There's a "search members" button just under the page number listing. If you click on that and type in the name you're looking for, then click "go," it'll bring up all the names currently registered that have that string in it.
For example, typing in "Cende" brings up the following list:
Ascendent_Fury

Cende
Incenderrella
Scenderbey

Transcendent_One

So you can see which names with the string "Cende" in them are already taken at one glance.
