Hmm. I just looked at that link. That sounds awesome. I wonder what kinda game engine they'll be using for it.

Even if this means that they're working on CoH2, they're likely just starting on it. On top of that, they're coming out an expansion on City of Heroes original flavor in a few months. They're not going to deep-sixing that investment for at least a couple of years.

CoH2 + The AION / Crytek engine = a lot of awesomeness. If this came to pass I'd be all over it.

Theta Zim - lvl 50 Tri-form Warshade, Nightshade Zim - lvl 50 Dark/Dark/Psi Defender

Man, now that would be freakin' amazing!

Wasn't there a job position being advertised that mentioned quadruped design experience in the description?

Speculatory speculation is spec-
Yeah, I'm trying to stop myself too. It *would* probably be awesome. But GR is coming sooner, so...yaaah.

That would be wonderful. If there's one thing I wish CoH had, it's Aion's face/body sliders. If/when a sequel comes to be, I hope it's got sliders that good :P

Found anotbher link too. Nothing to jump for joy over but it shows they might be considering a counter blow to DCUO AND SWTOR once thier opening dust settles.

I don't think so I agree with DB they just don't want someone else using it.

This is interesting, as rumors of a sequel have circulated for awhile. I actually think it would be a good idea, but this might be NCsoft just taking precautionary steps without necessarily having something concrete planned.

you really believe "IF" paragon studios gets the green light and funding to update their franchise they wouldn't be considering a coH2 with a new gaming engine and updated middleware with their logo and not cryptics on it?

As critical and vocally opinionated as I am about the development team and the rest of paragon studios staff, they have something awesome here and I want nothing but success for them and for the future of this game.

Time will tell. d;D

Predictable non-committal response from NCSoft:

"City of Heroes is a flourishing franchise and continues to be the world's most popular super-powered hero MMO. While we cannot comment on City of Heroes 2 at this time, NCsoft is proud of City of Heroes' success and is looking forward to future product launches associated with the franchise, including the City of Heroes Going Rogue expansion scheduled for release this July."

You guys are way off, CoH 2 confirmed! What is the appropriate amount of time to wait after this obvious announcement before we can start complaining about game balance?

Just before closed beta starts.

If they're making it, I wonder if we cold move our avatars over to it?
I don't mean the actual models, just the things like Inf and any relevant badges?

I'd just assume start with a clean sheet. Get rid of all the baggage.

Doubtful. One would hope they have an entirely new set of badges in a City sequel (It might not even take place in Paragon City!), and moving Inf over to a new game would give current players a tremendous advantage and wreak havoc with a new economy.

Maybe they would let us camp names, but my guess is they will go with a CO-style universal naming system so this won't be an issue.

The problem with releasing a sequel is a fragmentation of the existing player base. Even with new people trying out the game, it's almost guaranteed to have less players than CoX does now in the longer term. Unless, of course, they shut down the current game.
