So what do you want to know about the new merits?

I'm under the impression Nethergoat does both because he enjoys both playing the market and gunning down NPCs.
Or you can combine the two activities by using AE. You earn a lot of tickets and turn them into stuff to sell on the market.

Will inf jump into people's pockets? Only if they do something that can make it happen. The most ridiculous example would be if someone complained they aren't getting rich RPing but there are other things you can do in the game to minimize your ability to make inf just as there are things you can do to maximize it.

That said, my dominator is just under 1 billion from "just playing the game" for a year. He sold his drops and none were ever worth more than 20-30 million or so.. He checked to see if a recipe crafted sold for enough to justify crafting or simply listed the recipe, etc. He random rolled his merits when he'd get 80-100 of them from his contacts, etc.

Free Fall: just to get this straight - Are you claiming that you have some moral/RP reason for not making the money you don't make? Or are you claiming that it's too hard to make money? or some third choice that is not obvious to me?

We can probably fix your money problems, but we need to know what they are first.

Mini-guides: Force Field Defenders, Blasters, Market Self-Defense, Frankenslotting.

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.

these merits will divert the players that dont like earning influence because they see it as an unreachable goal whereas merits gives them a time table.

Never mind the fact that farming A-Merits is horrible for getting pvp and purple IOs, lazy people will do it because it sounds easier than big numbers.

One IO a month vs multiple in a week - the logic, it doesn't matter to them.

I am an ebil markeeter and will steal your moneiz ...correction stole your moneiz. I support keeping the poor down because it is impossible to make moneiz in this game.

For me, it's pretty much as others have said on this thread: the punching and blasting is the game, the market is not. The latter is something that was added to the game, and has its own rules; I participate in it as little as possible, selling my (uncrafted) drops and getting back into the fight. My fantasies are of being a superhero (or villain), not a shopkeeper or stockbroker. I'm very glad that the new merits will allow me to mostly opt-out of the market mini-game while still enjoying the benefits of IO sets (not purples or PvPs, just "regular" rares).

That said, I do have an actual on-topic question about these merits:
Will I be able to buy recipes from the vendors at any level (say, 35) or only at the level of my character, as is currently the case with reward merits? If it's the latter, I suppose I'll need to park a character in the mid-30s and turn off XP...

Buy direct recipes - any level or lower

the random rolls - will come at your level or the highest the recipe comes at whichever is appropriate.

Which is why my level locked guys at 32, 33, and 35 will take the 5 rares for 1 a-merit roll while my 50s will just take a direct buy of ones I want.

BTW I forgot to check, did they ever get the Steadfast Protection recipes added to the a-merit vendors? In beta only Res/End was there.

you can like it or not, but it is very definitely "part of the game".

your personal likes and dislikes have zero impact on the reality of the game world for other players.

Depends.

On a less solo friendly toon, such as a defender with a non debuffing primary? Almost certainly, but that depends on the team.

Also, teams chew through mobs faster, but larger teams means more mobs to chew through. I'm not sure anything could speed up a solo scrapper/brute/stalker/blaster who knows what they're doing.

You can still only get 5 tip missions worth of alignment credit every 20 hours, so nothing can get you more than one merit per 40 hours from tips/alignment with another 1 per however many hours, 18 or so I think, bought with reward merits and inf.

I'm not sure if that answers your question, though.

Can you get HAM/VAM without buying GR?

No. You can do Tip Missions without GR, but you cannot do Morality Missions, which are what give the Alignment Merits.

I'd really suggest buying the Going Rogue Complete Collection. You can get it from Best Buy on sale right now, and it includes a month of game time. You end up getting all of the expansion content plus some neat costumes and aura for not much more than the price of a month's play.

Thanks a lot for the answer and the BestBuy sale, but I'm an EU player, so...

Is the Complete Collection only available in the US?

*EDIT* nevermind. You can get the Complete Collection online from NCSoft here

https://secure.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/Store.pl?view=212

No sale price, but still has the month's playtime and the item pack. If you think of it in piecemeal terms, you're getting the expansion content and item pack for EUR 17,00 when you deduct the cost of a month's playtime. It's worth it.

20 MILLION INF every time I want to but a recipe plus the merit ???????

The hard things I can do--- The impossible just take a little bit longer.

If numbers are so much more important than a teammate who is fun to play with, forget about the game altogether and go play with a calculator instead. -Claws and Effect-

No. You get 50 reward merits for your first Morality Mission. You can trade them and 20 Million Inf for 1 A-Merit Reward (if you want to). After this you get 1 A-Merit for every Morality Mission.

Comment on merged market with history wipe:

It is dang hard to price off-level rare items with no history at all.

My scrapper seems to be a pool C off-level bosses magnet but at levels 41-44 for this week it has been a pricing conundrum for me.

I accept this "chore" with the glee only a merged market could bring me.

I thought any schmoe could still convert regular merits to A-Merits without doing morality arcs?

I can be found, outside of paragon city here.
Thank you everyone at Paragon and on Virtue. When the lights go out in November, you'll find me on Razor Bunny.

I'm fairly sure you have to do your first Morality Mission before you get access to the Lounge where the vendor is.

I just tried, I can enter the lounge and talk to the vendor without having GR. I just don't have enough merits to try the conversion. But nothing else seems to prevent me from doing it.

This is correct, morality missions are not required neither is going rogue.
