What's YOUR strongest build?
Fire/Fire Blaster is my chaos maker. I enjoy using Rise of the Pheonix offensively. |
She'll just rush in, Infero then die and ROTP. It's a running joke when I'm on my Emp I'll chase her around and AB/HO/AP her until she gets annoyed and just dies for kicks.
Great fun, those Blasters.
Questions about the game, either side? /t @Neuronia or @Neuronium, with your queries!
168760: A Death in the Gish. 3 missions, 1-14. Easy to solo.
Infinity Villains
Champion, Pinnacle, Virtue Heroes
Blueside:
Solo: Claws/Regen
Team damage: Ar/Dev blaster(my archery/NRG comes realy close though)
Team support: Rad/Rad defender
Redside:
Solo: SS/Fire Brute
Teamed: Crab Solider (damage and support)
Those are my go to guys (all male characters which given my near 50:50 split is slightly unexpected)
Each of them(apart from the rad/rad) has been tweaked with various IOs and are very effective at what they do. The rad/rad I ought to tweak, but he is just so durn effective right now, I dont feel the need to. He does have about a dozen HO scattered in his build.
(overslotted to have 6 Enzymes in rad infection, for ED 'soft capped' debuff down to level 19)

For me, since I only play heroside, it's an Ice Armor/Fiery Melee Tanker. I love being able to solo +4/x8/+boss missions. Council and CoT are easy. Rikti are also easy but the Chief Soldiers can do some damage if two or more hit consecutively. Arachnos and Carnies are tougher requiring judicious inspiration use, but even they eventually go down.

I dunno WHAT people are thinking when they say Ice Armor can't take a hit. It can, you just have to actually DO something to defend yourself!
My fire/elec/fire blaster would probably be my strongest. She's a beast

Strongest build - lvl 50 SS/WP Brute with perma-Rage
Most fun to play - Rather fond of a Thugs/Pain MM who just hit 38 last night.
Least fun to play - A toss up between a Level 50 Mind/Psi Dom and 50 Inv/Energy Tank. Blech. Got both up to 50 at the last Double XP weekend just to get it over with.
Tales of Judgment. Also here, instead of that other place.
good luck D.B.B.
Miss Fox, my Claws/SR Scrapper. No IOs to speak of (mainly SOs and common IOs) but she defeated almost every single Praetorian Elite Boss in A Hero's Hero on the first attempt (Chimera got lucky once, as did Malaise. Several of the others barely scratched her.) She actually got quite boring to play from the late 30s on, due to most enemies presenting no real challenge, even at diff 4.
Either my plant/thorn perma dom or my kat/wp scrap, both IO'd to pretty much maximum potential. As far as AoE carnage and total lolenemies goes, my dom wins simply because he has an abundance of AoE (SoC takes alot of credit here as well). Perma mezzing AVs is also a plus, my main troller wishes he could do that.
The scrapper on the other hand is a friggin tank, and while the dom is capable of soloing some AVs, the scrap has little to no issues on most of them. He also makes short work of pylons while my dom simply doesn't have the survivability. Even with a limited amount of AoE, the scrap still plows through enemies, but the dom will usually pull ahead in massive scale carnage.
If they dueled? I'm sure the dom would win, mainly because my dom would abuse the fact that he has mez (lolretogglingRttC) and the fact that squishy characters now get spoiled with all those extra resists they don't really need. The dom is defenitely my strongest vill, and the scrapper my strongest hero.
My DM/Shield Scrapper is a monster. She's my first toon to solo AVs, and she's no slouch in regular missions either. Soul Drain > Shield Charge = lots of dead stuff. My first indication that this one would be teh awesome was on the ITF that I dinged 50 on; the entire rest of the team wiped on the ambush at the Oracle, and then I realized that nobody had led her to the altar....So I went and grabbed her and did it, while surviving 8-man Invincible Nictus boss spawns. No other character I have has ever done anything like that.
For pure carnage it would have to be Eva Destruction (AR/Fire). AoEs, AoEs and more AoEs, near-perma hasten, Build Up + Full Auto recharged every spawn. Her evil counterpart Dawn Apocalypse (AR/Dark) is no slouch either, again very high recharge, plus she can actually keep people from dying.
Eva Destruction AR/Fire/Munitions Blaster

