Despite their joking and sarcastic posts on the subject, I've long believed that the "certain activity" that keeps the devs from adding lying down animations is PVP, not anything else.

When using such an emote, it would appear as if your character is dead on the ground. This would be needlessly confusing in PVP. Since targetted player enemies' names are in orange/red whether they're alive or dead, this is an understandable(and in my mind, more likely) reason.

Personally I suspect it's a lot more likely to be the *ahem* ERPers than the PvPers that the devs are concerned about. I would be very surprised if people were actually relying ont he character's stance rather than the ttargeting box to tell their status.

Well I'm not sure if any of this was mentioned as yet because I didn't read the whole thread. Anyway...some stuff I would like to see:

1) Older powerset animations getting a going over. Specifically I'd like to see some of the animations that are constantly reused for other powers in the game be replaced with something new. My current pet peeve is Shadow Maul(that animation is everywhere). If I could just replace that silly rapid punching with an actual maul(massive hammer) made out of darkness that I could use to lay the smack down with, I would be in heaven using Dark Melee.

2) It would be nice to see some emotes that are specifically tied to your powerset. Like ice blasters can create various objects made of ice just for showing off. And weapon users can perform kata-like moves to show off their prowess.

3) I know this is a pain, but is there any possibility that Katana will ever use the correct leading hand? That being the right hand drawing the sword from a scabbard on the left side and not the other way around.

4) Oh and can we please replace that awful double-punch move(Slash) that claws brutes and scrappers use(as well as VEAT Widows) with a sweeping double slash that starts with both arms out to the side and then cross across the chest? Or well...anything other than the silly 1-2 punch move would look better.

Facepalm emote.

Ability to fly using the hover-yoga emote.

Ability to wave while hovering without switching to the "standing emote".

"Crowd Control"
I'd love to see (sometimes, make it a random chance to happen). Walking NPC's who come across a fight between a hero and villains may stop in a wide circle around the fight and clap and cheer the hero on. If the hero loses, they all run away screaming.

not sure if this is the right place for it but for blasters using sets life fire, ice, energy and electric how about a cannon glove (think Barret from Final Fantasy VII)?

I very much agree.

If the current emotes are supposed to be skirt-friendly, they don't work. I mostly gave up on using skirts because my characters can't sit in them. The first female bench sit works, but it's the only safe one I can recall. The second chair sit, the ledge sits, yoga, and plain /e sit all give a clear view up the skirt without needing camera maneuvering. The crossed legs sit emote (the first chair sit, aka most of the female choices) doesn't, but it rips the skirt down both sides. Some emotes that actually are skirt-friendly would be appreciated, but if I had to pick I'd vote for porting the male sit emotes over first.

Yes, please. I would gladly trade the inability to use certain short-handled swords and shields in general if we ever got two-handed animations for Shield and Axe AT LEAST. While we're at it, can we please get a selection of bigger axes and swords with longer hilts? Where's the harm in that? Better to have new animations than a brand new two-handed sword set.

Speaking of which, can we please get a "large hammer" set at some point?

Personally, I'd like to see the Shadow Maul animation simply sped up a great deal. If it's supposed to be fast punches, then why can't they be FAST punches? Do I need to bring up Chun-Li's rapid kicks? That's the kind of speed I envision. If I get the time, I'll do a sped-up mock-up of Flurry.

More to point, it occurs to me that there's one good source of inspiration to draw on for "cool energy attacks," which is basically ever fighting game ever made, but Capcom's "VS series" more than anything else. So I did a couple of mockups:





The first one features Sakura's aerial Hadouken from Marvel vs Capcom 2, Iron Man's basic strong punch from Marvel Super Heroes (don't think it's named), Thanos' basic strong punch from Marvel Super Heroes and Captain Commando's Captain Corridor from Marvel vs. Capcom - it's the big full-screen energy bolt

The second one features four super moves: Iron Man's Proton Cannon from Marvel Super Heroes, Ryu's Shinkuu Hadouken from Marvel vs. Capcom, Cyclops' Mega (or was it Hyper?) Optic Blast from X-Men: Children of the Atom and Dr. Doom's "I don't know what it's called" super from Marvel Super Heroes (or possibly Marvel vs. Capcom 2) that I caught mid-way - that energy ball explodes into a much larger blue fireball that wasn't as photogenic.

When I say Energy Blast could be more ambitious and more elaborate, and that other sets could very well be, as well, this is what I mean.

Thanks for reminding me. Seriously, lordy oh lordy, who the heck designed the female run? Its TERRIBLE! Elbows glued to the sides, hands flapping? It look passalbe from side on, but stuck behind or in front of it it looks shocking. Id be a huge advocate of having this changed for something a bit better.

In this regard, I would be happy with a belt with small rockets animating fire like the rocket boots or an alternative choice of anti-gravity waves. I've seen these in Flash Gordon comics, though I've not found any examples on the internet to post.

