Ghosting.
Don't like or dislike it. Although if I was in the team with your example I would clear every map on purpose

The times I've been on a TF when ghosting has been done is usualy becuase it's pretty late at night for the other people on the team - like last night, we were doing Manticore, but it it must have been like 4 in the morning Euro time when we finished, and that was including ghosting several missions.

Personally I like to kill everything, but I know ghosting happens.
I'd guess there's a direct inverse correlation between the quality of the Trial/TF and ghosting

Only TF ghosted so far was the last mish of the Cavern TF. And that damned things on a timer, with no map. I didnt complain.
Never ghosted any others. Missions, occasionally, if they got too hard/annoying.
Dont really mind it. Its like farming. So long as its not a thing really forced on me, I dont mind it =]

Powers like stealth, invisible, grant invis and recall friend are there for a reason.
The TFs can be extremely long without them. Imagine a bunch of TO'd people on Positron set to Invincible.
I am usually prepared for a defeat everything if I am not on a character that can ninja things. I expect those who've created the ghosting characters to pipe up and say something about ghosting.
Ghosting saves a lot of pain around the mentally challenged.
A fight thru on the cavern trial is alot easier when you've established which caves are full and which are empty, then you fight down the ones that are full only, which prevents the team wasting time going down the empty ones. Its also a good idea for speed purposes that people know their cave before fighting for after the caves are cleared. Having to tell people which cave was theirs several times over and having to teach people how to click on a stone in detail has been something I have had to do though. Some people are unbelievably slow. Wasting time allows for spawns to respawn. If everyone could just shh, do as they're advised and ask questions after it'll take half as long.

I think it very much depends on my mood and that of the team whether I ghost or not. If i just want to get it done and move on to something else then i will ghost it. If i'm not particularly fussed and just want a relaxed run through then i'll clear everything.
Mostly it's on teams i enjoy and that can carry a conversation that i won't ghost and move on. At least things are kept fresh and entertaining while your socialising rather than mindlessly clicking away to clear a mob with nothing else to do.
The above is only my opinion, please don't hate me for it

Ghosting boring content is to attain an objective is perfectly understantable. The solution is to make content interesting, varied and FUN, not to prevent people from ghosting.

There is only so many variants. People somehow will watch the next episode of Eastenders not realizing that the plots in some shape or form have been done before. I overkill on the arcs, it should be 1-2 arcs per 5 lvls but I can hit 5-6 meaning I see the same stuff a lot more than necessary.

If someone hasn't done a TF/SF before it would be nice for them to see the whole thing, rather than the "Reader's Digest" version.
If the team has done the same TF/SF multiple times or they are a little short on time but want to give it a go anyway, then we can see that ghosting is a tool to fix those problems (and there must be a demand for it otherwise we wouldn't be talking about it )
I like to do as much of a TF/SF as I can fit into the time available, so I'm happy to clear if I have time and happy to ghost if I (or anyone else) is short of time.
I also quite like the idea of a superhero who can sneak into a villain's base and sneak out unnoticed after retrieving the evidence he needs (Nightcrawler/Invisible Girl style, maybe?)
That kind of feels like using your initiative rather than following the set path (every good Dungeon Master will know all about this technique, employed by players all over the world to ruin his previous 6 nights worth of plotting and mapping their downfall )
Basically, there's no right or wrong answer for everyone; if you feel you'd rather complete each mission then that's the right answer for you
Ghosting, like PL and to a degree but less so, farming (but lets not go there, cos farming discussions have been done to death ) for me comes under the "Why play the game if all you're going to do is find ways of not playing it" category.
One additional point too is that:

.. is the direct opposite of my experience. The mentally challenged who think they can ghost, and can't actually cause more pain, and make things take longer than if the mission was completed "normally".

Sometimes Ghost, sometimes don't all depends on the team makeup.
Most STF runs will ghost through the majority of the Villain Respec trial map and teleport the rest of the team into the Thorn Tree room, it saves a lot of time but also misses out the rather funny NPC villain respec trial run that you encounter on your way there (though essentially defeating people who are obviously in need of a respec thank to poor power choices does seem a little unheroic).
The Positron TF, ghost as much as you can get away with in my opinion, the content is blander than a plate of food that tastes of nothing with a side order of bland anyway...

