Who are the CoH analogs of...

Everyone says that Statesman is the Superman of CoH... and the shear fact of the matter is that no matter how original you try to be archtypes of characters do come up...

So Who are the Analogs of well known iconic heroes of other universes in the CoH universe...

Manticore is more or less the analog of Batman
Recluse is more or less the analog of Magneto

Where's the Oracle?
Where's the Joker?
Where's the X-men?
Where's Professor X?

You'd implying Lord Recluse is intelligent enough to make his own things.

I'm pretty sure that while the heroes have analogues, the villains were designed with a bit more originality put into them so this thread's kind of a moot point for red side characters.

Synapse is the obvious analog to Marvel's Quicksilver and every Flash and speedster DC has ever unleashed.

Citadel and Luminary are synthetic life forms, like the Vision.

EDIT: Ghost Widow might be a possible analog to DC's Gentleman Ghost

Nemesis is closer to Dr. Doom, with all his clones

Positron is obviously the CoH equivalent of Iron Man

Actually that kind of fits Magneto as well, what with Genosha and his former comradery with Xavier.

EDIT: Although I'd agree that Recluse is much more of a Doom type. Magneto acts out of pride, while Recluse rules through fear and personal feelings of inadequecy. Recluse's motives are similar to Dooms in a lot of ways. Nemesis kind of covers a few basis. His actions mimic Doom in teh doubles and the robots, but his motives are much more... nemesis like.

I've always thought of Spider-Man as Batman's analog in the Marvel U, but more in the Praetorian sense of a double than the sense we're discussing here. Peter Parker is like the polar opposite of Bruce Wayne, but in a way that makes them fit the same niche.

Moon Knight is likely the closest Marvel character to Batman.

This chick might be the closest we have to a Joker.

Not talking about just power or stats wise... but their character and how it does it's thing and why and all like that...

Miss Liberty is somewhat like Wonder Woman

I don't think that the reason it's hard to place the villains is because they are unique but rather the villains themselves haven't been fleshed out much... Many of them are the comic equivilent of one shots and haven't been very fleshed out because they aren't very reoccuring.

Atlas is analgous to Hank Pym. For that matter, it sounds like Talos might have been as well.

Rularuu is not unlike Galactus.

Nemesis has several parallels to DC's Vandal Savage.

Proteus could be compared to Clayface.

Crey Industries could compare to LexCorp, though I don't think Baroness Crey holds any real comparison to Lex Luthor.

Dark Watcher always impressed me as a bit like The Shadow.

Valkyrie I always felt, had a backstory that always reminded me of Marvel's Thor, just minus the Nordic diety stuff.

the Paragon Protectors are not unlike the Project Cadmus Ultimen on Justice League Unlimited.

Manticore is Batman. Think about it:

Both witnessed their parents' murder.
Both are more vigilantes rather than heroes.
Both lack real powers, and rely on technology

Statesman is either Superman or Captain America.
Or maybe Blue Steel is Captain America?

Sister Psyche is Jean Grey.
Synapse is the Flash.
Positron is Iron Man.

The Vindicators are likely the X-Men (although they aren't all mutants)

to TO THE END!
Villains are those who dedicate their lives to causing mayhem. Villians are people from the planet Villia!

Blue Steel is closer to Chuck Norris.

LOLNO.

Magneto is among the best famous super villains, with ambiguous motivations that are believable.

It would be an undeserved compliment to call Recluse formulaic, because he isn't even as interesting as the most cliche villain. He's a spider-fetishist Mary Sue with no particular ideology other than GOTTA GET STATESMAN. He can't make any sort of consistent choice between anarchist or fascist, and has 0 fashion sense, style, or charisma.

Perhaps he is the analogue of Turner D. Century... nah that's not fair. Turner D. Century had an amusing theme.

A game is not supposed to be some kind of... place where people enjoy themselves!

The whole anarcho-fascism thing he had going on always reminded me of Apocalypse.

Our synthetic life forms have to be some of the most well off and most stable synthetic life forms in the comic genre.

I think Recluse makes a good supervillain - although his fashion sense is a bit weird - like he's all about the techno evil look for his goons, but he himself has rather battered and dull looking armor - he should totally go with a dark chrome look, and have just a black bodysuit without the dark pink pattern on it.
