It's not a bad article. Delvs a little more into the Tip/Morality system. But the imbeded vid, wow...

That is nice seeing two of the Pratorian zones was nice to see.

Thank you for the time...

Not that you can fix it, but their links for "Latest Images" are broken.

As for the article itself, it is some nice info.

The video was great and strengthens the case for making over Paragon City and the Rogue Isles; even if it is only a zone at a time.

I'm really hoping that the vids depiction of a day/night cycle (with corresponding building/street lighting) is actual game-play stuff (not just cut scene candy) and that it also finds its way into PC and RI.

The zones (especially Nova Praetoria) were awesome; good job (and will now be expecting Praetorian level base upgrades).

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"

I'm confused by this remark. Paragon City and the Rogue Isles currently have day/night cycles with corresponding building lighting. Could you clarify what, in particular, you saw differently in Praetoria?

Veridian Dynamics. Mistakes. We all make them. But sometimes mistakes lead to great discoveries. Mistakes are how we learn and grow... so we can do amazing things.
When you think about it, shouldn't you be thanking us for making mistakes? Veridian Dynamics. We're sorry. You're welcome.

The night/day will be much more fleshed out and gorgeous. Gentle sunrises and all that.

I know letting out too many details at this point is a "no-no," but would it be possible to get some clarity on what the article was saying.

The writer mentions tip missions, will these drop for players in Paragon and the RI? He also mentions Praetoria allows players to do this more easily. So, does this mean there's contacts who allow you to switch sides rather than waiting for tip missions to drop? And what's the drop rate on this tips?

Cool vid!

@Rylas

Kill 'em all. Let XP sort 'em out.

CoX currently has a Day and Gray cycle for the most part... nothing as detailed/contrasted as the vid seems to be; awesome sunrise BTW (also currently not in PC or RI) And I don't remember seeing any building lighting during the Gray shift (at least not on redside).

If there is building lighting (as in internal building lights streaming out the windows like in the vid); I haven't seen it (primarily playing redside).

Interesting that contacts can die.
I don't think they will actually die; probably just end up being 'grayed out' to players who create that path...

Or maybe they won't even be visible anymore?

One of the problems with the night effects in CoH is that the war walls simply give off too much light to - the backstreets and alleyways are all too bright to be sinister

Other players would still need to access them; so an across the board cloak would probably be unfeasible... they'll probably 'Canada Joe' dead Contacts.

Tip missions are part of Issue 18, at least as a way to deliver new missions. So you could get those anywhere. But presumably you will need GR to actually get the ones that will affect your morality.

This looks like the same article that came up over the weekend (minus the bit about Necromancy being a new set). I'll say what I said in the previous discussions: the bit about the tip missions makes it sound pretty tedious. You do 10 missions, then do 1 mission that affects your alignment. Doing 20 missions to change alignment, but only making a decision twice, and having just those two decisions skew all the way from complete hero to complete villain seems a little much. I'd rather the choice system be a little bit more in-depth than that, personally, but this late in the game, I suspect it's unlikely to change.

I imagine that they'll be replaced with a child NPC. When you click on them, they message appears:

"'Scuse me, mister? Have you seen my Mommy? I tore Mr. Bear's arm and she said that she'd stitch him back together right-as-rain when she got home from work... Oh well, I guess I'll just wait until she gets back."

(Guess who has two emotes and plays City of Villains? This guy. )

Less than a month before we get swept away by the awesome that is Praetoria.

That's correct - you can get the Tip missions in I18, but you need to own GR to get the morality missions that let you switch sides.

I don't know "Canada Joe". But what you see is not necessarily what other people see, such as the objects summoned by Propel which are created client side and different for everyone. They could have these new contacts become invisible for the person for whom they are "dead", and visible for everyone else.

If it hadn't been for Canada Joe
I'd have done this arc, a long time ago.
Where did you spawn from where did you go
Where did you spawn from Canada Joe?

In Port Oakes, there's this NPC guy fishing off the docks; Canada Joe. He has a 'green name' just like a Contact would but when you click him, he does nothing...

...the Propel thing could be a possibility.

But beware, for your choice can have far-reaching and permanent implications such as the death of your mission contacts.

Is there an updated list of things that will be in GR? I just hope the Devs didn't drop the ball with this one and just add a bunch of repetitive missions into a new zone.

I am wondering if there will be any new TFs, open missions, new things to do and that sort of thing. I am really glad they're doing side switching but that doesn't add a lot of new things to do in game....we've all played both sides for a long time now.

Considering the larger Dev team and period between expansions, I am hoping there is much more to GR than I have seen.