My strongest is a MA/Regen Scrapper - it's also my weakest
@Golden Girl
City of Heroes comics and artwork
Well my strongest is Mr. Marks, SS/WP brute, he is the most rounded one and is the most fun to play with. Now my weakest is either Mr. Jenson, dm/sr brute, who is only good at soloing or Rainbow Jester, MA/Regen who is only good at pvp.
Strongest is probably my dark/sonic/dark defender, Chord of Souls. If you got a problem, yo, she'll solve it.
After that, flying inv/axe tank Princess of the Dawn. She only solves one problem ("we're dying!"), but she handles it well. I'm pretty sure the flight is part of what makes her effective, in that it's easy for me to keep tabs on what's going on because I'm a bit above the action.
Weakest: elec/elec blaster, dark/dark scrapper are both kind of janky combo characters, in that either they get their tricks off and everything dies in a heap, or they don't, and they die in a heap. Also, fire/fire blaster, which I'm not even going to try to make soloable. He's just damage. Gorgeous, unsullied-by-I16-because-original-fire-is-so-pretty damage, but there's nothing else going on there.
Edited to add: I think it's interesting that it probably depends a lot on what the player wants out of a character. My two strongest are team-savers that don't solo well, and I left off the stormies that do solo well, as well as characters that bring a lot of damage. But to me, saving a team is the best thing to do in the game. If I had an AV-soloing scrapper, I'd still list the defender and the tank first.
Angel Witch II - Chord of Souls - Storm Witch II - Princess of the Dawn - Standing Horse - Witch of Xymox
Silent Scream - Shadow Witch II - Liquid Serenade - Nebulous Dawn - Ghost Witch II -Xiberia
My goto, can handle anything - ill/rad
My can't stop playing, will never retire due to fun:
Tie between fire/storm troller and dm/fa brute.
None of my characters are currently maxed out, I've just recently developed an interest in end game builds.
That's why I love the game, there are so many different facets to focus on.
My Characters
My strongest build is a MA/Invuln Scrapper with a few Crushing Impact sets, Scirocco's Dervish in Dragon's Tail and Aegis worked into the damage resistance in a few places (especially the Mez/Psi Resistance, which got stuffed into Resist Physical Damage).
I used this guy to test my arcs, and he CRUSHES EBs. The only ones he can't completely dominate are the EBs made by players to represent their own characters (Mary/Marty Sioux) and have every power in a set to represent how "totally awesome and hawt" they are. EB Super Strength is not the same as PC Super Strength, though, so I'd like to see ANYBODY tank 1000 damage per hit before Rage.
My Stories
Look at that. A full-grown woman pulling off pigtails. Her crazy is off the charts.

Repurposed
My highest ranking in the buttkicking scale would be Actin, DM/Inv scrapper. 7 dev-made AVs at once (and over the aggro cap of custom-made AVs, for giggles) attest to that. Solo'd the ITF too, good times.
Most crazy fun has to be my Ice/Fire, no-Stamina blapper, nearly softcapped for all positional defenses (over 40%, current pending the acquisition of a PvP +def IO to get the extra oomph). She's hilarious. And does a ton of damage too.
Don't think I have any character being particularly weak that's not associated to still being low level. Dishonorary mention goes to my Ice/Cold Corr (or cold/ice or whatever the combo is, you can tell I'm not very thrilled about it) which I disliked the most. Least enjoyable character I've bothered leveling so far.

The Invasion of the Bikini-clad Samurai Vampiresses from Outer Space? - Arc ID 61013
Fun: Ice/Ice/Cold Blaster. Fast and versatile, great both solo and on teams.
Capable: Ill/Rad/Psi Controller. Able to take on anything I find in a mission without hesitation. Not quite as fast as my blasters and scrappers, but more capable of crushing the opposition.
My Fire/Fire Brute used to be my fastest character (when it comes to tearing through missions), but that character no longer has knockback protection. I think my Claws/Regen/Dark scrapper is probably my fastest on average now.
My weakest character is my Warshade.
All for different reasons....
Ice/Ice Blaster
Elec/Shield Brute
Fire/Shield Scrapper
Ice/Storm Corruptor
I'm only ladylike when compared to my sister.

Most likely my DM/SD. Fully IO'd, softcapped, solos (most) AVs and 8-man spawns with ease. The difference between pre-IO and post-IO performance is enormous.

Fire/Dark Corr.
Used to be my fire/psi dom before it was 'fixed' -rip-
Grim Fandango, Inv/DM tanker, ridiculously tough with great ST damage.
Planet Smasher, Earth/Thermal controller, does everything and does it well.
My namesake, Benchpresser. A INV/SS Tank that's been with me since I3, his original build was a mishmatch of SOs and a handful of Hami-Os and he could STILL handle anything in the game, I have no fear of wading into anything, Carnies, Hami, GW, whoever...He will walk out the other side grinning like a madman and another damage badge to show off.
I recently did a 2nd build softcapping his defense with 1 guy in range, and he elevated to Godhood, its scary.. I can go afk on +4 8-man missions now with him.

I have 30+ level 50s under my belt and my strongest build is a Fire/SS tank. I have dual builds for farming and PvP.
Villain-side: no contest, my dark/dark/soul brute. He's a monster, able to tear apart hordes of minions one minute and take on an AV the next. I like to run the Ice mistral SF and clear the final room just because I can.
Hero-side: claws/invuln scrapper. great survivability, great damage. My main hero-side farmer.
Honorable mention: plant/rad controller. My dedicated Positron soloer, but the combination of controls, damage, and debuff brings a lot to any team he joins as well.
119088 - Outcasts Overcharged. Heroic.
CoV:
My Fire/SR Brute is currently my current tough guy. My SS/Wp Brute is a close second.
But lately, my Fire/Dark Corr and Claws/Inv brute could be monsters in their own right.
CoH:
Dark/Sonic Defender (soft capped to range) is not the most damaging AT but he's pretty damn tough.
Fire/Fire Blaster is my chaos maker. I enjoy using Rise of the Pheonix offensively.
