I think it's more complex than just a negative gives -1 point, and a positive gives +1 point.

I had a horrible experience with rep meters on another forum. It was a forum where I discussed politics (my first mistake, I know). Generally, things went pretty well. Those who agreed with my political opinion gave me positive rep and those who disagreed gave me negative rep. And they usually included funny comments and we all signed our names since it too was an anonymous system.

But when discussing a very divisive issue one day, someone took offense at my posts and gave me negative rep with extremely threatening comments. They were kind of scary. And I couldn't really complain to anyone about it because the moderators had gotten so sick of the rep flamewars that even mentioning the rep system or rep comments was a banable offense.

After that experience, I swore off using rep systems.

There's a cap per day? I noticed you can't give rep to the same person repeatedly without going around to others, didn't realize there was a per-day limit.

I guess I'm not nice enough to people to hit the limit?

I have so far only gotten rep in instances where I have been helpful in some way. For me, at least, it seems to be WAI.

Edit: Interesting... apparently, it's possible for someone to try to give you rep... only to end up giving you +0. I've got a post with only one rep-grant on it, and it's listed as "Even", with a grey dot, rather than green or red.

I could understand if one person gave you +5 and another gave you -5 that it would come out on that post as "Even", but the actual single-person grant that I got was +0...

Dont know how mine could be green, i'm a jerk on the forums. Mostly cause I only get on here when i'm at my studio and i'm dealing with other goofy musicians (insert ugly smiley face here with bad teeth)

Yeah, and didn't you say earlier in this thread that it was a terrible idea? And didn't you previously have it disabled when you had negative rep given to you by "jerks"? Paraphrasing here from this post, but you get the point. I know for a fact that I saw it disabled at some point.

Your being creepy. What you doing, stalking me?! Why you care what I do? If you must know, and it's none of your damned business, I have been messing with every part of the forums trying to learn this thing. I don't care if the damn thing is crimson or bright green. When I turn it off it will be off, when I turn it on it will be on.

Not being mean, thats just me slim I don't give a rats *** what people think about me or what I do on a game forum. I don't know you people from jack squat, even after 5 years of me being here. Don't care to. You don't pay me to record your music in my studio or have anything to do with my life or anything around me, so I could care less what you and others anywhere think of what I choose to do.

Hope that cleared it up for ya. I'm not mad or anything, but thats what ya get for questioning what I CHOOSE to do with what is mine.
