Generally news/announcements seem to come pretty late in the day. Often as late as 7 or 8 PM EST (afaik).

I remember reading about it being 1-20, but I have been out of the CoH news loop. Still better than 37-40 and I think it's a safe bet the level range for that area will go up.

From what I've read/understand, it's 1-20 and then when you reach a certain lvl (40/45 ?) you can/go back to Praetoria to switch sides (if you wanted to). So maybe 1-20, 40-50?

If only there were more information about this whole GR thing...

This is what I know about the whole 1 to 20 thing...

Thats all they have said.

That does not mean that is all there is. I think, it will be alot more than that. I think it will be more like CoV... where we got an entire game. (not saying it will be that much, but I think it will be more like that)

this is hilarious.
I expected them to fail because their team was made up of all the tone-deaf clowns NC basically fired for dragging down this game, but this flameout has exceeded my expectations.

I'm a little surprised, because the game itself wasn't necessarily bad. I picked it up for ten bucks during that Steam sale and poked around the low levels and it was pretty fun. Some nice character options, the zones & gameplay were alright although the sense that it was just re-skinned WoW was growing stronger by the time the new CoD lured me away for good.

That's some profound mis-management there.
I can't wait to see how States ruins STO!

One of their Devs, Arkayne posted something today that basically said, The game is doing GREAT!!!...

And I read it like wow... Where can I buy some of those blinders... They seem to be really effective.

This is provable fact. Just look at movie tie in games. They are, without fail, all utter, utter [Warning Explicit Lyrics!]
Arn't most games, by definition, made for Profit? Last I knew, Blizzard wasn't releasing World of Warcraft for a hearty handshake and lunch.

I think he emans if that's the only aim of making the game - for example, Bioware make huge amounts of cash from their games, and each new one they make they'll be aiming for it to make them even more cash - but they do still seem to make them with a love of the game too.

He'll have already laid the groundwork for that - but now he'll be moving onto the next Cryptic MMO now that he's set up STO for success.

Actually, we've been told that characters who start in Praetoria are forced to choose between Hero and Villain (or at least, Vigilante and Rogue) by lv20. The side-switching arcs will probably be playable at all levels, and there may be some 45-50 content, but Praetoria is basically just 1-20.

Yep that is what they said like a million months ago. Just because you have to pick Hero villain by level 20 does not mean you cant go straight back after picking.

They never said that.

I just dont think (HOPE) our devs would really doom us to playing the same stale missions we have already been doing for the past 5 years.

Consider the amount of time going into GR (a year, maybe a year and a half), along with the scope of the things being included (especially Ultra Mode, while not part of GR, is being developed in parallel), and the fact that GR is only an expansion, not a new game nor an "expanshalone" like CoV was. It's extremely unlikely that Praetoria will have 1-50 content, or even 1-40 content.

On the other hand, given time in the future, I wouldn't be surprised if the content in Praetoria is expanded past 1-20.

Although they did say that the "epic new storyline" is only 1-20.

I'm really hoping this isn't the case. Personally I enjoy the 1-20 game as much as, if not more than, the second half of the game, but it's clear there's a lot of people who regard those levels as just something to get through before the game gets 'good'.

1-20 only would be burned through in a matter of days (hours for some people) and after 20 levels of shiny new Praetorian goodness it'd be a bit of a letdown to be forced back into the same old Paragon City content that is really showing its age.

It's quite possible that there will be new arcs available every few levels or so, like the Kheldians have - but it's very unlikely that there'll be a totally new 1-50 levelling path available - if there was, then there'd be no need to make CoH/V required to play GR.

Sure I love the low levels like 1 through 10 times, after that its just something to get through... The meat and potatoes of this game is grinding til 50. I am really hoping - REALLY - that they dont expect us to do the same stuff.

I get it, they said 1 to 20 along time ago. That does NOT mean they wont add to that in the coming weeks. Please stop with your DOOM AND GLOOM. Leave the doom to Champions Online.

I admit I just got COH last Saturday, after all the crap going on at CO. So far, I like COH, though I think it could learn a few things from CO. I'd love to see an improved character creator and earlier granted travel powers, anyways.

Actually, you'd be suprised how much the character creator has improved since launch. We originally didn't have a lot of things like Capes, Wings, and Power Customization. It should also be kept in mind that CoH set the standards that CO is now trying to surpass.

If everyone starts thinking GR is going to be like CoV, then there would be doom and gloom when it launches

It was mentioned at Hero Con that Heroes, Villains, Vigilantes and Rogues would all have access to Praetoria. It seems rather unlikely to me that that would be so if all you could do there is stand around. Now, I wouldn't be surprised if content was relatively sparse ( at least at first ) compared to a full fledged separate game, and the idea was that you'd do older missions interspersed with the Praetorian stuff. But I really, really doubt the "nothing to do after 1-20" scenario some people have been pushing. A mere normal free Issue brought us Grandeville and enough content for 40-50 after all.

I thought (and thusly expect), from what I've read and seen, for Going Rogue to be an actual expansion, will not have as much content as COV, but won't be priced like COV was either. I"m expecting a whole new starting experience in Praetoria, and that there will be the ability to gradually change sides so I'm expecting GR content for the whole spectrum of levels (although not necessarily in Praetoria). I'm expecting two new powersets, no new ATs, etc.

Am I off base with that, or does that seem about right? Expectation management is a HUGE thing, and its too easy to get over hyped (or over DOOOOOOOMed).

I'm expecting it to have about the same amount of content - but not the same type of content

In case you don't know, the first two mayhem/safeguard missions have temp. travel powers.

Pargaon Wiki should be able to walk you through the process.

I'm expecting the side switching process to be one or more story arcs which you can do at any level and can repeat as many times as you like. That's my only expectation for lv20-45 GR content.

If you're expecting GR to have the same amount of content as CoV, I'm expecting you to be disappointed.
