Voting is officially closed

Thank you everyone for all the great nominations. Now it's time to vote for the winners. Since many people will be voting for their nominations, I would like you to make two votes for each category. Your first choice, and your second choice. Please check out as many of the arcs in each category as you are able to before voting. I will be staggering the announcement of the finalists to help alleviate having such a large number of arcs to choose from, as well as allowing myself and the judges to narrow down the categories two 5 finalists.

Special thanks to Dalghryn for the awards graphics!

Rules for Voting

  • You may vote for any number of categories in each post.
  • You may only vote once for each category.
  • Each category vote should contain a first place and second place vote, and please make it clear which arc is your first choice, and which is the runner up.
  • Each first place vote counts as 2 points, each second place vote counts as 1 point. At the end of the voting period (November 9th) the arc in each category with the most points will be the winner.
  • The winners will be contacted by global /tell and forum PM where applicable for their prize of 25 million inf transferred to their character of choice.
  • Finalists for many categories are still in the process of being judged, and they will be added to the first post of this page, along with a new post when ready.
  • There's nothing wrong with voting for your own arc, just be sure to add a second vote as well.
  • If you would prefer your vote to be private, make a post here saying that you are making a private vote, and PM me the vote.

First, let me say that I very much regret letting the time get away from me, and failing to post any nominations - I'm quite sorry about that, but I am very happy to see that most of the arcs I would have wanted to nominate got nominated by someone else anyway. Anyway, without further ado:

Best DO Range Arc (15-25)
First Place: Ctrl + Alt + Reset #137561 @Bubbawheat
Runner Up: The Invasion of the Bikini-Clad Samurai Vampiresses from Outer Space! #61013 @Aliana Blue

Best Multi-Part Arc (2+ arcs)
First Place: The Audition Part 1 #221240 and Part 2 #221241 @MRCaptainMan

I think I'll wait until everything's posted before I vote, if I vote. Hopefully I'll have time to run one or two more of the arcs between now and then. As it stands, I've only played one arc in the Best DO Range category, so I'd only be voting for it, and I'd be abstaining from voting in the Best Multi-Multi Arc category since my arcs have been nominated. I'd also be hesitant to let my vote be swayed by a play of an arc that's been significantly changed since I last played it. It wouldn't be fair.

You know, I may just abstain from voting entirely. I don't feel qualified, and I hate to vote against arcs I haven't run. I thought the voting was going to be conducted by people that had taken the time to play through the current version of each arc -- which kind of amazed me given the amount of work involved. I see that I was mistaken -- and it's quite understandable why that's the case -- but if people are going to vote, they should really be informed or it's nothing more than a popularity contest. Since I'm *not* informed enough, I'd be hypocritical if I voted.

I've done my best to make this less of a popularity contest as possible. But when I decided to run these awards, I wanted to make it as much by the players as possible. The arcs are chosen by the players, and the winners are decided by the players. I'm staggering listing the finalists so that maybe someone can play the arcs they haven't played before voting on that category. I'm requesting that people vote for two arcs so that at the very least, they played two of the arcs nominated.

If you want to abstain from voting, that's completely up to you. But my suggestion to someone who has limited time: Pick one category that interests you the most and play all of the arcs in that category, and vote in that one category. Voting is open until November 9th. And remember this: If you're a player, you're qualified to vote.

Above all, good luck to everyone that's nominated, and this is all in good fun, so at the very least go out and play some good arcs!

Bubba, please don't take my post as being critical of your efforts or of the contest. That wasn't my intent in the slightest. I was just being my long-winded self in explaining why I probably won't vote unless the baby gives me and the lovely wife more CoH time.

The best thing about judging is that the voting part is made easier because I have played each and every one of the nominee's in this category.

I was looking for arcs that have a nice story, good detailing adn most important of all: One you can play with a fresh faced hero or villain from level 1 and up, without any enhancements whatsoever. For me, these two are the best:

1. Mercytown, the one with the fish #6017 @Tangler
2. Day Job Hell: A Villain’s First Day Job, # 322480 @Clave Dark 5

A special note on 15+ Minute Tutorial - Knowledge is Power: Architect Entertainment #28470 @Paula. If there had been a category best Tutorials. This one would have had my vote!

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you all. I've recieved several rep comments, /tells, and post comments about how much people have enjoyed this contest, and I really appreciate that. Let's keep those votes coming, and the judges and I are doing our best to get the rest of the categories finalized in a timely manner.

My vote for best TO range arc (1-15):

1) The Marconeville Horror #178278 @Footloose
2) Nuclear in 90: The Fusionette Task Force #58363 @Cavatina

Actually, The Marconeville Horror is easily one of the best arcs I have played to date.

I'll be voting for the other two categories once I finish those missions.

I'd think like "Archies". It's like the Oscars but with more freckles.
