Think it suits me more than a number

OT: In the US there seems to be some concern over the lack of rewards but to me having the drops turned into "skeeball tickets" is rewards in itself. Think theyr looking at this MA as more endgame content, however having another way of earning merits (i presume you trade tickets for merits, so for example 10 tickets = 1 merit?) i can see the very rare recipes being extremely expensive merits wise

I for myself will be playing purely for the stories and content, reward is just a bonus to me. Now my heroes can FINALLY rob atlas bank!

Edit: Also hostile hostages? This mean after rescuing them we then have to defeat them too? Poor poor fusionette xD

Wow, while I wasn't bemoaning its existence I wasn't hugely excited about the MA but looking lots more interesting all the time

Poor Fusionette! I’ve been wanting to have a word with her for a while now and she never listens when I try to talk to her. She needs putting back in to hero school before she gets herself in to more trouble.

I am awaiting this with baited breath, this just makes the wait look worth while.

Though I have to add, that I'd much prefer customizable maps over and above customizable mobs.

I know for a fact that the maps I have already got in mind for my own stories in general work within what already exists however some of my missions really need custom layouts to the maps. Tilesets are much less important IMO.

I can see why this would be good for kidnap misisons - but I don't see why someone would resist being rescued

In a limited sense.. You won't be able to place the mobs.. Just choose the mob type and create critters. It'll be no more farm worthy than a radio/newspaper mission I guess. Well, less so actually, as you won't get badges or mission reward...

Being able to choose the map and mobs will do, im not interested in badges or completion bonus.

Sounds good! I like that they have made it more co-op and that you can do both good/bad missions with heroes or villains.

IMO I think they have found a good balance of giving people exp as normal for mobs and some sort of merit/ticket system but no end mission exp. Although I guess it depends on what you can get for your tickets .

Sounds like they're just being cautious with the rewards.

No mission completion xp is fine, if you consider that if the system works well (and doesn't appear to be abused) then the devs could add mission completion xp (whether full or a portion of usual xp). Getting rewards that we hadn't got before would make most people happier - 'yay - they've buffed MA'.

On the other hand if they allowed MA full (or a goodly amount of) xp mission bonus at launch and then found it was somehow being abused they wouldn't be able to reduce/remove the reward without lots of weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth amid the cries of 'Doooom - they've nerfed MA'.

Similar story with the other rewards/behaviours.


Sure that previously released info stated that dev's choice would be awarded full rewards - can't spot mention of this in the linked post. Wonder if that's still on.

no, not having allied mobs take away exp is daft...

otherwise there'd be missions where you first free Statesman, sister psyche, Backalley brawler, from their captors and then just drag them through any mobs thats left on the map while you just lean back and rest.

But having a healbot with you isn't going to give you extra XP, is it? Sure, it'll make the missions a tad easier... But then, that's the sort of thing the rating system is for.. Mission too easy? Thumbs down. Mission obviously set up for farming? Report it.

I wasn't aware that farming was questionable content. I suspect that things to report will be more along the line of racial, sexist and morally questionable. Farming seems to be, now that Mr Emert has left, a valid game play mechanic.

Maps:
Maps appear to be stored on the server as plain text files that are a list of all the assets and their placement within a larger whole. Each map is made up of pre-made sections that fit together like a jigsaw. If anyone remembers CoV beta you will no doubt recall one or two maps that were borked and the sections ended up joined together at the wrong height or with the wrong rotation, either leaving you with sections you couldn't access or with holes that let you fall out of the map.

With that in mind I can see to an extent why map editing is not in from the start but IMO at any rate it is at least as important as character generation. If you write the perfect script for a mission it could well be let down by the same old generic cave map that everyone gets. Yes I understand that we have access to 1000s of existing maps but unless we want to write the same homogeneous missions that already exist in game or use the same 'unique' maps that everyone will have to use to try and have something different the uniqueness that we aspire to will not be there.

Spawns:
While I can see that spawn placement is not going to happen, I hope there will be some system that will allow us to place unique mobs/NPCs/Items think of how easy a mission to kill/rescue/click would be if the notable thing was in the first room we came to. ALso if you want for story reasons two or more mob types within a single map, say council and devouring earth, I hope we will be able to put them into positions that actually have them fight (or appear to).
