Players experiencing issues related to Graphics cards
You prevented any 3rd party programs/services from being started at computer startup.
That's not really a good long-term solution since sometimes this includes programs that should be running*. It works as a temporary measure though, and if you're so inclined you could always try to re-enable some of them one at the time, and try to determine which specific program/service causes the problem. *Very often it also includes a lot of programs that probably shouldn't be running ("crapware" and similar things), so it can be a good idea to prune the list of autostart items. However, it's not always easy to know which items to remove, and which to keep. |
Two of the cowboys are having a very serious conversation. After what seems like an eternity, you finally hear: "I would be extremely interested to know what the third party applications are that are causing this problem."
"Please let me know if you figure out what programs are causing the input delay in CoV. Most of the time people's problems stem from not playing enough red side, but any problem that actually keeps you from playing red side drives me crazy."
WOOT!!!! this worked for me...I just have no idea what I have done to my computer...if anyone could explain that would be nice, but for now time to go get a few supplies for a long night of wrasslin with the new stuff (mainly trying to get my brain damaged noggin to learn the new AH ui, from what I've been reading and what I had a quick look at it seems a lot more complicated and unweildy then the last one.
This is me...BB..Signing off, thankful I didn't end up watching our countries Prime Ministerial debate this evening and can go kick some evil but (and good but, I am an equal opportunity super power creatOr ) THANKYOU MR TV AND ALL YOU AT THE TECHIE TEAM FOR GIVING ME BACK MY SANITY (well whats left of it ) |

No lag, I can't see anything. Well, tha'ts not true, I can see my characters names on the selection screen but the rest is black. I can even log in and see other peoples character names floating around in a black void.

So far I had all the shield designs not load up. The 1 pattern will that is used for supergroups but not the other ones. But I haven't been in game again to check. I'm refering to the character creation screen, cuz i deleted a toon with a shield that i thought I did colors wrong on it.
Turn's out it's a glitch from this update and wasn't my mistake.

So far, everyone I have talked to who has had this issue was able to resolve it by either:
(Edit: this issue = the input lag problem)
(Edit Edit: input lag problem does not = framerate issue. You may have to lower your settings if your framerate is too low)
(Edit Edit Edit: What is your OS? --question courtesy of Texas Justice)
1) updating their drivers or
2) turning off other third party software that was interfering with CoH. Examples are ATI hotkey poller and the Google desktop thing.
Please (please) contact tech support if you're having trouble doing the above. They have specific steps that you can follow to verify that this is what's going on and find the actual problem.
blah blah blah...play CoV and watch Television.
I had an issue after i17 installed, my log in was OK but the charactor Screen for each of the servers had lines and was almost unviewable as if the video card had failed.
It is a new card and according to the new "Ultra Window" is able to handle the new settings.
I chose "no change" to my settings clicked on a random charactor and entered the game.
Screen was white and all I could see was My chars name and Arch, Target, Nav and Options, so I chose new ultra setting logged off then back on and all worked well, but a few lag issues required the new FSAA setting to be lowered to 4X, all is good now, still tweeking the settings to get optimal play.

The Tech support guy is talking about how hardly anyone is calling them about I17, and that they've only gotten a handful of tickets.
Tech support is pleading with the great players of CoV to please contact them so that the streets of the Rogue Isles can be filled with their happy faces once again.
Finally, Tech support kindly suggests that you are not watching enough Television, and asks you to try to up your daily dosage.

Apparently, I play "City of Shakespeare"
*Arc #95278-Gathering the Four Winds -3 step arc; challenging - 5 Ratings/3 Stars (still working out the kinks)
*Arc #177826-Lights, Camera, Scream! - 3 step arc, camp horror; try out in 1st person POV - 35 Ratings/4 Stars

In Windows 7 this is renamed to the AMD External Events Utility.
I'm not certain about Vista and don't really feel like switching OS loads just to look at that service, sorry.
*Looks for the remote control so that he can try to reprogram The Television with the codes for asking what OS people are using when they report that they don't have the ATI HotKey Poller service.
Decides to ask pohsyb for a better user interface for controlling The Television instead. Everyone knows pohsyb is the Awesomesauce of the PS Programming crew.*
If the game spit out 20 dollar bills people would complain that they weren't sequentially numbered. If they were sequentially numbered people would complain that they weren't random enough.
Black Pebble is my new hero.

