So from the previews, videos, and bios they've released so far....I'm thinking Tyrant and his army from the alternate world will actively be attacking our world. I wonder if it will be like Rikti invasions as far as how the war is carried out. I also wonder if any zones will be redone to look as though they are the frontline of a war.

Hm. This might make sense for the whole "Praetoria is 20 and under" thing. You prove yourself powerful enough, Cole ships you off to the fronts to fight the enemy. (primal earth heroes) This makes the primal side stamp you with the 'villain' tag, as you are an 'aggressor.' The resistance tries to stop Cole's forces, (again, waiting for you to prove yourself) something primal earth's heroes can get behind, dubbing the resistance as good guys.

That's the way I think it might work out - except that I think it won't involve an invasion - I think it's more likely you'll be sent as an agent/spy to scout out Primal Earth for a future invasion.

Hmm. Hadn't thought of it like that. Sounds possible.

Hallowed; I get what you are saying, and I admit I was in the very wrong here. However, being patronising is a surefire way to *not* sort things out. You comments might not seem offensive to you, but they were to me. Make of that what you will. And, since the disabling of comments, I've not bothered with the rep feature on the boards anymore.
Hell, I'll give you some to balance it out

Either way; NPC or PC or w/e...Resistance armour is still shiny.
So...can we poke the tech guys to give Jay the tech to make even more shinies?
I commend you on the deletions. I'm a "I'll stand by what I've said, but apologize if I need to" guy, so I'll let my posts stand, but I respect the retractions.

I also won't pretend that i wasn't trying to agitate you. My main purpose was to refute/discredit your position, but... well... I ain't above a lil' agitaitin'.

Also, I have no idea how to turn off rep, or I would have done it a while ago. It's rather silly.

But yes, I'm totally with you on the idea of having some form of resistance armor made available to players. More importantly (to me) I want costume pieces with glowy bits in general. I don't care who we have to poke (though not in the biblical sense... I have some morals) to get it done.

So peace, yes?

Hm. Perhaps Cole will 'invade' via rogue isles. He would probably fear statesman (himself) more than recluse, as he already killed his version of recluse. (Proving him a non-threat.) The two strike a deal, Recluse gives quarter to Cole's recruits. The world would thinks it's villain shenanigans as usual, only Recluse and Cole would be the wiser.

You know what would be sooo cool?

A freakin update with more to it than 4 avatar pics and a screenshot of some dude in a cave/tunnel.

(I only say this halfheartedly as my husband and self, decided while waiting for GR that we would completely remodel our master bedroom. So I am tired and cranky, and want something to get excited about...)

Wow. That's a long way to go just to slip City of Spies past Castle.

It all makes sense now. Positron creates an entire boxed set of content which looks like an upgrade to the Praetorian dimension, when all along he's just trying to trick Castle into working on City of Spies. And then on the eve of everyone discovering his master plan, he hands War Witch the keys and hides in his secret lair while he prepares to launch his next master plan: a massive update of the Shadow Shard based around aerial combat with the Rularuu that tricks BaB into working on the animations necessary for an underwater zone.

Genius.

Last time I checked, the Praetorian Raymond Keyes is Anti-Matter, who is the Praetorian Positron, who is on Emperor Cole/Tyrant's side!

Do correct me if I'm wrong.

But yeah, peace
We need to poke the tech guys. The problem (So I've heard) is the glows are baked into the armour itself. As in, you cannot (currently) colour them.
So, we could colour the armour and add patterns. But the glows would always be, say, blue.

There is plenty to do in CoX, but if you don't care about character customization....there are alot of games out there that are better than this one. If you took the character customization out of this game, I pretty sure it would have failed in it's first year. How many people would have stuck with this game for 5+ years if you had to choose from 20 premade characters?

Why do you think power customization and weapon customization were such huge success stories? Why after 5 + years is there still costume contests every single day?

It's not really an opinion. This game's biggest attribute is the character creation. This was true on release, and it's true now.

LOL i twisted huh yet i was nice enough to point out that someone might say something like this. your a idiot etc etc for that one sentence. i then went on to give you a exsample of what they would say.

(Note: This is my thoughts/opinions/idea play for me? etc while i dont know how many people would agree with me i have a feeling that no one would play a game without story?)

personal im middle ground on the who deal, i really like the look builder BUT with out story content why would you play? Im not sure i would want to play city of sims nothing wrong with sims but im here to do two things.

A) save the world/destory the world/do something no one saw coming etc
B) look good

now while the custom creator does the look good part with out some sort of story line there would not be much for me too do.

I don't mean spy/scout as in any special game mechanics

I mean spy/scout as a way to explain how you can be a supporter of Tyrant, but still go wandering around in primal Earth and teaming up with non-Praetorians.

Well.. since it seems they have RetConned Preatoria a bit for GR.. I'm still holding out hope the Stefan Richter is alive somewhere. Mostly because if the "Bio" is to be beleived, Tyrant didn't go all homicidal-jackass until the whole Korean thing.

I do like that things aren't quiet so cut and dry "black and white" on preatoria. The "Loyalists" could actually BE good people trying to help society.. ame with the "Resistance".. then agian.. there could be some crazy oppressive types.. to go along with the viscious terrorist types in the Resistance..

deffinately looking forward to getting into the beta phase to see how it all pans out..

This sidesteps the point. No one is saying the *only* thing important about the game is the costume editor. They are stating that it was and is critically important to the success of the game.

Nor is anyone saying that *everyone* likes and heavily leverages the costume editor either. But it is undeniable that enough players do so to make it a critical element to the game's overall success.

There are elements of the game that I don't like, that I think lots of other players like. If I didn't like or use the costume customization features of the game very much, I would still have to acknowledge that they were critically important to the success of the game.

I would absolutely love it if they did this with Peregrine Island, since I find the existing PI rather bland. Given the presence of Portal Corp it would make sense to be the first place to be attacked by Cole.

Purely as a defensive measure of course, since Portal Corp is the means by which all these dangerous, uncontrolled, violent Primal Earth 'heroes' like Golden Girl will be travelling across the dimensions to try and disrupt the peace and stability of Praetoria.

It also has zero security - just take a look at the car park there

But I really don't think there'll be a state of open war between the dimensions - the devs said at Hero Con that the Freedom Phalanx won't get involved in Praetoria as there's no threat to Primal Earth from their yet.
Apparently, they did go there, but their mission didn't go well, so now they're just keeping an eye on the place instead.

Jeesh Mistress o' Math... retract thy claws.

I'm pretty sure that the term spy was meant more along the lines of "special operative". Think "special forces" as opposed to being a "shock trooper". At least that's how I read it.

You know, that's something (after playing Aion) that I've hoped they might implement in CoH. Maybe not what you meant, but, it got me thinking on a tangent...

One of the few things I enjoy (in Aion), is that the enemy players can invade 2 of our zones, by travelling through a rift. Then they try to get a spy quest done, and attack our sides players along the way. I actually enjoy this and I've never been much of a pvp player.

I'd actually find it fun, if the mechanics worked of course, in CoH where some villains (*a limited number of) could invade PI for example, for their mission, and maybe smack a few heroes along the way. And vice versa for heroes sneaking about in Grandville or the like.

I don't expect this. But it's just a thought.

Sigh Arcanaville i respect you first let me clear up what i was pointing out too Jdub that some people would think he might come across as a *** that all for what he said. as for my second part im not sure how you might of missed this but shurg.

and basicly what you just said is what i said in my OG post, sigh that what i get for trying to help someone in the forms oh well im going to do something constructive with my time. since it seems that it is more important to keep the form tag going instead of people try to help other people oh well what can you do.
