Oh and btw the new content is being added to Cimerora, not Croatoa

And if it's only a small percentage then the servers won't empty.

As I said, understand your arguments before putting them forward.

Since it is already possible to have a perma-jetpack as a temporary power (at least on villains), you aren't forced to buy one if you want the advantage of not taking a travel power.

As for the Cyborg power, there is no indication that it will confer any advantage, chances are it is cosmetic, like a costume-power for a giant robot, or a Prestige Power Sprint for wheeled movement.

On the mission creator, there may only be a small percentage creating missions, but it will generate a massive amount of new content for everyone (at least some of which will be better than what the professionals write, based NWN experience). It will also attract new players into the game, since NWN proved there are whole bunch of people who prefer to create missions for other people than to actually play.

As for people who only like to farm, thier is no point in the devs adding content for them, since they just do the same thing over and over again anyway.

I really should do something about this signature.

Only "perma" on Villains if you do the right missions, and keep redoing them via Ouboros as they run out. Very temporary on Heroes.

No one's forced to buy it at all, but at the very least it will save in-game effort, and at most it will effectively let you take one or two extra power picks and still have a usable travel power.

"If people enjoy the content they're given we lose! "

No. We win. if only a relatively few people use it then, as mentioned, the servers are pretty much unaffected in terms of activety.

BUT, it only takes a relatively few imaginative players to create compelling missions, which benefits everyone.

We win. On that point at least, we win.

Don't get into a flap. It's only my opinion and I'm thick

Arc 56763 Lord Anarchys heaven

2 mission arc. Bring friends cause Lord Anarchy means business...

They might as well be perma though - I took no travel power on my Crab Spider (though I did have CJ & 2-slotted Hurdle), but I did make heavy use of travel temps - by the time I reached 50 I'd used up all of my Zero-G pack, but I still had my Raptor Pack, Goldbricker Pack and Sky Raider pack (original, not flashback) with about 3-4 hours left of combined flight time between them.

-sigh-
I'm starting to think that only myself and a handful of others actually enjoyed this announcement. Some are saying they don't like the features, which is honestly a shame, and some are going as far as "ISSUE 13 SUX!!1", which is just foolish, as they don't even know everything that's in it yet.
Ahh well, I'm sure it'll all be fine in the end. Issue 12 was the same. >_>

Posted

I'm also wondering if some aren't jumping the gun with disappointments. After all not all facts are known about Issue 13, don't forget the "more" part in the announcement.

On the whole I'm mildly happy. The mission designer's very nice if you're into that sort of thing, but I'm really not, the Day Job system is nice but hardly overwhelming, and new TF reward scheme probably the best of the lot from my perspective.

New content/power sets - all good, but not a complete surprise for a new Issue so I'm not turning cartwheels because it's in there.

The Booster Packs - as you've probably gathered, they count as negatives for me.

Although, as has been said many times, that's not a complete list so I'm reserving judgement on the complete package until all the details are out.

Exactly. Things are so dull when everyone goes "w00t, I love you devs"

I'll probably (hopefully) enjoy the Mission Designer, depending on how good it is. Most other things I can take or leave. There's nothing that excites me in the announcement really though, which is a crying shame given how much they talked it up. I really thought they'd come up with something special.

and this is why you have my respect.
Not that my respect has ever counted for anything, but I don't like negative presumptions, as it just seems unnecessary. I mean, at the very worst, issue 13 will be terrible, and we can all go back to playing the very same game we love.

But my argument is the issue is not that impressive. If the mission designer is popular which i imagine lots of people will have a bash to see what they can make and so wont team, which if you ask me is a negative.

And if it isnt so as not to affect teaming then the mish designer is a waste of time or not that popular - again a negative.

Does that help you understand my point

way I see it, I like playing the game as it is now with a few minor niggles....

an issue that adds more stuff ? even if its stuff I wont intend using ?

Three thumbs aloft from me

I'm actually kinda dissappointed by the announcement itself, not so much as the actual features. From practicly everything in it we already knew (well hoped/expected) it was coming in this issue or the next. The only 'new' thing is the 'day jobs' system wich is, to me, the least exciting of the whole list.
With all the fuss and anticipation Positron created for this announcement I was expecting something more ... spectacular to be anounced.
Doesn't change the fact that I13 is still going to be awesome though

If the "More" was that good why didn't they mention what it was? Guessing its going to be something small, hence why its added as an endnote!

No, it just makes me think you're desperately looking for anything to complain about in regards to the issue.

Unless your very existence is threatened by the thought of someone else enjoying the mission editor, I really don't think the problem is as dramatic as you make it out to be. As absurd and crazy as this sounds, all those missions are going to be actually...played by teams.

forgot to add in a point...

any addition to the game FOR FREE!!! is great. I mean, I pay subs for the game as it is, now I pay the same sub for more.

optional booster packs: I didnt bother with the wedding pack but I like the option to buy the cyborg one, depends on whats in it.

for me: I13 features:

Mission creator: dependign onthe flexibility and UI, excellent news. I loved the NWN scenario builder and whether or not I put missions up for others to play I'm sure I'll have many hours of fun making them up, but it wont be cutting into my game time

Crimerora missions: fair enough. always good to get something else to do

Shields: never really wanted these but now that they are coming I have an idea or two for a character

Pain Domination: I was happy enough with my MM as he was, but I can see the benefit of this.

QoL: cant wait to see what these are. hopefully will remove my niggling issues and then the game will be perfect.

bug fixes: same as above though I'm not hit by that many bugs tbh (except the map synch one which seems to have sorted itself out).

anyway, my €.02

This.

I think what we've been given is just the taster for the main event. With all of the pre announcement jitters on what's coming, I can't believe there has been that much dev excitement (notably quotes from War Witch and our own GR) over what we've been told so far.

There is something else on the way. I believe there will not be a foot in the house left with a sock on it.

Because this isn't a fully-blown announcement, like this.
This is merely a letter to us, the players, telling us about some things Positron wanted to unveil.

That's a very good point. Having fiddled about in various other things designing levels, small scenarios etc you rarely want to play the buggers much yourself, you're too close. The pleasure comes in watching others play them (and scream in frustration)

Yes, but you can say the same thing about Playdough or, for that matter, supergroup bases, inventions or the costume editor.

That's primarily the reason I'm interested in it.

It's been an age and a half since I was last able to act as a Dungeon Master or the like in pen and paper roleplay, so this kind of approximation will help satiate my urge for it.
