I have met a few but this one takes the gold medal....
I was on a good team working through a looong mission but gathering lots of shards, and this Scrapper, for the 2 mission in a row, has entered the door and then stopped in his tracks. We carry on for another 20 minutes and still no movement and no replies to tells.
We complete and miracuously he leaves the mission and enters the next. The leader (at last) asks what he is doing as it looks like leeching and he answers -
"I was having router problems so I popped to PC World bought a new one and installed it"
Amazing!!
Then a week later same guy appears in another team and this time lead is from my SG so I warn him about possible leeching. True to form the guy stops after 2 mins as we gather shards for him. A team message "What you doing??" get this response -
"I am POOING"
LOL - crapping at your keyboard or a very long flex into the bathroom?
You have to admire the originality of his excuses.
"I am Pooing" has become our new SG call-sign when someone is lost/dead/slow/afk -
Exactly
No your not - you adding whole paragraphs of "hidden meaning".
I am saying that an awful lot of players have seen and used the exploit - and do not think of ourselves as "cheaters". It was fun while it lasted but good riddance when its gone.
What I would like is some kind of "protoyping AE mission" where super fast levelling was possible but that toon was locked into AE and only those missions with no rewards other than the levels - with possibly an option to "buy" a release with merits or some other game mechanic.
"Trying out an AT" is what attracted every one of my friends to this exploit and a way to do this legitamately would add to the game (my very personal opinion). -
Quote:But the devs ARE responsible if sloppy coding or system design allowed these exploits to exist - and not just the once. And the company IS responsible if those exploits once identified are not removed quickly. If you run a 24/7 365 day service then you need the resources in place at all times to deal with urgent issues.AE is a great tool, it wasn't designed so the Devs could stop making content and the Devs aren't responsible for people abusing it.
Quote:People should stop being pissed at the Devs for the fact that other people abuse the system, start getting pissed at the people who exploit the system, they are the problem.
Will we all be banned or have toons deleted this week? I hope the devs realise that the "typical" AE farmer may actually be a much larger proportion of the players than some would suggest. -
I think its more like the South American football team who's plane crashes in the Andes. They are completely cut-off from the outside world and resort to eating each other.

I have been here a lot the last 2 weeks and never been logged out once.
I am on Firefox and also log in as a Eurpoean memeber. -
Tenerife (Spanish island off the North coast of Africa) here
Since the move I have better responsiveness in WW but more lag spikes in all other parts of the game.
Not unplayable but the return of the dreaded rubber-banding
But on a brighter note the sun is shining and its warm enough to go to the beach in November if the lag gets me down -
Quote:I am an SG leader on Defiant and the population, whilst not quite at the heights of 3 years ago, seems to be full of mature, experienced and friendly players. Not had a problem getting any team for missions or TFs since GR.Yeah I started on union in the beginning but switched to defiant when I found I had some RL friends there. I established myself there, have 3 lvl 50s (2 heroes 1 villain) and had a great sg that I loved.. but then all my rl and in game friends left and the sg died. That was when I had troubles finding teams and was just so bored of the same old grind that I couldn't be bothered to reinvest myself in the game.
I think I'm ready to try again and I think an active sg would be a good place to start but I am kind of attached to Defiant because of all my characters there. So does anyone know any good active Defiant based sgs?
Also if I do 'take the plunge' and splash out on GR but find Defiant lacking I'll def look you up on Union Diggis, thank you for the offer
If you need a very busy Defiant sg (we are number 2 in all time list) contact me @Major Control
Good to have you back -
Yes globals and channels are not working atm

6 attempts so far and no luck on the EU store
Party Pack has same message -
Cannot buy EU version - message is
We're sorry, but we are unable to accept your order at this time. Please try again later or tomorrow. If you continue to have problems, you may wish to visit one of our retail partners. -
Welcome to the game
A great way to get quick answers to questions that may seem "blonde" at the time is join a good SuperGroup.
An active and freindly sg will get you throught the first couple of weeks when you are finding your feet
I run an SG on defiant in the EU and contact me (if the right server/region) with a message to @Major Control
PS After 3 years of playing I get "blonde moments" in-game about every 10 minutes -
Thanks for the info War Witch - possibly triggered by my question here - http://boards.cityofheroes.com/showt...55#post3294455
It is just a pity we did not know about this as we are battling hard for the 2nd spot in the Defiant SG rankings and lost over 700,000 prestige last weekend when we moved some new Prae toons into a seconday SG -
Quote:Wow some people are just spoiling for a fight.you must of not loved it enough if a few people can disrupt it that much ;p
I did not say it had stopped or reduced my love of the game one iota - just that the forums can at times not reflect the mood of co-operation and community that the game has at its core.
Being attacked for asking for some moderation in language and respect for others from ALL sides in the arguments seems to demonstrate the problem - "if you don't agree with what I say then I attack YOU not your argument".
Perhaps we should have an Arena/PVP area of the forums where certain members can happily beat each other senseless while the rest of us read, search for information and occasionally have a giggle. -
This forum does not feel like the game I know and love with an amazingly friendly community.
Please people can we have less fighting and more discussion about the game - without personal atacks.
Both sides of the arguments across the forum could do with stepping back and pausing for breath - its not pleasant to watch or read. -
I am one of the leaders of GGRRR and we are competing for 2nd spot in the top 100 on Defiant and therefore we are tracking the prestige earnt by the sg every day.
Last weekend the figure dropped by 700,000 despite lots of sg teaming and I sent in a support questions. This is the response and its puzzles us. How can a new Praetorian character "commit" to join an sg when they leave the zone and thus earn the bonus?
I can find nothing in any notes on GR about this.
