I don't know why it redirects me to the EU website, but I don't understand a lot of these things.

Of course, whether they actually generated real revenue is another question, and maybe the fact that we're not seeing them anymore is the answer to that.
Again, the way you worded your response made it sound like that sort of thing hadn't already happened. Could you perhaps have meant, "If we ever do it AGAIN..." ?

And getting game review sites to update the information they have sounds good too. How CoH and CoV have been combined, Power Customization, AE, all the Boosters, etc, etc.
Getting a prime time network ad might be out of the question, but there's also G4, Cartoon Network, Boomerang!, Syfy, and Spike, among others. And I don't even watch much TV. Given the option, I'd rather be playing a video game.
Sure Marvel and DC are the Big Two for superheroes with their own impending MMOs, but they carry ads for the competition all the time. There's also Image, Dark Horse, IDW, and BOOM! too, among others.
And with things like the Natural/Ninja Booster, and the impending Kinetic Melee, why not put an ad focusing on that in anime and manga sites/magazines?
I'd also be game for a street team. Provide some sort of promo material that could be handed out at smaller conventions.
And for the in-game billboards, I think it's a grand idea. Hasn't been implemented so well to this point though. Showing ads for high-end sneakers to MMO players? Really?! What about food, electronics, movies, and music, that sort of stuff? And getting stylized ads in CoV with graphitti or Arachnos propaganda plastered in the corner would be even cooler, but aren't some companies picky about how their product gets shown? Granted a Burger King hamburger is a bit different from the cars that various companies don't want to be shown as damaged in racing games, but still, big companies can be silly.

This is like having Ra's Al Ghul show up at your birthday party.
CoH costume java applets and apple applets or make the website more mobile friendly and offer access VIA internet to the costume creator. (People love using the costume creator. IMPROVE IT. update it. Make it free and allow anyone to use it outside the game on their iphones, androids, etc.) Allow people who are not subscribers access to the costume creator as well (This is a HUGE consumer draw.)
Posters for comic shops. MORE interviews and information leaks with gaming magazines.
bumper stickers, T-shirts, comics, merchandise. Seriously, your customers are your best marketing resource, Exploit Us.
Show more interest in the community and promote community events and activities. (I guarantee those artists and video makers would LOVE you promoting their stuff. or featuring their work on the front page or in interviews. A going rogue video contest would be nice.)

I didn't read the whole thread, but here are some comments:
1) Commercials? No way. There should be efficient, targeted advertising!
2) Billboards: Could the ingame Billboard interface be used for player ads and such? I would have loved to see game events advertised on them. Perhaps if players got some free ad-space for their events, they wouldn't mind some real ads being mixed in.
Also, ads for shoes and cell-phones just aren't our demographic. Ads for movies, other games(!), and such might be more in line. Maybe services like Steam might be interested?
3) Could a better program be put in place to reward players for recruitment efforts. Maybe allow players to earn some of your fancy costume powers for recruiting subscribing players (in addition to the free month)? Also, perhaps some official global channels (note:global, so everyone can help!) could be create for new players, in which new/trial accounts are automatically enrolled, but optional for existing players.
4) Why are paid respecs soooo expensive? Truly, $2 or $3 seems more realistic for their value with so many free options available to us already. Do you even sell any of them right now? Honestly, I feel like all of the paid services (except character slots) could have their prices turned down.
5) More character slots. I know right? Before we had 12 per server, now we have 36(!), and with GR around the corner that's still not enough! This is especially true if GR is going to come with some more character slots, as the web page hints. Perhaps this is already in the works, but if not, put it in the works!

Big problem I don't have an official in-game character or costume yet. I'm not sure I can get that taken care of by next week. It turns out I've actually got stuff to do since I guess for some reason next week is a big deal.

When it comes to conventions really the way to get people to want to play the game is letting them play it. It would be cool if CoX did some sort of game tourney at PAX. Like pit some groups against each other with different difficulty settings.
I know for me watching my other half play is what really got me to want to play, that combined with just getting to mess around in the character creator.
As for in game advertising, have you guys ever thought to open this up to players? I mean charge a nominal fee and let super groups and such do advertising on their server for recruitment. Or for the events people to put up billboards for upcoming events.
It makes some money, uses the system that isn't being used right now, and its not advertising likely to urk people. Just make sure it gets moderated because obviously ads shouldn't stand out to much.
I just thought of a question.

If you check them out, most of Samuraiko's videos open with her logo prominently appearing on a black background.
It's sometimes hard to see thanks to video compression, but through that entire sequence, your rednamesake- a black pebble- is RIGHT THERE. In fact, the Black Pebble is there before Samuraiko's own logo... and stays there after hers fades out.
... I think Black Pebble even appears through the credits.
