Hello from Paragon Marketing

While this thread has probably already outlived it's intent, just want to point out that Black Pebble's focus seemed to be marketing the GAME to non-players... not marketing stuff TO players inside the game. That's likely something else entirely.

I'd like to point out that he'd better say something this week so I'm not out a cool million!

Hmmmm.. no posts since the 17th.

It seems the wave of responses he/she got has washed the Black Pebble right back out of the forums.


Maybe they are actually going to use some of our ideas and he/she had to get to work.

Didn't expect to run into Lord Recluse so randomly. I like it. Go subtle marketing. Then again, I'm not sure how old this is, so ignore me if I ran into something ancient.

Got about to page 12 before having to put in my two cents.

The people who have mentioned Big Bang and the product placement are right (or at least they are in my experience). I last played way back before I7 but drifted away due to Rl issues and let my subscription expire.

It was only recently when I was watching Big Bang and saw the CoH logo on something that I realised how long it had been since I played and how much fun I had when playing. The very next day I went out looking to buy a copy of Good V evil edition (which I couldn't bloody well find in any store, thats something you need to fix. Not all of us have unlimited internet access and want to download 3 gig of data or however much it is these days).

Now I have my subscription back up and have no intention of letting it expire again. So yeah, TV advertising works.

Here's an idea for marketing.....TV. Why have i never seen not 1 TV promo for this??? Ever since the game came close to releasing, it would have been a prime idea to get commercial slots after trailers for all the super hero movies that came out this decade. Alot of people at my job who play mmos didn't even know this existed till i told em bout it.

Ah the Nemesis Horse, one of the coolest looking things not in game...

One thing i would like to see is more CoH comics. Even if its not the Freedom Phalanx who are featured there are plenty of signature chars in the game. Having comics out there as good as some of the old CoH comics were would get attention and leave a presence in comic stores.

Also i kinda like the in-game ads too but maybe not shoes next time.

Okay, had to share this one.

Just went to see IRON MAN 2. (This is not a review.) And before the movie, they showed a trailer for the Iron Man game... with something like the tagline of "Two Heroes... something something something."

Okay, all well and good. But for the four COH players sitting in a row, we had the thought:

"Why just only two heroes? Or even a hero at all?"

And boom, we could just imagine an ad for COH: GOING ROGUE there.

Even if putting a trailer before a movie like TRON: Legacy or THOR or CAPTAIN AMERICA is beyond your budget, what about those Screen Advertisement things you see in theatres before the movie starts? Feed a seriously cool still for GR (or flash animation thing) and get it into circulation in theatres like Harkins or AMC or whatever as a limited run during the first two weeks or month of a film's release. That has to be cheaper than trying to distribute a full-on trailer before a movie, if that's too expensive.

But you've got a primed audience sitting there staring at the screen - why should Xbox and PS3 be the only ones putting up still ads on stuff like that?

Just a suggestion, BP. Run with it.
