Queue system added to the servers yay!
In all fairness the best time to play on Union or Defiant IS double XP weekend. Simply because of the fact that a lot of people on your Global list whom you haven't seen in ages should be back for it, your SG will be fairly full and the global channels will be hopping (hopefully).
Whereas if you visit the US servers chances are you'll be an anonymous face in the crowd. Plus, if you pick Freedom chances are you'll experience the awesome that is the Freedom Car Crash PuG. I'm looking forward to seeing some old faces show up next weekend! |

Then you shouldn't have an issue. This is for servers that are FULL and for people that want to wait in line to play on those FULL servers. It's not like they'll make you wait there for no reason like an exclusive night club.

Now it was only at times when there were as many people actually online as the server could hold, and the moment someone logged out someone else would be let in, but it still caused a number of complaints.
3) Before the population caps were put in place, folks would just continue to pile on those two servers until it was enough to cause them to crash, meaning NO ONE could play on them AT ALL. Usually followed by the folks that just got kicked off their server to log into a different one, maxing out THAT server and causing it to crash. This would continue until all servers were down and no one could play the game at all.

Double XP weekends aren't that bad. Freedom may hit a few moments of server lock.
What's coming up is a combination of Double XP AND REACTIVATION weekend. Now, *that* will cause Freedom and Virtue to lock down during peak play times... and that's where the queue comes in.

Yes, the problem isn't the Double XP weekend. It isn't even the Reactivation Weekend. It's the lunacy of letting people on for free onto servers with a higher load than normal because of double xp.
Have a free reactivation weekend that isn't double xp. End of major problem. The queue becomes a rarely needed tool.
Edit: I have played on Virtue on a double XP weekend. I do know what it's like trying to log in - and to have it completely lock up my computer. Not getting in isn't even the worst of it, it's the client getting 'confused'.

In that regard, it's not really that bad. Of course, I lived through the 2 hour WoW queues...

A queue system?! The european players are pledging for a server merge for months, ending up with less people on their servers each day, and ncsoft is just nicely implementing features on the american servers to deal with the load? This is getting so redicolous. |

Yes, I know you know this. That was for the benefit of those who perhaps don't know the 'why' behind double xp and holiday events and/or don't know why the last double xp weekend wasn't as jam-packed as they had been previously (and thus automatically assumed 'the game is dieing[sic]' because they could actually log in to Freedom at 11am on Saturday morning).