That's something I've always agreed with. The female run is ulcer-inducing to such an extent that no amount of hip sway can save it. It feels like I'm playing Peg from Married with Children... Ugh!

Again, I'm not advocating yanking the animation away from people who like bad run styles, but we NEED run style customization at SOME point.

hmm I play marvel vs capcom alot on my playstation but geez why does marvel vs capcom 2 look so horrible compared to the first one? That proton cannon looks terrible.

That's not Marvel vs. Capcom. It's an open-source project called "Super Marvel vs. Capcom" for the MUGEN environment that gathers characters from around the franchise, actually hand-made by the users a lot of the time, or so I hear.

And, yeah, it probably looks worse than Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but it IS free, and I assume legal, whereas Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is not playable on my PC, and by the looks of it, never will be. And as long as Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is console-exclusive, I REALLY don't feel bad about putting one over on Capcom.

Travel power customization
Something I'd like to see someday as another way of extending upon issue 16s power customization.

In addition to changing the colors of many different travel powers I'd like to see new variations or animations.

Flight:
Hoverdisk / Hoverboard or cloud: Can the animation for sliding on ice be re-used to an extend for standing on the added hoverboard or disk?
Anti grav boots, jetboots and jetpacks
Elemental flight such as the electric / magnetic flight that freakshow currently havve

Superspeed:
Skates/ rocket boots or a skate board
anime style run that you see in champs
Elemental animations, or things such as rock or ice appearing near your feet

Teleport:
Here I'd really like the rikti style teleporting (along with the cool sound) and maybe even use wormholes animation when teleporting.

Super Jump/combat jumping
Elemental animations again and maybe create a cool fiery explosion or electrical discharge upon landing (depending on what element)

I think travel power customization is something many of us would be willing to pay extra for.

More alternate animations for all power sets and or changes

shield defense
A personal request that I've always wanted is a change to one with the shield. I've always loved how the council ascendants use that power similar to hibernate where they are untouchable and heal over time. They just hold the shield with both arms out stretched.

Why wasn't this given to shield defense in the first place? I guess castle would need to comment on that, I'm assuming it was tech problem? Don't get me wrong, the current buff can be quite nice at times but it recharges so slowly and this power change would add some extra fluff to the set and make it look cool if you ask me.

martial arts, super strength, stone melee and the elemental melee
I'd like to see the remaining martial arts and super strength powers get new alternate animations and to see more use of the stone mallet for stone melee, more use of the fire and ice swords and a new electric sword, maybe something like a tesla coil or a hammer? (without looking too much like thors hammer ofcouse)

I now await an offical backalleybrawler facepalm.

Allowing customization for the side, patron and epic pools in general would be nice (and eventually, alternate animations)

Should travel powers and travel toggles ever get customization with choices of animations, combat jumping is a perfect place to seat a number of varied travel animations types IMO:

- feral bounds
- elegant acrobatic movements
- "rooftop vigilante" style leaps and landings

Since we have all of these new fangled dual pistols running around being all flashy with their hail of bullets power trying to impress others in Atlas Park, can we get an emote like Val Kilmer/Doc Holliday did in Tombstone with his tin cup as our "flashy" reply?

If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

One animation that I think could use some updates is the defeat animation for foes. The "clutch-chest-and-drop-to-knees" isn't a bad animation at all. But it's the only one. I think having a few different animations would be cooler, and having unique defeat animations would be a great touch. Look at Kronos. This is a robot. Why would it clutch its chest? What if instead it had the Self-Destruct animation (but on a shorter time frame)?

Just my 2 inf.

OK, I did a little mock-up of what an actual super-fast version of Flurry would could look like, instead of the "lazy boy pummel you at my own pace" slowness that we have today.

This is the result.

If you can see past the "shot on shiteo" quality of the video and the guerilla style editing (and the sound effect from Berserker Barrage ), you'll note that the attack looks rather a lot more like... Well, like a flurry of punches. I'm not sure if I didn't lengthen the animation time (I probably did), but I feel it looks a lot more like what the power is supposed to be.

Now, of course, I'm not an animator or an artist, so I'm sure an actual professional can make something a LOT more kickass than this. I'm just trying to show the possibilities.

Ugh. Much prefer the original. Flurry looks fast enough. That just looks spastic to me.

But, as an alternate ani it could work, as long as the original doesn't get taken out.

Alternatives are what we're talking about, yes. Possibly with the upcoming power pool customization. But I agree it's spastic. That's kind of the point. It's super speed. Super speed should not be leisurely and sluggish. It SHOULD be fast, spastic and blurry.

In fact, the more I think about it, the more I realise that when it comes to super speed, the LESS you see of what the character is doing, the better.

P.S. I sped up an animation that has a lot of hip sway and wide swinging punches. Presumably, a faster animation would involve less complicated motions and look less goofy and more just FAST.
