Bravo, Devs!
I have to agree that the new heroside arcs are really good and fun to play. I want them to go back and redo all the old missions in the same style. I really liked the communication from the Agents and i felt it added a lot to the missions. I felt like i was being a hero and not a lackey.
I hope that with GR coming soon that they'll have time to revamp the older missions and story arcs to make them as good as these are. They've upped the standards for missions and how the plot the story arcs. Time to revamp all the old missions and keep of the great work.
I'm impressed
The Hero Arcs are great, but in my opinion the Villain arcs blow them out of the water. They are, by far, my favourite content in the game, ever.
Always remember, we were Heroes.
Have yet to play this one , sounds exciting . Ran the Posi 2 last night with two other heroes , and had a great time running that old mission and the boss at the end is a punk , but still was a great time . Yes bravo DEVS , you have out did yourselves again
I was just coming here to post something like this - the new arcs are fantastic.

Just gotta show more discipline next time I sit down to play. Getting too old to stay up past 2 on a work night. Headache today. Guess you could call it a "new release hangover."
I was just about to make a thread on this today, but you beat me to it!
I had a lot of fun doing Keith's arc. It felt like a fast pursuit with no downtime and was very cinematic. I can't wait to see more missions like this.
Haven't had a chance to actually play them, but I hear they are EXCEPTIONAL! REALLY can't wait for a crack at them!
If this is but the appetizer, and GR is the main course, what's for dessert?

I, too, would like to voice my appreciation. I had to stop the Nance arc when I got to the EB who kept stomping my lil' Blaster into goo and it was getting late, but I enjoyed the arc up to that point.
I knew about the evil doppelganger stuff from the build-up, but had no idea there was more to it than that. The spin on the "duplicates of you" idea was a nice surprise. I'm hoping there's a real side-by-side fight later on, but even without that it's a welcome change.
The flow is really terrific, easily the best yet, and the communicator pop-ups really keep you on your toes to pay attention, much like the Paragon/Renegade choices in Mass Effect 2. Thumbs up!

I have to agree 100%. I played the first new hero arc and was blown away by it! It was so much fun, and I hope all new mission arcs will be like this.
Also, revamping some of the old mission arcs (and some of the TFs) would be a very good idea.

See? I'm not the only one who thinks revamping old stuff would be a good idea!
I'll maybe convince someone, one of these days *smack faceplate off desk*
But yeah. The villain arcs I played through on Test...and blew my mind so much I was gleeing until 3 in the morning. 'Squee' and 'omfgomfg!' don't cover it.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

I will say the hero arc(s) were much better done than they were in beta....ouch those were tedious...but not anymore!

Also, I'd like to say that I'm impressed at the changes to Posi. Before the most common advise given was not to bring more than the minimum team, but last night I ran the Posi TF twice on different characters, and both times was on a full team of 8. EDIT: Though I am curious why Posi only has the one name for the first part now.

I too love the new arcs. Only got to play the first two missions so far, so looking forward to more.
I do have one question. I play with no sound due to permanent spousal aggro. The new 'agent voice' stuff pops up in bold speech 'bubbles' but it doesn't display in the chat window. Since sometimes those bubbles are in odd places and hard to read, I almost missed the dialogue. Is there any way to add that into the regular chat window?

I defintitely enjoyed the first Hero arc.
I didn't care for the final fight in the end of the second arc, but these things happen.

Hero side arcs: thumbs up
Villain side arcs: two thumbs up
I especially like how in the villain arcs you really feel like a villain who's trying to make his own plans and work things to his advantage. Very nice writing.
Indeed, from the beginning of Closed Beta, the new villain arcs were almost universally lauded |
As demos of the new technology the new arcs are fine; as stories, not so much.

I will join in on the chorus of bravos, with just one tentative caveat.
These missions are awesome. they do things I've not seen before, they have -scenery- I've not seen before (not sure if it's new, but it's new to -me-), and they are in all ways a blast.
My one worry is that this is just a hook for us, like the varied missions that show up early on heroside, or the plethora of cutscenes you get early as a villain, that later on seem to get thinner and thinner until you get to the high levels.
I would love for missions like this to become the new norm, and I very much hope they will.
I will be -really ticked- if this is another round game-tease, though. ;p
Is it wrong to get upset by that final mission cutscene?

Just played through Keith Nance's arc. This is the first time in a long time you've been able to keep me up past 2am saying "one more mission." The way this arc flows, the communicator callouts that function almost like a rolling cinematic, the elimination of ALL non-meaningful travel--it all added up to one great story that was a PLEASURE to play through!
You guys have finally done it. With this arc you somehow were able to finally eliminate the City of Lackeys/City of Errands sensation that for me has detracted from so much of the older content. What's more, the writing in this particular never felt like a wall of text, like some of the older content does. Instead, it was lean and effective. Most importantly, I really felt like THE protagonist of this particular little story. And I enjoyed how the new tech integrated into the missions to help keep the story moving.
If this is a taste of the sort of story driven content that we might get with GR, you've got my attention. Very pleased and looking forward to playing through the three other arcs included in this issue.
(And I really really wish you guys could get an intern or new hires to start revising some of the legacy content with some of this level of sophisticated treatment. Some excellent mythos in there, but they are a bit buried behind the dated mission and arc design. Would love to play through it all again though if the arcs flowed anywhere near as well as the Nance story does!)
A six year old game and you've got me up waaaay past bedtime on a "school" night as if Civ V had just come out... Bravo! Keep up the good work.
