How many famous people do we know of that play CoH?

I realize that there's some degree of opinion on what constitutes "Famous", but for the sake of this question, let's just say that the person is well-known to many people for whatever it is they do.

To start the list, the ones I know of:
Mercedes Lackey, author, too much to list
Douglas Shuler, artist, several RPG and CCG projects, plus other
The Pantsless One, He Who Shall Not Be Named..... Ah, screw it. Yes, Hickman, I said your name. Not sure if we should count him, because his work on the CoH comics could make him be considered part of the CoH team, whether he currently works with them or not.
Scott Kurtz, webcomic author and artist, PvP Online. Not sure if he plays, but he must have at least a bit - his comic strips demonstrated at least passing knowledge of the game.
Chris Hastings, webcomic author/artist, Dr. McNinja (his CoH character recently cameoed in the comic)

Who else? Don't include current or previous members of the dev team, such as Zeb Cook, former Dungeons & Dragons author, who I believe held the title of Lord Recluse at one point. And if they're not commonly known to the community, let us know how you heard that they play.

Comics writer Gail Simone (Wonder Woman, Birds of Prey) used to play, but I haven't seen her on in a while.

I don't think you're going to get much more information about anyone famous that may play this game. Part of the charm is the anonymity. Most of the famous out there either want to be left alone, or to be treated like everyone else. I've never held the same awe of the rich and famous as most people seem to do. I'm much more interested in how they are as human beings. They have the same loves, dislikes, flaws, triumphs, and failures as the rest of us.

I'm Vin Diesel and Cher, hope this helps your list.

He mentioned dual pistols in a blog post in march so it looks like he's still somewhat active.

I really don't care about getting any info about them, or even getting their globals to say "Hi" or anything like that. I was just wondering what big-name people have publicly stated that they play this game.

David Nakayama plays. He's known in the comic book industry for his covers.

Oh, yeah, he's been on the CoH staff for 1 1/2 years and is now the lead art designer for CoH.

That's right, the lead artist for CoH is a well known supers comic artist.

Umm... Black Pebble... shouldn't you be advertising that?

You're fairly known yourself.

Or at least you get an air of celebrity due to your association with Chris Hansen...

Abraham Benrubi of "ER" and "Parker Lewis Can't Lose" fame is/was an admitted CoH player (at one time.) Not sure if he still plays.

So a few weeks or months later, someone(I forget who, this was at least 2 years ago if not more) told me that Jim Butcher played CoH, on my main server, and at some point had made a Dresden character.

No clue if it was actually him or just another fan, but it really got me thinking. Wonder if he still plays, I'd love to do some missions or even RP with the guy.

Also, I heard at some point Donald Faison played CoH (as well as Star Wars Galaxies).

I Know that many of (includeing the atleast one winner) of "Who Wants To Be A SuperHero" (a sci-fi reality show starring Stan "the man" Lee) play CoH/CoV. Aswell as many professional athletes in various sports.

I ran into Mercedes Lackey a couple years ago. Had to look the name up when she said she was an author. Nope, hadn't heard of her before. Haven't seen her on in a while.

I seem to recall someone talking about Jim Butcher getting /petitioned because he had a Dresden Files character, and he successfully appealed it because he did, in fact, own the character

Not sure if it's true or not, of course. May just be rumor, but my comprehension of the EULA leads me to believe it's a possibility.

I don't know that you would call him famous, but one of the pioneers of computer gaming, Scott Adams, plays CoH. I teamed with him a while ago. When he said his name, I asked if he was THE Scott Adams of Scott Adams Adventures, which he was. Is he considered famous if he has a Wikipedia entry?

That was pretty cool to me, since I remember playing some of his games on my first computer, an Atari 800.

LOCAL MAN! The most famous hero of all. There are more newspaper stories about me than anyone else. "Local Man wins Medal of Honor." "Local Man opens Animal Shelter." "Local Man Charged with..." (Um, forget about that one.)

I have a character named Spenser Dresden who is a defender, he had a magical background and I played him a lot in Croatoa on the Champion Server. He is named for Robert B. Parker's Spenser and for Butcher's Harry Dresden.
