Players experiencing issues related to Graphics cards
So after a few years off, my friend and I desided to give "Going rogue" expansion a try - so yesterday I bought and installed the game.
After some trubble getting it to run probertly, I adlast got it up and running, now im encountering a new problem.
My problem is, that when I try to change settings "Audio and Graphic" the game freezes, as soon I click the fan under options, and I will have to use the CTRL+ALT+DEL keys and start "Task Manager" to end the game and return to desktop.
Im running the game on a HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC, the operation system is Windows Vista 64bit, and the graphic card is an NVIDIA GeForce 9600M GT.
I have runned the game before, on this the very same notebook, with out any problems.
Can you please help me fix the problem, as I would love to play the game again, with proper audio and graphic settings.
Seems as though theres a large number of the community suffering from the same or similar syptoms

For those users with ATI cards who are experiencing input lag, a possible work around has been posted here on our Knowledge base. |
LH, I think that was a discussion/fix about shutting down the " ATI Hotkey Poller", this may help, http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showthread.php?t=219441

Have an EVGA NVIDIA 8800GT SSC connected to a Sony Z5100 TV, running Vista Home Premium SP2
EDIT: Upgraded to Nvidia 260 drivers and played...ahem...many...hours and had no display driver issues. Still crashed twice but unrelated to that.

I have a NVidia 8500 GT...
Logged on today after the patch and discovered black screens, other than the user interface. Tested another game of mine to make sure it was not a problem on my end because I had updated my driver just a few days ago.
After a few attempts of logging in, I just rolled back the card driver. Problem solved.... for now. Hope this helps as a quick fix for those reading.

Are people blue screening like myself? I just made a post - hopefully there is some clarification if it's the game or my hardware. But with this many people... I'm starting to think I should try another game
If you are having issues with the Oroboros contact screens and you have an ATI graphics card, check your drivers. I found 10.10 and 10.11 would crash the game out. If you have 10.10 or 10.11 drivers, try rolling back to 10.9
H: Blaster 50, Defender 50, Tank 50, Scrapper 50, Controller 50, PB 50, WS 50
V: Brute 50, Corruptor 50, MM 50, Dominator 50, Stalker 50, AW 50, AS 50
Top 4: Controller, Brute, Scrapper, Corruptor
Bottom 4: (Peacebringer) way below everything else, Mastermind, Dominator, Blaster
CoH in WQHD
I also rolled my drivers back to 10.9, and it fixed several problems (ATI Radeon HD 5850 Black Edition).

10.12 ATI driver is also causing crashes. (AtI Radeon 5850). Specifically, if I opened the contact window it would immediately crash the game.

I have a EVGA NVidia 9600 GT and the monitor screen randomly turns off but pc continues to run, forcing me to do a hard boot. Updated drivers - everything seemed to work at first (managed to complete a mission) but after teaming up with a friend and starting to do a mission the screen went black again - another hard boot. Thought it might be a heating issue but this is not the case - can play Star Trek Online and Age of Conan with no problems at all. Have even moved graphics slider to "minimum" but monitor still goes off (hard boot, part III). I have a support ticket submitted for this but mystified on why CoH is the only game I'm having issues with.

I've had a trouble ticket open since October. I'm running XP on a Lenovo box, with an ASUS ENGT240 (Geforce 240). I get weird crazy lag, jump graphics, mapserver disconnect in Outbreak, Breakout, and (I discovered) the Lord of Winter's realm, but the game plays pretty well otherwise. Is anyone experiencing this?
I too am running an sli 8800gt setup, and after being told to upgrademy drivers i may get one for 30 inutes and then the screen starts to pixellate, and then lines form and then whaamo blue screen. I was almost in the car to buy a new driver when my wife suggested it may be the game.........
My machine:
Sony Vaio VGN-FW530F, with Windows 7 64-bit, 4 GB of RAM, and an AMD 4650 Radeon Mobility.
I crashed out 3 times yesterday during the 1st red side Hami raid and twice on the second while on Virtue.
Sony, in their infinite wisdom has only the original factory driver available and their tech told me to "keep checking back for a possible update". The latest AMD driver is from 12/13/10 - not even a month old.
I've tried Mobility Modder, but I might be doing it wrong, but it appears the latest drivers don't work with it.
I checked Omega's website for a driver, and it looks like they no longer offer an alternative.
Sony has it setup so you have to use their driver (though why they'd do that is beyond me, it just makes me want to never buy another Sony laptop).
Do I have any other options besides reinstalling my OS to get rid of Sony's control software?
Is there another way to get my driver updated?

Any word on Crossfire support? Kinda bites seeing that SLI support is there but multi GPU support from the 'preferred' vendor doesn't exist.
New user, here. I got this game a couple of days ago and have been fighting with it since. My machine should be able to handle it at the lowest settings, but it can't, because... ATI Radeon graphics card. Note, that I know a little about computers, but not a massive amount.
I have a Dell Vostro 1000 with:
AMD Athlon 64 X2
Dual-Core Processor TK-57
1.9 GHz, 896 MB RAM
ATI Radeon Xpress 1150
Since the graphics card is integrated with CPU, it's not something I can swap out, and the drivers are version 8.31-061011a-053721C-Dell, which as far I can tell are the latest drivers, and are what came packaged with it.
Here is the skinny on the Catalyst Control Center:
Driver Packaging Version 8.31-061011a-053721C-Dell
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 6.14.10.6648
2D Driver File Path System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video/{639231E9-42C5-4439-A43C-30B49DF0E997}/0000
Direct3D Version 6.14.10.0448
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.6174
CATALYST® Control Center Version 1.2.2475.36837
I don't know if that helps, but there it is.
The major problem is that if it turn down the settings to the low-end in game, I can see what's going on, but it's painfully slow and choppy and pretty much unplayable. I turn up the settings and the screen goes black, which it seems to be a pretty common problem with ATI chipsets.
Can you help? I really, really want to play this, and I hope this is something that can be fixed.
Ha! A friend of mine on another board noticed that my drivers weren't up to date. Got it fixed, and it works beautifully now.
i am also crashing to a black screen and having to reboot system nivida 9600GT
Hi, Everyone --
CoH worked fine with my old GeForce 9500 GT, but I bought a new GTX 460 video card to take advantage of Ultra Mode properly, and after installing the latest nVidia drivers (266.58, I believe) CoH now no longer loads -- instead, it gives the dreaded "Your video card does not support ARB_multitexture" and "ARB_texture_compression" errors.
I found it unlikely that an old 9500 GT card will run CoH but not one of the newest nVidia cards (especially since I'd seen other people in the past posting about using the GTX 460, so I searched the Forums and found that I'm not alone in this ARB problem -- but there does not seem to be any common solution to it.
Below is the output of CohHelper.exe -- can anyone give me any advice as to how to get CoH to load? (Oh -- and of course, I already tried SAFE MODE, same results)

THEN install the Nvidia drivers.
Chances are Windows is still trying to use the OpenGL driver from the 9500 on the GTX 460.
