Liquid, I based my answer off of what I read on the Champ boards. If I drew the wrong conclusion, it was because of what the Champ players were saying.

I was going to say that it's premature to think that CO is stumbling already, but after reading and digesting the "State of the Game" thread, I have to agree with PP. It sounds like they are charging for the equivalent of Peregrine Island from I2. If the game truly has a dearth of content (I only made it to 19 on my main), then it takes cojones to start charging for zones this early, especially when you have Lifetime subscribers who expected more for their initial investment.

And the timing on this "Announcement" was pretty poor. Champ-O has been out about 5 months, and it is time for the 6-month subscribers to re-subscribe. The game has some nice things, but is severely lacking in content, and most of the players expected Cryptic to add more content over time as free issues. Instead, they get (1) a 3 days per month repeat of the BloodMoon event (Champ-O's Halloween event), and (2) Flashback missions to redo the content you have already done or missed the first time around. The only real additional content is a new zone that is a paid expansion -- pricing not set yet. Many of the Lifetime Subscribers are really ticked off.
So, yeah, PP makes a good point. This would be a good time to advertise that there is a better superhero game that has a long history of being good to the playerbase.

With the company, and who they put in charge I saw this coming. Roper crashed HGL with his arrogance, and horrible management. I agree with PP, now is the time to do a huge marketing dump.

Its great just for the sheer positive free advertising they're giving us over on their boards! Some of the players who havent played this game before, are now tempted to try us!
With GR and a so called MASSIVE content update soon after, this year looks VERY promising

Last I looked (c.18 hrs ago) the only official info about the 'expansion' effectively said:
- It's a mini-expansion (less than the size of a boxed expansion);
- It's a zone (Vibora Bay iirc);
- It's level 37-40;
- It will be sold rather than free.
* a similar amount of content to the 30-40 zones providing many hours of level 40 play (I hesitate to say endgame) sold for a nominal $1;or it could be
* a handful of missions that level 40s will blast through in an hour and it's being punted at $20.Given that (iirc) the game dropped 2 zones from it's launch plans, is still very light on content and is so young, it's a little poor that they attempt to sell this (when I'm guessing it was very possibly postponed from launch plans). But the former of the above two scenarios is pretty trivial and probably shouldn't greatly negatively affect the user-base.
Oh - and Ouroboros-type functionality is old content to CO as the whole idea of it is so you can replay the existing missions. I fail to see how anyone could really try justifying that as new content (rather than a new way to access content at your level) without their tongue firmly in their cheek.
It's good to have, and worthwhile as a free update (as it is) but it shouldn't really count as 'new' content.
