Live Patch Notes - 5/4/10

COMBINED

Mission Architect

  • Reduced the experience calculation point value of Ninjitsu/Hide from 5 to 1 and the multiplier from 1.0 to 0.5. The original calculations did not take into account that Hide's damage buff is not constant.

Auction House
  • Fixed a bug that would delete an entire buy order for a stack of enhancements or inspirations when a single one was claimed.

Gameplay
  • Fixed several rare random crash bugs.
Global Email
  • Fixed a bug that would delete anything sent as an attachment if there was a double quote (") in the body of the email.

Graphics
  • Fixed a software conflict with some graphics cards using Intel chipsets that made the shader quality degrade significantly.
  • Fixed a conflict with ATI-based PCs using driver versions 10.1 or 10.4. The game would crash if the user changed the 'Water Effects' slider to 'Recommended', disabled Advanced Graphics Settings, then moved the Water slider again.

Thank you for getting this fix to the live servers! I know it's only been a week since I17, but I really missed having access to shader quality for my characters.

seems to be some sort of memory leak or something because my FPS has dramatically decreased to a unplayable rate since today's patch.

Im curious if any of the 4 TFs/SFs that were bugged were fixed as well >.> and if so why were they not included in the notes


Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

If not, I hope that they informed CS that the things are bugged. Doing a MOKahn the other day we pounded on Reichsman for 30 minutes and his health moved maybe 2%. When support was contacted we all got a canned response

I am still unable to play on my desktop:

Win 7 Ultimate, nVidia 6800XT, AMD 64 3000+ system.

i17 Started the problems of which I had NONE pre i17. The patch increased my connection issues and Technical Support told me to get a new router. This when my laptop plays CoH just fine on the same router.

We did Hami Red side on Sunday on virtue and didn't need nukes. The greens took a bit longer but nothing obnoxious, we still finished in about the time it normally takes.

I was at a Virtue Red side raid the other night, and we couldn't get past the first bloom. the Greens would not go down. When I logged back in last night there were TWO sets of greens around Hami.

If your laptop plays just fine after I17 drops but your desktop doesn't, shouldn't that tell you the problem lies within your desktop and not the game?

/standard response to check drivers, etc.


Loose --> not tight.
Lose --> Did not win, misplace, cannot find, subtract.
One extra 'o' makes a big difference.

Pretty sure Castle said he knows there is a problem there and that he knows what it is, and is trying to work out how to fix it.

yea i missed this, almost as much as i missed the market

Castle fixing it most likely means internally, then it has to go through QA and Test server before it can go live, so it'll be a little while yet

because everyone knows if the game is fine with one set of drivers it must be fine with all drivers.

Ok i dont have problems with Ultra Mode , cause even all the zones updated looks much beter. remember i on purpose selected it , even if i knowingly know that my machine cannot handle everything on maximum (it lags too much while playing )

Now the graphics envoirement worked out beter then i tought . so no complaints there slight lag , but since i was playing on recommended i just shift it down to performance .
And manually upgrade the stuff i like .

Now what i am not happy with is the costume loading time , and now the contacts loading time >.< seems with this patch accidently opening costumes and contacts during a fight is a killer ...

Can we get a fix on that part please return it back to I 16 loading time .
The contacts and costumes . and get rid of that ugly half bar trough the costumes selection , tought i would been fixed this patch !!
Guess another hot fix incoming ??

edit= I 17 to I 16 loading time .

I keep getting this right after I enter my login information and press enter.

The game client was unable to connect to the login server. This may be due to a local network issue such as a firewall block, or may be because the login server is down for maintenance. Please check your network settings and try again, or check http://www.cityofheroes.com/servers/index.html for current server status.

This patch has broken everything for me because yesterday, I was running this game just fine.

Apparently I'm imagining that shiny HO I got from the Sunday raid that Robokitty ran.

Was that the 6 PM raid or the 7 PM one? I never stay for the second one.

For the 6 PM one we cleared the first two blooms then powered through the last two taking down Hamidon.

I think his point was that laptops tend to not be as powerful, graphically, as PCs and therefore perhaps it is time for some sort of upgrade to the PC. AKA nothing to do with drivers at all. I could be misinterpreting that by a large margin though.

Like Kioshi, my Intel 950 is up to date. The live patch for the Intel Chipset Family has done nothing to help me out. My connectivity is excellent, but the shader options are still N/A and grayed out.

Prior to i17 my graphics had a nice, polished look to my toons: armor was shiny, there was depth and shadows to the game. Now, even AFTER the patch, there are reflections on the ground, the characters STILL have a dull, matte finish. Granted I am running on a 3 and a 1/2 year old laptop, and I do not expect to have Ultra Mode be accessible through my laptop. But my graphics looked GREAT for the past two years PRIOR to i17. I used to enjoy getting on and playing this game with friends. NOW, it's a disappointment.

At any rate, that's me. Also want to express that I am not hating on people with better systems, and I am NOT expecting ULTRA MODE on my laptop. I have done everything I can think of (I am not very computer literate) to fix this problem on my end.

Not just you bud, on the other forum a poster's wife's laptop had issues with Added heat at I17, another guy posted his GPU is running 10 degrees higher and I get 15 minutes on game before it gets so hot it shuts my laptop down.
A buddy who has a few accounts only has one out of Three laptops still playing since I17.
There is No "Optional" to UM on the game as i have seen even in Safe Mode.
Support had me load up a bunch of stuff, then Uninstall stuff from that, had me run Four testing systems and all they could come back with after I Passed was my laptop was running hot, No S***!, yes after I17 went live yes I started running hot.

It's about the 6th, release for it "ready or not here I come", it's about wanting to "Play" with a new graphics engine and Not care about the Paying players but Pat us on the back look how pretty we made it look...........for those that can Still play.
Four years I did not have a problem but for when AE issue killed my VG off and they paid me inf to replace it rather then them actually having to Fix it.
So yes, while you are first reporting this on this posting, it was reported all Through Test and since I17 went live, The promissed "UM is Optional and will not effect normal game play" did not happen, it's just more noticable with and on laptop players.

I think the Dev's Expect paying players Will go Buy new systems to continue to play the game since they moved the game Away from them and their current equipment, ain't happening here. I canceled my account, not paying a monthly service for 15 minutes at a time play and further Damage to my system nor am I going to pay another 2K so I can continue to pay them.

To make it clear and simple they have Forced UM on us and Have changed the game, as it was and they sent it Live anyway = "normal game play" is now With the "optional UM".

Hell, you can tell by all the TF's and zones bugging now this was pushed thru far to fast and "checks" must have been Skipped or they said after seeing they were Failing push it thru Anyway, we want it out for the 6th broke or not.

Which is just Bad Business and causes Paying customers to leave.
