Since I suspect some people didn't read through and see that Bill stopped counting:

1/3 of the player base is generally hiding from searches.

Yes: 34
No: 68

Is this a scientific poll? Of course not. Could a dev swoop in and say "the forum going populace is not an accurate representation of the playerbase on the whole." Of course.

But for my calculations, 1/3 hidden it is.
And in case someone else comes through to count:
No

The City of Heroes Community is a special one and I will always look fondly on my times arguing, discussing and playing with you all. Thanks and thanks to the developers for a special experience.

I wonder how much hidden people add to the perception that server populations are down. I used to periodically search for all players on Justice just to get a head count. I haven't done that in so long I forgot what the average was. But I did note that there were less and less players. Part of the seperation began after CoV came out and we were divided by faction.

But if a third of a server's population is hidden, there may be a lot more people around than we think there are.

I do not need to know why you do or do not use it. I do not wish to know what percentage of the time you do or do not use it unless that time is close to 50/50 in which case I will toss your result out.

I am only seeking to determine what percentage of the player base tends to nearly always remain hidden from searches.

Thank you for your support.
Yes.

Absolutely.

All the time. All of my toons...

PPS> From a statistical standpoint Bill, a survey of forumites is very probably
a skewed sample, primarily because I'd expect them to be (in general) less
casual players, and generally more aware of game mechanics, nuances, and
changes than the average CoH/V player (who isn't subjected to the large
quantities of (quality) game information). Just a Caveat for your analysis.

I'd change it to 1/3 of the forum player base are generally hidden. And I think thats far more than general population.
I don't think it requires a dev to state forum going populace is not an accurate representation of the playerbase on the whole either.

I'm a nope btw.

I don't suffer from altitis, I enjoy every minute of it.

We dont know if a third of a server's population is hiding.

Apart from this only being forum goers, theres no breakdown of servers, eg do people hide more on virtue than liberty.

And I might add that's a HUGE caveat in my own experience. I've talked to an extremely high number of people (like in the hundreds) just on the Freedom server who all say "I'm not a forum goer" or "I don't pay any attention to the forums at all."

So, while that may be a decently accurate analysis for forumites, it doesn't necessarily represent the playerbase as a whole. One can't assume that "most players probably visit the forums."
