Who's Your "Go-To" Character?
My main is my Claws/SR stalker, but I also PvP religiously, so she's a little bit... boring in PvE. She does very good single target damage of course, but there's no AoE there. For PvE, I almost always grab my Plant/Elec Dominator because it is CRAZY fun to see all the ticking AoE damage and keep everything rooted in place for the other AoEers to destroy. Also... the venus fly trap is friggen' adorable.
Archery/Cold Blaster. Then, Ill/Rad Controller. (Or Rad/Electric Defender.) Then, Archery/Mental blaster. Then, Stone/Stone tank.

"A good n00b-sauce is based on a good n00b-roux." - The Masque
My Dark Melee/Shield Defense Scrapper.
Ill/Storm Troller - Houdini Hare (Good All Around Chaos)
TA/DP Def - Redtail Raven (Fun on teams)
Fire/MM Blast - Lil Kidstreet (Good solo, ok PvP)
Otherwise its whatever toon I'm leveling or just fooling around with.
E3!!! Electric/Electric/Electric Blaster! Blaptroller, blasting, blapping, holding, shocking, socking, draining, living dangerously... I haven't found anything else that matches my enjoyment more-so.

Speed TF buff/debuff - cold/sonic fender
Speed TF damage - fire/shield scrapper
General team showoff - fire/electric blaster
Wow, all this AR/Dev love; I could never get into it myself. Someday I'm sure I'll try again.
Low lvl TF (Psyche or below) I rock My Fire/Fire Blaster, although I've just gotten into a Rad/Sonic Def that may dethrone him...
Everything else is a tossup between Fire/Kin 'troller, Spine/DA Scrapp, and, if I'm feeling particularly saucy, my WS. Redside, I don't think I'll find more fun than there is to be had with my Plant/Fire Domi.
Of course, I'm usually just altin' it up...
Open the pod bay doors, Hal.
Nice, lot of interesting responses. Really cool to see the variety of "go-to" characters out there.
I'm actually really enjoying a combo I've not seen mentioned yet; my Plant/Rad troller. Should be way more fun once I "finish" him up (S/L Cap, Perma Hasten+AM).
I'm an altholic, so I can bring just about anything that's needed.
Still... Grey Pilgrim, my Fire/Fire Tanker is my most played character and I keep playing him on teams and solo (and he's the closest thing I have to a badger). He'll be the first one to try out the new endgame content... and any new content, for that matter. He's just incredibly versatile, and he's the only character that I've bothered creating a dual build for.
The ones that come closest are my Martial Arts/Regen Scrapper, Earth/Storm Controller, and my Nin/Nin Stalker. Next up are all my blasters... they're good fun (Electric Knight is right... E^3 is awesome).

(I really lucked out with the right powerset in this game for my playstyle... and it just happening to match up with a predesigned character I had)

So you think you're a hero, huh.
@Boltcutter in game.
I get one blaster, three defender, one scrapper, and two tankers.

I have a few. And more emerging every day.
Oedipus Tex himself was my first "serious" character. I've rerolled him from Empathy/Energy to Force Field/Archery, to Earth/Thermal, to Earth/Storm, to Illusion/Storm to finally (and now 50) something that I think fits perfectly: Pistols/Dark. Yet I rarely play him because he is currently stuck on the Red side, and I really don't like playing over there.
My other mains are Radio Iceotope (Ice/Rad troller), the Cold Reader (Mind/Cold troller), and Joan of Arkansas (Broadsword/Fire Armor Scrapper).
I'm an altholic, so I can bring just about anything that's needed.

My namesake is either a fire/rad or a fire/kin or both on heros or villains.
Alts on all servers, lvl 50 of every AT:
lvl 50 Heroes on all servers but; Pinnacle, Victory
lvl 50 Villains on all servers but; Guardian, Pinnacle, Triumph, Victory

