My own:
Lady Arete
Possibilities:
Greek/Roman: Athena
Chthonic deities: Hecate
Greek/Persian myth: Phoenix
Germanic: Odin
Cyrene
Possibilities:
Greek/Roman: Apollo (music)
Sea deities: Neireides/Galene or mostlikely a Siren.
Other: Hamadryad/dryad.
Germanic: Freyja
Edit:
I would imagine BackAlly Street Brawler is incarnate of Ares.
Valkyrie would be suitable for Ares aswell. Or in norse... well hmm her name would be a give away.
Manticore in greek, maybe Artemis?

I think they may go with a broader term for Incarnates. I mean i know the well of the Furies tied to the Greco/Roman gods but i see it as that was just one way to become an incarnate.
Definition: 1 a : invested with bodily and especially human nature and form b : made manifest or comprehensible.
Bascally anything can have an incarnate. This leaves a lot more room for character ideas. And a perfect example from the comic books? The Flash. He is an incarnate of the Speed Force. Anyway thats my 2 inf.
Who would your toons be incarnates of?
For the sake of fun, you will not be restricted to the Greco/Roman Pantheon, you can even give example what they'd be within that Pantheon and what they'd be outside of it. And just to add to the fun, let's also consider who canon characters, besides States. Lord Recluse, and Stheno, would be. Sakura "Tenshi" Sakuraba- Greco/Roman: Nike Other: Coyote |
I like ObiWan's ideas of a broader range of incarnates.
I doubt it will be anything so rigid and un-flexible as 'Pick your Greek god/dess of choice'. I would hazard a guess at something that lets us make signature powers of our own, given the sticky about it somewhere...I think?
Either that, or a wider array of powers to pick from than just specific deity's. I would hope, anyway.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Off topick Radmind What helmit is that guy on the far left useing? I can't figure out what helmet that is. It looks freaking cool.
On topic I would think that the Incarnate system is very broad allotting for the maxim amount of creative space for us to use. The Devs hasve said many times they have been impressed/amazed at the diversity we players can acheave with MA with our costumes and backstorys. I can't see them taking ANY of that away from us. In any way shape or foum.
All that said
Major Skipper would be an incarnate of Death hes pure evil and hates just about every thing. I guess you could say hes an incarnation of the Ragnarok but even that would pale in comparison to what he wants to do.
Rivona Wouldn't really fit in to a system like this shes totally insane a vanguard power armor project gone wrong being able to generate nearly unlimited amounts of super heated plasma and directional thermal radiation I cant think of any thing she would care about if she could even remember it for long enough.
Crab Spider Webguard is on a secret mission for Mako and has Makos pool powers. I cant think of any reason he would even want more power. He thinks of him self as a pawn of Mako and Lord Recluse. And hes content with that if he had more power he could be a threat to Mako and LR he wouldn't want that.
And my guesses for canon characters...

I'm hoping they keep the incarnate lore unintrusive enough that a player can explain the incarnate powers as their character's own superpowers.
My main will be an incarnation of himself.
There are no words for what this community, and the friends I have made here mean to me. Please know that I care for all of you, yes, even you. If you Twitter, I'm MrThan. If you're Unleashed, I'm dumps. I'll try and get registered on the Titan Forums as well. Peace, and thanks for the best nine years anyone could ever ask for.
Mine:
Unstar, gravity/radiation controller: Uranus (makes sense, given that he is literally a celestial body)
Eldrix the Blackbird, grav/energy dom, and her Praetorian counterpart Beata the Dove, grav/FF troller: Hecate (Witchcraft, souls, and crossroads. Perfect.)
Charlotte Aranea, Widow: If I don't say Arachne here I'm just being stupid. Arachne is MADE for a standard female VEAT.
My scrapper, Zenith Fighter X, is an alien, so her goddess would be not of this earth - even though she'd be a dynamite Athena.
My Storm/Energy/Psy Defender, Heliostorm, is supposed to be a minor aspect of Rularuu; if he somehow gets access to Spines powers as an Incarnate, he'd have all the Rularuu Soldier powers. So if he became an Incarnate of any deity, it would probably be Rularuu. But if I have to go Greco-Roman pantheon...Ouranos? Hyperion?

I think it'd be quite easy for them to say that the Well of the Furies is just the name the ancient Greeks called it, but that's it's actually a power source that's not linked to any single culture.
Like how we call them volcanos, even though they're not actually specific to ancient Roman culture.

Of course, it wouldn't be the first time I've taken the cafeteria approach to canon, or just outright contradicted it, but still.
I have a character named T H U N D E R who has lightning based powers so Zeus would be a good fit. But his background is native american and I always considered him to posses an entity like the phoenix force from x-men, but that his is a thunderbird.
Atom Basher: A combination of Atlas & Dionysius
Golden Centurion: Ares
Caledonian: Belatu-Cadros
With this particular game-world, the 'incarnate' powers manifested themselves not only in the Gods but in the Heroes. Going by what we see in Cimerora and in Positron's personal table-top game he played with players who arrived early at the last Hero Con (which constitutes background lore we haven't seen in-game) we have:
Zeus/Imperious/Statesman Positron/Daedalus Sister Psyche/Sister Solaris Ghost Widow/Sister Airlia Synapse/Marathon (yeah, I know) Manticore/Orion Citadel/Parthenon (yeah, I know) |
So that might mean that they could use words rather than characters for the tech and science based avatars, to keep the magical part totally in the background.

Vincent Morse, the Snake-Hybrid, is already an Incarnate. He's one of S'theno's progeny, so he gets his powers from the same source.
As for my other characters... Hm...
NightErrant: Not really sure... His backstory indicates that he gets his powers from his position as Guardian of the Mu homeland (which in turn is linked to his armor) So he's linked more to the concept than any particular deity.
Morgan Serif: Circe, for her knowledge of magical potions and that one time she turned a man into a snake.
Tempus Freakout- Chronos. Time powers. :P
Duskshooter: Pluto. He just didn't make the cut to be a planet.... He's also a Nictus inhabiting the corpse of a Void hunter.
Bill Hyde: Beowulf. ...He's not a deity. But it fits in an odd way.
As for Operative Halfway, The Savage Spider, and Detective Mort... No clue.

"I don't need no stinkin' Incarnate powers fool, behold my pimp slappin' powers!"
*SMACK!*
"Don't you be askin' no more stupid questions!"
If we can all become incarnates, then wouldn't all the AVs and other enemies try and get the same powers too?
Maybe some of the new zone events will involve something like that?

With incarnates announced as a future update, I wanted to lay this thread down here to pass some of the time with the question...
