  1. A meet? In my hometown? Are you mad?

meh despite it being in my hometown and only 15 minutes away on the train, I won't be there as I'm lazy and don't know anyone
  2. well the laptop came today and it works a lot better then i thought
running ultra mode in ultra settings
  3. Well i've ordered the 1GB ATI laptop
    and its no longer 5470, it's a 5650 now

well Nvidia is a Geforce G210M
The ATI is a Mobility Radeon HD 5470
Another option is a brand new Dell with a Mobility Radeon 4330
  5. So i'm planning to buy a new laptop this week but i'm currently undecided between two refurbs.

One has a 1GB ATI graphics card
The other has a 512mb NVidia

I'm just wondering how bad the problem is with CoH and ATI cards as I really want the one with the ATI card as the whole system is a higher spec then the other

What intel chipset do you guys use? I use a 945. You can check it here: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/detect.htm
    i use a mobile 965 chipset with a x3100 core
  7. stopped his crashing, stopped my performance issues

only downside is that the shader quality option is greyed out

    1. right click on CoH/Cov shortcut
    2. click on properties
    3. click on shortcut tab at top
    4. go to target window "C:\Program Files\City of Heroes\CohUpdater.exe"
    5. after the last " press space bar once
    6. enter following code exactly -useTexEnvCombine
    7. click on apply then ok.
    8. right click on CoH run as admin.

Solved my crash issues might solve ur GL
Sweet, sends my FPS back to i16 speeds

Not everyone has the money to do so

In my case, I'd have to buy a whole new laptop to go with it as it can't be upgraded

    http://help.ncsoft.com/cgi-bin/ncsof...hp?p_faqid=986
It's not the programs and services running in the background. As I said in previous posts, it was perfectly fine before said patch, and I hadn't changed anything before making this thread. Closing background tasks will barely have little effect as all the unnecessary programs barely make up 4% of total ram usage. Also many of the programs shown in the HijackThis log are idle, use less then 1MB of ram and only use the cpu when I make changes to associated software. Some of them don't even run as I have already disabled through MSconfig and make sure they are not running before attempting to play anything

For me, CoH ran using only 600MB - 800MB of ram before the patch, now it uses 1.3GB. I don't have a great machine but I know very well it can handle something that uses that much normally. But to increase to that amount just from a small patch is something that should be addressed

I've already isolated the problem, its the patch

Since today's patch, CoH has increased in RAM usage going from 600-800MB to 1.3GB of RAM even with the graphic settings at the bare minimum.

And it switches its CPU priority to Below Normal which clearly is a bad thing.
  13. i'm considering cancelling my subscription too as CoH, in it's current state, is unplayable for me

Now after the patch, the game runs at a unplayable FPS even with the absolute minimum graphical settings
  17. seems to be some sort of memory leak or something because my FPS has dramatically decreased to a unplayable rate since today's patch.