My default, go-to character for any new content/badges/TFs is my Invuln/Ice Tanker. He's straight up the most unique and entertaining powerset combo I've played (along with maybe my AR/Mental Blaster). I've never found a character that can quite feel as fun as this guy. He's sitting at 480 badges right now, but I've been putting in a lot of effort to get more badges lately.
If I'm on a TF and there's already a Tank and we're lacking damage or anything, I'll switch over to my Fire/Shield Scrapper. He's a beast. He's good for letting me just mindlessly kill things when it's late and I'm tired, too.
I've got a lot of alts that typically stay shelved at 50 except for very special circumstances. Eventually, when I get motivated to IO them, they'll probably join the ranks of my Scrapper as alt-main characters. Next up is probably that AR/Mental Blaster.
Other than my 50s though, I typically log on to level a character. And since I only level one character at a time, the character ends up being kind of my main for a while. Right now it's my Plant/Kin, though when GR comes it'll be my DP/Sonic Corr after I run the new content with my main Tanker.
Wild Streak - Lv. 50(+3) Beast Mastery/Sonic Resonance Mastermind, Amnesty - Lv. 50 Staff Fighting/Dark Armor Stalker
I actually prefere Scrappers over any AT, however, it's my RAD/DP Defender I tend to bring to teams, as I find it adds so much more to TFs (namely STF, KahnTF, and ITF)

My Fire/Rad troller. She's my checklist toon, te only one's I'm trying to get all the badges, do all the TFs with, get all the day jobs, etc.
Stay Gold, Paragon. Stay Gold.

I almost always log on to CM and check my market page. Then I'll log onto my Nightwidow to check her market page red side. Then it depends on how much time I plan on playing or how I feel atm
If I have a while left to play, say 2 hours I'll work on my latest project character, which atm is inv/elec tank; if it's less than 2 hours but more than 1 I'll take whichever alt is close to dinging the next lvl; if it's less than an hour I'll try to gather tickets in AE with a lvl 50, or farm for purples soloing at -1/ x8 with my spines/da scrapper. Then again all of that is subject to change
Spines/ D A lvl 50 Scrap, stone/wm lvl 50 tank, Kat/reg lvl 50 Scrap
Grav/Kin lvl 50 Cont, Fire/Enegry lvl 50 Blast
Warshade lvl 50, PB lvl 39, nightwidow lvl 50, crab lvl 42
plant/thorns lvl 50 dom, ice/fire lvl 40 dom, grav/nrg lvl 41 dom
Transhade - Broadsword Dark Armor scrapper is mine. After that it is all gravy.
I'll log into something not played in a while, listen out for TFs and turn up with whatever needs the badge. Go to in terms of fearlessness I'd say my Claws/SR scrapper cos I don't even have to think.
He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.
My main is Hype, a level 50 MA/SR Scrapper. Coincidentally, he's also my first character, and is a loose homage to a Champions pen and paper RPG character I used to play.
My main alt is Tennebrae, a level 50 Dark/Dark/Dark Defender. He's slow to solo with but fun for task forces and PUG's.
As many others do, I have a lot of alts, with a pack in the 30's and another pack in the tweens and a bunch floating around level 6 that i made and played for a couple of hours and never got around to deleting.
When leveling, I tend to rotate between 2 or 3 alts to take advantage of patrol xp, as I normally only get to play for an hour or two late at night after my family is asleep and I want to make the most of my logged in time.
One of the things that I like the most about CoH is trying out different powerset combos to see how they work together. However, I do wish that there was a buyable token to allow a powerset switch, priced high at say $20 (double a rename token) to prevent rampant abuse. There's a couple of characters I'd definitely pay to swap powersets on because I've got time invested in them but their sets just don't work well together even into the middle levels.
Like many other folks, I am also a fairly serious altoholic and will tend to bring whatever I am working on at the time (and I am always working on something new) to a TF, depending on level range.
That said, I have put most of my build effort into my huntsman, Midnight Renegade and my shield/SS tank, Andromache. MR has both a huntsman build for maximum group buff and AE carnage as well as a mace stalker style build for max single target damage. Andromache is softcapped and has as much resistance and regen as I have been able to fit in, plus a lot of recharge. These are the characters I use for their respective Hamidon raids and MR is also my primary co-op TF character.
When GR comes out I will probably take Midnight Renegade at least to rogue status so I can play him in the blueside TF's as well as the few redside/co-op TF's he runs now. I will probably leave Andromache as a hero - while I enjoy here I find MR to be a better add to the team.
