I thought long and hard before posting here because what's the point of just another "I'm fed up and leaving" comment.
But the fact that people take the time and effort to contribute ideas and views via the forums is what has made COX such an amazing experience for me over the last 15 months.
I have never played a game with such a sense of community and a feeling that the more advanced players are guiding us "newbies" through an adventure.
In 15 months I have been promoted to leader of possibly the busiest sg on Defiant and have made some great friends whilst learning to really enjoy passing on my limited experience to those new to the game.
So why am I thinking of leaving?
Last nights anniversary "celebration" in Atlas showed how the action of the devs can radically change the mood of the game.
Throwing a mass of GM's into one location produced the inevitable awful lag that made the game unplayable. It also showered valuable badges on anyone prepared to sit back and watch their screen grind to a halt.
It was like throwing handfuls of E number loaded sweets into a kids party - bugger the consequences because it will keep them distracted for a few hours.
The people who are likely to be most offended/dismayed at such crass and badly thought-out "content" are the more mature players - and they are the heart of the COX experience.
We work really hard in the sg to reward and encourage new players but when you get new players reaching level 50 in 5 days you start to wonder what is the point of TF's, cossie comps and sg teaming.
I can see through the forums that some of the best people in the game are leaving - and I want to say thank you to all of them for making COX what it was.
Amen Broken Heart, I've been here since day one of the EU Launch and I have to say that while all it was described as 'Fun' and not 'Big' you would have thought that to have us staying up for the announcement so late it would have been more than that.
TBH, we learned more by bugging Positron with questions on test than we learned from the Announcement.
To see so many high standing members of our community leaving us is a sad thing, I will have teamed with many of them under various guises, both mine and theirs.
All thats left to say from me is, FFM, take care mate. Hope you find yourself an MMO to call home and I hope that you can find the space for Paragon in your heart with a later issue. Again, take care.

Five whole days? It's quite possible to get a level 50 in around 5 and a bit hours now (four missions), in the MA. With each mission giving you the full 9999 ticket cap plus another thousand or so. And a level 50 earning 14 million influence a mission.

I think that something said in an other thread is rather true.
I think a lot of vets have been bored with this game, no matter how much they love it. I'm one of them.
I think a fair few vets are disgruntled at the treatment of NCSoft Europe's staff with the creation of NCSoft West (I'd say merger, but it doesn't feel like they 'merged' anything other then Avatea into the new fold).
I think a fair few vets have become disgruntled at some of the Dev decissions over the years. ('Ham fisted sollutions to exploits, limited bug fixes' I believe someone said)
I know a fair few vets are disgruntled at Positron's performance and announcement decissions. (both time and what's in it)
I think, for most of those leaving, it was just the drop that filled the bucket and they've decided to cancel after all.

CoX has kept me (relatively) happy for over four years, the longest any other MMO has managed so far is about four months so there is something special about the game...but...the problem I have, like a lot of other people who have been here a long time, is that I know every nook and cranny on the heroes side and every rock and web on the villians side. There's just nothing I haven't already done a dozen times and I really need something new.
I did say I wasn't going to bother looking into other MMO's but I decided to download a free trial for LOTRO. I won't want to be running two subs so we'll just have to see which way it goes. The one I know so well or pastures new. I'll know in a couple of weeks...
