Noticing that guardian seems to be pretty active right now and that a queue system was added sometime or other. I do not remember this being ingame during the last double xp. Looks like they decided to prepare and add it in a recent patch Should make it much easier to login to freedom next weekend

If I recall correctly, that was one of the things they were testing and added in with I16.

Yeah, it was added in Issue 16 and was, if I remember correctly, the tech responsible for not allowing users not in the closed beta to view the character creation screens on Test.

Queue system? Nice.

You have got to be kidding me..
A queue system?!

The european players are pledging for a server merge for months, ending up with less people on their servers each day, and ncsoft is just nicely implementing features on the american servers to deal with the load?

This is getting so redicolous.

Yes, it extends to the forums too - you can complain again in 1 hour and 17 minutes - you are number 142 in the doom queue.

The only practical reason I see for needing a queue system is for use after server merging That, or they have delusions of grandeur that GR will bring back a 5 year old game to its full glory.

Let's hope they are not wastin precious Dev time to develop a system that is not necesary while they could work on that feature "Awesome Button" we need. I want to touch it.

Hmm. Your remarks seem to not have any basis in reality.

  • The OP post here told us how the queue was apparently needed/used on Guardian today.
  • Have you never tried to log onto Freedom or Virtue on Double XP weekends, or other special times?

If so, you would understand.
If you need further explanation, go back and look at all the chaos from threads that get posted by people on the heavy servers during those special events times.
Yes, it is needed. If for no other reason than to stop special event time whining.

.

Remember, we're Yuropeens. The concept of a "heavy load server" seems strange to us

I do understand that.

But I tend to play on low pop US servers too,
and normally laugh at the people who insist on only playing on Freedom here, and thus whine constantly during special events, even though we warned them beforehand.

But yes, this will be a good thing, and yes, I expect GR will cause a need for it on most servers. . . at least for a little while after release.

It may only be needed at special times.
But it will avoid a lot of ill-will from new players at peak times.

Or, you know, so people stop whining about being locked out of Freedom and Virtue during every double experience weekend that ever was.

Stop people form whining? Come on, this is the internet, NOTHING will stop people from whining.

Sometimes you get the bear; sometimes he get you, rips your head off, sucks out your eyes, pulls out your spleen, humps your leg and pees in your boots

Aye, they'd just end up whining that there's nothing to whine about.

I Suspect point 1 was related to the guardian only maintenance yesterday.

I never had the pleasure to log onto Freedom or Virtue on Double Xp weekends. So I will have to take your word for the necessity. Never had any overcrowding here in the EU and my trial in the US did not make me believe that such was necessary!

Of course, now I must check out one of these servers next double XP weekend.

In general, it is a "line" you(or somethings) stand in and wait till you(or the somethings) are at the head of the queue.

In this case, it is apparently a waiting line to get logged in to a server.
  • Server full
  • You and several people try to log on to that server.
  • You all get placed in to a queue, in the order you logged in.
  • When space on the server opens up, the person at the head of the queue is allowed in.
.

Once we run out of things to whine about, we'll whine about the lack of whine!

The real entertainment during a 2xp weekend is reading the forums for the whiners complaining that they can't get onto Freedom, and the bizarre logic they use when making suggestions that are supposed to "fix" the problem.

I remember one doofus that actually tried arguing that the only way to solve Freeedom's overpopulation problem would be to shut down the low pop servers.

That made me chuckle thanks GG

@Damz Find me on the global channel Union Chat. One of the best "chat channels" ingame!

In all fairness the best time to play on Union or Defiant IS double XP weekend. Simply because of the fact that a lot of people on your Global list whom you haven't seen in ages should be back for it, your SG will be fairly full and the global channels will be hopping (hopefully).

Whereas if you visit the US servers chances are you'll be an anonymous face in the crowd. Plus, if you pick Freedom chances are you'll experience the awesome that is the Freedom Car Crash PuG.

I'm looking forward to seeing some old faces show up next weekend!

The server queues are being implemented ahead of CoH/V going into a single server with a full seamless world. The war walls are coming down, people.
