There's obviously no way I'll be able to get tickets/passes to the session, (since they're sold out for that day) but I'm sure I'll be there for the Meet & Greet that evening; just name the time and place.

Make sure its a big place; lotsa new englanders and east coasters around here that I'm sure will find the time to chat and drink and shmooze with our Paragonian overlords.

If our Paragon Studios crew find the time to drive an hour south of Boston to Providence, Rhode Island that fateful weekend, there happens to be a place with the right name to go to - Cafe Paragon. They have a 10am to 2pm Sunday brunch menu that might fit your schedule, depending on when you're flying back home. It's a small restaurant, but one of the best in the city. Would be a unique place to say you've been to...in Rhode Island of all (game) places!

I have decided that I am going to fly up just for the Meet and Greet Saturday night, and then fly home Sunday morning. So I hope there are lots of things from Herocon for sale at the M-n-G. Hint. Hint.

I know the NCSoft employees will have limited capacity to bring stuff, but I would be really jazzed if someone could russle up one of the '09 Herocon T-shirts in a size Large that I could swap the never-worn size 2XL t-shirt I got in my non-attendee Goody Bag for some reason. I would be so extra grateful to the person who could do that, that I would buy their drinks for an hour.

As for anyone who wants to attend the con on Saturday to see the panel, head on over to the PAXEast forums: http://forums.penny-arcade.com/forumdisplay.php?f=26 There is a thread there for people who want to buy and sell their tickets. The going rate for a Saturday-only pass seems to be about $50-$60 and a 3-day pass about $100.

If I could have gotten a 1-Day pass for the original $35, I'd go to the con, but I'm not going to do that for $50+. It's a shame this isn't available for San Diego Comic-con, for which I really want a 4-day pass.

Don't worry, it kills us just as equally if not more so.

Was that the same tour that put you at the First 9and last) Annual WizardWorld Boston?

Yum! I ate at Cafe Paragon all too often when I was a risd student. The boursin burger is the best!

The sell-out is a bummer, but maybe I can come to the Meet n' Greet with my better half. I am always complaining about the darn westies getting all the attention -- now's our chance to geek it up! Wicked pissah!

Ok so this is coming to Boston and we are hearing about this now and pax for saturday is sold out so we cannot get in to attend the panel we can do the meet and greet, will the people attending the meet and greet be able to get stuff like at herocon the costume cards and stuff like that? just wondering because people that went to comic con and herocon did and I know this isn't the same thing as that but this is the only chance people from the east coast have

Thats normal, even for PAX in Seattle. Schedules don't normally go up till 6 weeks prior at a minimum. I also imagine they're a bit slammed now with the extra attention since its now sold out.

A bunch of stuff however was announced:

Yeah, they said on the forums that they didn't expect to post a schedule or a list of attendees until the first week of March at the earliest. When I said I thought that was really odd, they seemingly looked at me like I'd grown a third eye. Apparently east coast gamers are so ravenous for a gaming convention that they will trust the fates that it will be awesome.

Not that there's any reason it shouldn't be since PAX obviously has a historyt of putting on good conventions, I'm just one of those people who likes to see what's on the menu before I fork over a bunch of cash for dinner.

Well, they do have a track record of excellent cons, and for the most part the gaming is the attraction, not the exhibitors or panels.

I also get the feeling that the PAX organizers are a little more loosey goosey than more established cons (Gen Con, Dragon Con, etc.). As mentioned above, they run PAX Prime the same way...

I'm a little surprised at all the complaining here. This is the first major appearance of the devs on the East Cost, and you don't need PAX tickets to go to the Meet N' Greet. The fact that PAX East is sold out might be the only reason why they're coming, so it's tough to fault them for not announcing it sooner.

Well and I read that the panels were only very recently approved. So its possible they couldn't tell us because they simply didn't know if the panel was going to be approved or not.

Around 20 years ago, I took a train to Boston for a job interview. It took something on the order of 12 hours and the berth was 200 bucks round trip split 4 ways (so $50 both ways for me). I enjoyed the trip, including the train trip. So when they announced the meet-n-greet, I figured I'd do it again. My gods, the passenger train industry must be a mess.

The trip will take 36 and a half hours and a single seat (no berth, no sleeper compartment) runs $160 each way. Wow, do we need a better rail transport system in this country.

Probably not at the show itself, but there may be time for sketches at the Meet n' Greet. Don't hold me to it just yet, but I'll look into it.