A real showstopper!
I don't Ghost and I can get very annoyed at those when I do TFs who start yelling "Ghost" as soon as we've started (was especially funny in a mission which clearly said "Defeat All")
I'm playing a superhero or supervillain - I want to stop my enemies from being able to regroup or take information away or I want to pound them into dust to ensure that they know exactly who did this to them or some such.
I don't play for Merits, inf, drops or suchlike - they're just a handy dandy bonus which should be the result of the fun, not the fun thing itself.
That's my personal opinion on the matter anyway and probably explains why I don't TF very often (and if I do, I make sure that there's at least someone I know in the team who feels the same way).

I dont mind ghosting in long or repetitive TFs (Synapse for example). I got time to do maybe 1 or 2 TFs a week which might be quite a lot, I dont know, but I've done all the TFs heroside so I'm not all that interested in doing the cloned missions most of them have.
Synapse as mentioned earlier is (IMO) one of the most self-repeating TFs. Basically every map is a warehouse with Clockwork, it's like grinding the same mission over and over and feels much like farming even though it isnt.
Someone already pointed it out that ghosting is not always the result of greed, but may also be caused by dull TF design.

^^^ This. Ghosting a mission is just a strategy to deal with the mission. It is as valid as other strategies. I made my main ghostable now and can help out in the next tf she will enter.
I like ghosting. It makes perfect sense from in-character perespective ( "Yes, we're on a mission to save the city (bring it to its knees), time is of essence, blah, blah, but let's just take the slower, more dangerous route, you know... for the training's sake." Have you EVER seen reasoning like that anywhere but in games? I think not.) so it can't be really compared to farming or PLing, it's their opposite if anything.
And there is fun in it (for me at least) both as a ghoster and a regular team member. I really don't know why, but thought of sneaking past those oh-so intimindating spawns makes me giggle every time.
Not to mention the whole powersets and ATs made specially for ghosting.
I very goal orientated. If someone gives me a mission to defeat a villain, that's what I set out to do, by the most direct means possible. That may mean stealth, or it may mean flattening anything that gets in my way, depending on the abilities of the character I am playing.
Whichever, I do not believe in scouring evey cm2 of the villains lair to eliminate every last minion.
I really should do something about this signature.

It can. I did. "Why play if you're going to do all you can not to".
I'm very much someone who enjoys the journey more than the destination, because I see that as the whole point really. Remove that, and you remove the point (for me at least).
Saying that, I do tend to prefer playing tanks, scrappers and brutes and have the mind set "why go around when you can go THROUGH", so perhaps my perception of what's a fun way to complete a mission is different from the ghost advocates.

Pretty much what Praf said.
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,

I prefer to smash my way through the straightest, most direct path to the goal in question, usually. Leaving mobs that we may miss/not notice along the way, and so on, but still actually fighting. That's just me though.
I don't mind ghosting, normally. My Warshade can, and has, ghosted missions for teams. Sure, it's more fun to unleash AoE death to the mobs between point A and point B, but it's just saving some time for one mission, right?
Well, not always. There will be the occasional team that wants to ghost five out of six of the missions in the Cap au Diable Strike Force (the first is a defeat all). Yes, that includes the "take Tech to computer" one, sometimes, somehow. At that point I tend to question why I even bothered joining in the first place; merits are fun and all, but I could've done a higher level SF with more powers and less ghosting for more merits, and had more fun with it.
Like I said, I have nothing against ghosting as a way of speeding through content; but I've never actually -enjoyed- rushing like that, either. Would be nice if people mentioned in the invite that the SF run is going to be an uber speed run past the first Legacy Chain defeat-all.
Oh I tend to defeat mobs that dont turn up often like the chain

Ghosting.
By now all of you should know what this means.
In most Task and Strike Forces and most Trials this is common place. But I would like to know if everyone thinks about it.
For me it spoils the who reason I do a TF/SF or trial. I know a lot doing to for speed, which is fine. I know a lot of people do it because they have done that mission many times before and its no longer any fun.
I did a number of TFs and SFs the past week. I joined an ITF team looking to do the TF normally. No ghosting to the top and avoiding the ambush. Not ignoring of the ambushes after the cysts. No jumping strait to the computer after the last general. And we still managed a time of 1.18. And that was with mapservers throughout. I was doing The Temple of the Waters SF and a Brute kept complaining about being bored because he only had 4 attacks. So intern kept asking for every mission to be ghosted where possible. Which annoyed some team members.
I would like to go back to the days when teams would clear every map on a TF/SF. For the experience, inf, prestige and the drops. I would love to clear the 3rd and 4th maps of a ITF. Leave no roman standing.
So what is does everyone think about Ghosting?
PS. Sorry if its a little all over the place.
