I just wanted to let you know you can probably stop recording data, a fix for this should be making its way to the training room fairly soon. Your drop analysis there, when this patch hits the training room, would be very useful. Thanks for everyone's diligence, and believe it or not the bug had nothing to do with team size, what map you were on, whether you were in taskforce mode or not or anything else mentioned in this thread.

Amazing news! Thankyou!(:

Apologies for my slightly harsh words before, this is fantastic (: Will definatly help test when it's implemented onto the test server

(:

Global: @NR
POHSYB: We've been in this meeting for six hours. Can I go back to my box?
BLUE STEEL: No.

Great news Synapse! I really hope that it'll go live ASAP, since it's, IMO, a "non-minor bug". "Perception issue" he said

I'd also like to thank everyone who helped in here, from those who gathered data to those who analysed them, they really were those who made that this bug is now on its way out. Some here deserve a big thanks from devs!

This is great news to wake up to. Thanks for staying on top of this!

And thanks to all the data contributors!

Good looking out Synapse. Can you disclose what the bug had to do with or is that on a need to know basis?

btw a SGmate of mines had a theory... Synapse was playing Jedi mind tricks on us.

I don't mind not knowing about the bug but who in their right mind would want to exploit a bug that makes drops really really bad

He says phsyob(sp?) can explain it better than he can, so hopefully we will hear something in the next week or so. I for one am dying to hear what it was because not only does it seem to have been an old bug that came back, but also because I spent hours testing and accumulating data since I16 hit. It became like a part time job.

You can get those as jokes though too. Like "devs hate villains".

We should turn this into a forum game similar to 20 questions: "Guess the bug source."

You know, an old bug DID reappear with I16. It was so pervasive and minor that I didn't even mention it anywhere.

When a character is first logged in, sometimes both the enhancement and inspiration trays are open. It was like this for a very long time, and when I see it, I just automatically close the enhancement tab. This disappeared, although I never saw a patch note for it, and reappeared with I16. Has anyone else seen this happen on their characters?

But others weren't. If it was as simple as giving drops to "virtual" teammates, everyone would have seen 1/8. We would have shown those results in these test threads, realized we were all seeing the same thing, and quickly have declared this the problem.

And it would not be limited to just recipes. It would have included the salvage as well.

Too funny!

Oh...and thanks a lot, Synapse, for communicating the status to us before the weekend. It saved the testers lots of time and alleviated lots of general tension and frustration too. Now we have something to look forward to next week!

What if the reduction was because a certain type of recipe drops were being blocked from dropping by rarity or sets vs commons?

From what I saw, subjectively, it seemed to affect rates in bulk. I did get rares, commons and uncommons all, and my rates of all three were sucky by past standards. This was to the extent that it was noticeably less created inf per time because I wasn't getting common recipes.

I can't say it wasn't something like what you said, but I sure have a hard time imagining the pattern behind it.

I could go back and do a breakdown, and since I think we know the ratio of rare:uncommon:common we could see if it held or not. I may be too lazy now, given a declared fix.

So...any chance we can get a Prestige/Influence boost out of this since we're sort of losing out right now?

Or a free toon slot?

Or BASE LOVE in the next update?!?!?!?!?!

Code gnome plan:

Step 1: Cause drop rates to fall.
Step 2: ______________?
Step 3: Profit!

Ebil code gnomes!

I've spent some quality time with the Cimerorans on the wall, they really are nice people once you get to know them. Rilly. For quite some time, long before I16, I've had informal observations in my head and anecdotal conversations with friends along the lines of "Man, this toon just doesn't get many recipes," or "today was a bad day." Knowing a little bit about statistics and computer algorithms for generating pseudo-random numbers, it always felt far too regular to be functioning as a plain old probability. When you are like 20 std devs out, you start to scratch your head.

But hey, its a game, I never counted the bodies or dug around to find out what the expected rate was. So to hear it is an old bug doesn't surprise me, maybe I was noticing it some time ago.

In any case, it'll be great to see it squashed. I'm out of town for two weeks, hopefully it'll be in test for a bit already when I get back.

Great game, Synapse and everyone at NC that makes it go. I16 has been a very fun issue. Thanks.