"With the release of Going Rogue, the Development Team included a feature that would allow Praetorian characters to contribute a 100,000 Prestige bonus to the super group they would eventually join once they left Praetoria."
"Subsequently, this bonus is removed if the Praetorian character is removed from the group, either by being kicked, quitting or by deleting the character. We were able to identify that this was the cause of the drop in your current prestige."
"Because of changes in the system planned for Issue 19, this feature will no longer be pertinent and so will be changed. If you need assistance again, please let us know and we will gladly help you." -
Our team had the same issue in yesterday in a mission about rescuing 3 soldiers (BFA or BAF?) and then releasing 35 prisoners.
The loyalists and rebels were able to buff/heal those of the same "persuasion" but target, hold and damage the team members form the other faction. It made for a very strange experience and long mission.
We got there in the end but not something you would want to do too often.
Only seen this once in 57 levels in the new zones. -
Another two for the pot ...
Euro Trash
EU looking at me? -
WOW - a conversation that was informative, interesting and thought-provoking has suddenly got a little heated.
Let's please remember that this is in the Forum section "For Fun" and is about a game.
I am one of the oldest (in years) players on COX UK and have seen many phrases/labels used over my 50+ years for woman, black people, gay men etc. Thankfully some of most offensive seem to have passed into history and now seem stupid, ugly and out-dated.
I am a gay man - but I am also Welsh, British, male, a partner, blonde, blue eyed etc.... I do not put these into any kind of order as I am all these things and many more. I do not belong to any one "community" or even think that a sexual preference creates a community.
COX is a community I am happy to belong to as it seems to have have underlying shared values of friendship, maturity and respect.
Each of us will have our own, sometimes strongly-held views, but as long as you don't attack me then I am happy to live and let live.
I do not like the term straight-acting but know many gay man who use that term. Am I bothered by it? Not one little bit. They can wear a wig and call themselves Dolly Parton if they want to (and I know a few that do).
Yesterday I heard a guy on a team says his "Bird was makign tea". When I told him he had a very well trained parrot it seems to go over his head. But an ITF was not the time or place to challenge him over a term I personally do not like. Neither is this forum.
So back to the original question "are there any Gay SGs". Very few and probably with almost no members. But unlike many othere MMOs there are inumerable SGs in COX that will make you feel more than welcome.
Now where did I put that blonde wig -
The Friends of Dorothy SG still appears to be semi-active as I saw "Camp Accountant" logged in yesterday. Not sure on their numbers but always brings a smile to my face when I see one of their members (ooer Mrs).
I would not join a totally g-a-y SG but that is just a personal preference and have no issues with anyone that would wish to do so. I have been lucky to find a great SG (GGRRR) where we have a great cross section of of all types of "mature" players and where the most important issue is always friendship and respect.
I do not have exclusively g-a-y friends in RL and so enjoy the diversity of a mixed SG (race, gender, nationality etc.) and the COH community is what makes this game the best I have ever played.
However, there are times when it would be fun to have a team, conversation, meeting etc. that had either a g-a-y theme or mood. Just like the Gay pride parades around the world your sexuality is not the issue - your attitude is.
So how about a camp cossie contest in AP or a "Mr/Ms Paragon City".
Possibly a way to bring people together would be a global chat channel for those of us who would attend g-a-y themed events? Or just add me to your friends list and lets pass the word amongst ourselves. -
I thought long and hard before posting here because what's the point of just another "I'm fed up and leaving" comment.
But the fact that people take the time and effort to contribute ideas and views via the forums is what has made COX such an amazing experience for me over the last 15 months.
I have never played a game with such a sense of community and a feeling that the more advanced players are guiding us "newbies" through an adventure.
In 15 months I have been promoted to leader of possibly the busiest sg on Defiant and have made some great friends whilst learning to really enjoy passing on my limited experience to those new to the game.
So why am I thinking of leaving?
Last nights anniversary "celebration" in Atlas showed how the action of the devs can radically change the mood of the game.
Throwing a mass of GM's into one location produced the inevitable awful lag that made the game unplayable. It also showered valuable badges on anyone prepared to sit back and watch their screen grind to a halt.
It was like throwing handfuls of E number loaded sweets into a kids party - bugger the consequences because it will keep them distracted for a few hours.
The people who are likely to be most offended/dismayed at such crass and badly thought-out "content" are the more mature players - and they are the heart of the COX experience.
We work really hard in the sg to reward and encourage new players but when you get new players reaching level 50 in 5 days you start to wonder what is the point of TF's, cossie comps and sg teaming.
I can see through the forums that some of the best people in the game are leaving - and I want to say thank you to all of them for making COX what it was. -
[ QUOTE ]
What do you expect them to say? That they're working on it? They've already said that, so what more CAN they say?
[/ QUOTE ]
I expect them not to release an issue that is so obviously bug-laden in the first place.
And on a major issue such as this a daily progress update on establishing cause and working towards a remedy gives the customer some peace of mind.
Those in the sg not having the sync problem are ALL reporting much longer load times on zoning and mission loads. -
Having been a software support manager for years it is a classic delaying tactic to ask the user for lots of information that is irrelevant and takes time to gather ISP, windows versions, character names etc.
On our SG about 50% of us have problems after issue 12 and 25% of us have problems so severe we are not playing.
A quick look at the US forums shows exactly the same issue is widespread there.
I will not go into the detail of what, when and how - everyone else has doe that, but I am amazed at the lack of regular updates on this from the developers.
What should have been a great release with new features has quickly turned in to a nightmare for many of us.
The lack of communication from the developers is NOT GOOD ENOUGH -
Re a higher rep - because of several dc´s the star passed to me by mistake and guess who had not set their rep? So 4 hours later we completed on Invincible. Lots of blood sweat and tears but we got there.