Another reason is the graphical issue that lag out the game or cover everything with horrifically distorted graphics(not my issue, but have seen plenty of this on the forums). Wither of these makes it unfeasible to make a Bug report.
Another--albeit 'minor'--is the change to the Enhancement's size. The level numbers are hard to read with a large monitor, and impossible to read with a small one(I have a 14"). Respecs are barely feasible with this change; making the free Respecs granted more of a tease than a treat. This was bugged in Beta, but seemingly disregarded and put to Live anyway. It appears we were(and are) not heard.
It feels more was broken than was added to the game with this issue. It's as though it were rushed out to meet the anniversary, and before all the kinks were ironed out(Yes bugs always accompany a big Issue, but this really has taken off the shine).
Live patch on a issue should be an exciting day.
More or less the feeling (at least mine) from this has been disappointment. No, I'm not whining to whine(I did my share of that back with the debacle that was ED). This is a honest response. For the first time I'm disappointed with the game I love. That just makes me sad.
[Okay, yes I got very much off topic. I guess this has been just sitting in me for a bit]

Well, one reason is we cannot send bug reports. After using the new Market UI, the various market button are grayed out and do not respond to any click. This carries over to the various other virtual buttons; Send Petition or Send Bug Report doesn't work.

A /bug report will never get you a response. If you're having a technical issue you should go to the support site (help.ncsoft.com) and submit a ticket.

Perhaps I should sum up what I was saying: Frustrated with the state of Live. So are others. We giving up rather than seeking help that is proving hard to get due to state of Live.

My own issues fall under /bug. Can't send those. Nor Petitions.

Also, regarding the greyed out buttons, for most players it seems to be caused by running into the 'you've done too many auction transactions too fast' buffers. Once they're greyed out, they don't ungrey themselves after a short while as they should. Quit to the Desktop and log back in and they should be available again. It has to be to the Desktop and not just to the login screen. Go slow on the auctions and avoid the buffers of doom and the buttons should stay a nice bright blue.
If that doesn't fix it for you as it did for me, then you're going to have to bite the bullet and get in touch with support via the website.

I don't know if this is my graphics card or not but my problem is the game keeps crashing. When the new Issue came out I rolled a Widow, soloing her is fine, but when I get on a team my game crashes. Has happened four times already tonight so I am forced to solo with her. Never had any problems with the game crashing while I was on teams before the Issue came out. When it happens my screen goes black and then the game doesn't respond. Then I get a pop-up saying that my Display Drive crashed and that it's now working again. I don't know what to do other than not team with her. Haven't gone to see if this happens while teaming blue-side but I will do that momentarily.

It disabled everything, except my virus protection I think. What items do you think I should change to leave running, and how to get a list of things to ask with as well. Either way, I do a bit of surfing and play this game on my computer. It all went ok after this temporary fix, and until they find out how to fix it totally, like they did with the /sync bug this will suffice for now....

A list of the programs/services you disabled can be found in the same place you disabled them, with msconfig under the Startup and Services tabs.
If you want to try to track down which program(s)/service(s) is causing the issue, you could re-enable them a few at the time (there's a checkbox for each item), and see if/when the problems return.
Once you identify a set that causes the problem, disable them one at the time, until you can (hopefully) narrow it down to one (or a few) programs.
I'd suggest that you start with the Startup items, and leave Services for later.
If you having graphical issues (not being able to see your character at the login screen for example) and you've already updated to the latest drivers, then you might want to also try the game's safe mode (checkbox at the user agreement screen).
Ranks up there with all the people QQing in WW and the BM after closing the MOTD without reading the Known Issues popup. I had several people tell me that they "never got it." Everyone gets that message, that's why it drives me nuts sometimes.
