ingame ads hit the EU
Cool. Just the right sort of ad.
I really should do something about this signature.
I think they'd rather we look at it in game than on here though.

Do not go gentle into that good night.

Couldn't post it until they were confirmed to be working (and, of course, I'd arrived at the office to see said confirmation).
Just seen this myself in game
If anything, I want more adverts now as I find it too game breaking!
Make sense of that one
Nah, what I mean is that it's the only advert so far, and it appears to be bloody everywhere, I'm seeing the ad about 4 different times in one zone running through. With more varied ads it will be less jarring I reckon.
We built this city on Rock and Roll!

And shovelled out the massive mound of poo we create over the weekend while you're not here!
Chairman of the Charity of Pain; accepting donations of blood and guts.
Prophet of the Creamy Truth; "If it's empty, fill it with cream."
So an ad for a religious movie is the first to go live here?
(anyone spot whats wrong here?)
Think about where the game was made, and where it's set.
Oh goodie. Vin Diesels head all over the place.
That's the flaw with the ad system, if there aren't many ads to rotate we're going to see his big bald head everywhere.
Where's the Batman and Hellboy ads, eh?
Or even things like Heroes (starting on Sci-fi, although already shown on BBC) and the like. Ring up SciFi, Channel 4 (Reaper), Virgin 1 (home of Star Trek, Terminator etc) or whoever and get some quid pro quo ads going (we advertise them ingame, they have a "City of Heroes" mini-ad thingy when they go or come from the ad breaks on the shows).
I was on earlier and saw a bloke pasting one of the billboards, two outcasts tried to nick his ladder but luckily I was around to save the day, else there might have only been a half completed advert in Steel Canyon.

OOOOO .... "Heroes season 3 is sponsored by City of Heroes." .... Love it
Now ... a Sylar AV arc .... mmmmm
Fahie
Y'know? I actually LIKE this. Ok, so we need more adverts as I've now been brainwashed into seeing a Vin Diesel film, but I digress...
@Wolfybane
-Defiant Server-
H: Wolfsbane(50 MA/ReGen), Orthoclase(50 Stone/Axe), Dreamhunter (50 Ill/Storm)
Daybreak(50 Fire/Kin) Tygrrforce (50 Hooman PB), Tygrrstryke(50 NRG/NRG), EbonWolf(50 WS)
V: Spektor(50 Spiddy)
don't mind the concept of the ads, and yes, this is the sort of thing I'd rather see than, say, washing up powder or whatever, but I really wish the adverts were more tailored to the gameworld.
Maybe for movies we can get the posters up outside the cinemas too?
If we get adverts for other products (like the new Gilette Nuclear-powered 42-bladed shaver)can we get COH characters advertising them please? C'mon, someone's got to give Statesman an endorsement contract!
@craggy see me on Union for TFs, SFs (please!) or just some good ol fashioned teaming.
No one goes to the cinema in Paragon City. Why would they? The films haven't changed in 4 or 5 years!

Posts are OOC unless noted to be IC, or in an IC thread.
So much for keeping it true to in-game art style. That's the only photo realistic billboard i've ever seen.

actually, whether it was a joke or not, synapse has been said to be reserved for the advertisement
/brianblessedvoice "Vin Diesel's Alive!"
....and still making movies
advert for a mobile phone preloaded with tony hawks latest phone software offering by T-Mobile aswell.
Looks ok if you ask me.

Yeah it stars Vin Diesel!
It'll take more than advertising it in CoH to get me to go see anything 'starring' him.

There are still true heroes in Paragon then
*feels sudden compulsion to rush to cinema*
Just popped online to have a look and I've seen Ads in Atlas, Steel Canyon and P.I on a (no pun intended) flying visit.
To be honest a little underwhelmed so far, I hope we NCsoft get the opportunity to showcase more variety of ads for a more realistic metropolitan feel, I say realistic because I feel they need a frame round them when stuck on a flat wall.
[ QUOTE ]
[Edit]: I agree, The high res does jar slightly with the ageing enviromental graphics/in-game art style as Blind Minotaur notes.
[/ QUOTE ]
Also the Atlas train station has Vin Diesel on 2 sides of its foundations and a 3rd not 100 yards away - seems a little gratuitious when commercial centres like Steel Canyon mainstreet are bare.
Steel is under-used as a Metropolis and needs more hordings and billboards up along its mainstreet. The one in central P.I is nicely placed though.
Of course advertisers are going to want their Ad to be in a prime placement re: the traffic of toons through the zones but I imagine if players see the same ad everywhere it could start to grate a little, thank goodness they are optional.
NCsoft really need to hold a competition Stateside and Eu.side to get player-created artwork submissions in there for billboards, signs and banners to give a little variety.

Good one but not quite right.
Yeah, cover Steel Canyon in ads - make Blyde Square into Times Square.
I know WW was placed by the university to make crafting easier, but I'd have liked to see it in Blyde Square, to help make it into more of a hub.
@Golden Girl
City of Heroes comics and artwork
Probably slow on the uptake or missed an announcement but here we have proof of the ingame ads finally hitting the EU.
Out soon apparently
For me personally it showed up in Steel Canyon by the University
