Partial respec or "unlevelling"
I would like the option, when doing a respec, to be able to start with my current build and undo/redo levels back to a certain point. Like, say I'm level 40 and I just want to fiddle with my choices from level 30 onwards, this would allow me to go back to level 30 and retrain from there without having to rebuild the character from scratch like a typical respec.

I wouldn't argue if it happened, but I don't see it ever doing so.
Dec out.
Lordie I would kill for being able to respec in a Mids hero builder style fashion and this would be a step closer to that so yes.../signed.
No issues with this idea.
Wouldn't mind being able to change my epic pool without redoing everything else.

A Mids like layout would be a perfect Upgrade to the Respec screen, IMO. Becuase swipe me if the current one isnt clunky as all hell... (Sorry Satan )
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I agree an upgrade to the Respec system helps. I often want to edit just one power but by the time I'm done Redoing everything else I forget what I wanted to respec in the first.
>.> So I have a short attention span but most of the time it just to move or adjust slots not to choose a new power.
/oh dear please yes signed
I've had higher level characters that I decided a certai power just wasnt doing what I'd hoped for and actually found myself debating.. "Okay respec from level 1 of just let it alone and ignore using the power ever again"
Maybe they could come up with a way to respec using the same system in reverse? Start with your original power choices and simply move backwards in levels until you hit the one you want to change? Hey the mechanics are already there since you can do this same thiung during a respec to start over. That way if I was say level 44 and ONLY wanted to switch a power I picked at 38 or 41 I could simply move backward a few levels to accomplish it instead of starting out a 1 level and building all over.

Might be a pain to do, but it'd certainly be nice in some instances. (Mix with the also-requested "Show level while respeccing," stir well, add cinnamon, cover, bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes, serves six.)
Even if they just added a level slider at the top of the respec screen. Slide it to the point you want to start changing. The game has the info to what you chose and when.

I agree, this is needed.
Now this is a respec suggestion that i can argee on..not a total one but something that can go back over the past 10-20 lvls max
Great idea!

Another superhero style game uses this they call it retconning and it is very popular.

Fine by me
In a current build I would like to move 2 enhancement slots. I don't need to do a whole respec, I just need to move a couple of slots.
Signed, but I'm waiting for the show-stopping poster with the 30-item bullet list as to why the devs will never implement it, complete with quotes

A slider would do nicely for this function.

A. This didn't eat a respec.
2. You wanted to keep more than 10 enhancements in your tray.
Otherwise, I don't think anyone's got that list.
Dec out.

That said, I am surprised to have gotten such a positive response for this suggestion.

I think anyone in their right mind would agree the Respec system needs a re-look.
/respec
--->go to gump "Redo from Level 1" or "Undo from $level (current level)"
Undo-ing could display the spark effect from Slot or Power select you'll lose by going "Back", thereby forcing any enhancements from the spark effect into the "Holding Tray"
I guess it's just a matter of what's possible on their end, eh? I would think reverse from current level shouldn't be impossible, but I'm just a player and poster...
I'd love this... especially if it kept all enhancements in their previous spots (provided the slotting for the powers remained the same).
Heck; I'd burn two respecs if the darn thing would just leave my power trays alone afterward.
"My inner mind has become a reality-cracking overgod. He torments me! Help!"
That would be amazing. As long as we are asking for things, I want to export my live build into Mids, do my respec, then upload it to replace my live build.

The devs will never allow something to be loaded into a third party program and then be loaded back into the live game. Mid's is much easier to hack than the live game, and you would run into a problem of people using Mid's to give themselves enhancements they don't actually possess. Since you can change the parameters of just about everything in Mid's if you dig deep enough into it you would have to install a series of safeguards to ensure that players aren't introducing bugs into the game.
Example of possible shenanigans: Load your character into Mid's and switch it over to PvP mode while you are in a PvE zone, load back to live and ow your powers all have PvP values all the time. You'd end up with blasters having tanker level resistance to everything because of the way Epic shields work in PvP and the fact that Mid's doesn't account for Diminished Returns.
Basically, this would introduce so many headaches for the GMs and would probably require it's own staff to monitor that it really wouldn't be worth the time and effort it would take to implement.
And again, there is the point that the devs are NEVER going to allow a third party program to load information directly onto their servers. (Your powers and enhancements are all stored server-side, because they are factors that determine how your character interacts with the environment)

And while they are at it fix so it doesnt screw up our power trays by putting ever damned temp power and what not into the slots. I chringe evertime i need to respec a toon for this reason.
