  1. Well I believe I'm too low for Eden too, though not far from 39 but tbh I don't think I'd be in the mood, plus turning it into a race doesn't appeal because unless the team is made up identical then it's never going to be balanced. I don't have any invention origins in my build and at level 39 things like damage or health etc will be lower than a level 40 upwards.

I enjoyed the Katie Hannon TF , well until I found out it was a race and results were posted as public record to make it more humiliating. Felt like it was a PvP group I'd joined at that time. Anyway that's just my opinion and of course when it isn't about racing and just being a member of a pretty awesome unstoppable group of powersets and players, it's a great and fun evening. I don't regret joining it.
  2. To me I don't feel that they are excessive, just as it seems to be the only one ,or certainly the only one I have seen, I think you tend to get tired of seeing the same one. Probably wouldn't be as bad if there were a couple more but as I'm mainly playing the game I suppose it doesn't matter so much. Not certain at this point whether the plan is to have several adverts on display simultaneously - not read up on all the info yet - I shall have to see if there's any thorough details on what's been mentioned about them.
  3. I was on earlier and saw a bloke pasting one of the billboards, two outcasts tried to nick his ladder but luckily I was around to save the day, else there might have only been a half completed advert in Steel Canyon.

    Personal Space

I was thinking about starting a thread a couple of weeks ago with regard to whether people acted totally opposite in game to their real life personas, or whether partly or mostly behaved like themselves.

I feel that in some cases it would be better if they were acting totally opposite , but I can't see it myself, even if they don't act that way it seems that the behaviour is in their character somewhere and may one day come to the surface. Do people who always seem to be swearing or use you or cheat you (bridge and fill etc. which of course you can refuse to do if you are aware). Do they use people or cheat people in real life and every other word expletives? Do they push into queues or shut doors in your faces and act rude in those ways too ?

Do they say 'Welcome to McDonalds and the city, you can contact me on my nickname @Gladys Golightly I'm on Till number 2' *wink*

I think personal space should apply to this game. It's not physically bothering you in person but if someone keeps superspeeding around you and you move and they follow and do it again, it can be a bit unsettling. Of course this all depends on the individual on how this behaviour makes you feel but for me
if someone follows you around and does that it is basically giving you grief. If I'm playing my kinetics characters I tend to put a speed boost on them and see them zip off out the way from the unexpected extra speed increase usually gives me a (very) little victory.

Going back to your post, I for one wouldn't act in the way you have explained neither in game or real life so perhaps it works the other way and those that do act rude etc. are the same in real life. If that's the case I lose faith in the human race, though it may come down to a society and not the entire human race. *shrug*

If anyone ever finds the answer I for one would be interested to know it.

    X4: Evolution

I've managed to get my hand on the rules before anyone else

#1 - The first rule of X4 is, you do not talk about X4.

#2 - The second rule of X4 is, you DO NOT talk about X4.

#3 - If someone says stop, goes limp, taps out, the fight is over.

    #4 - Two guys to a fight.

    #5 - One fight at a time.

#6 - No shirts, no shoes.

#7 - Fights will go on as long as they have to.

#8 - If this is your first night at X4, you have to fight.

Sorry I just couldn't resist it
  6. It's a shame that nothing can be done about this. It seems to come down to the fact that because you trusted someone with responsibility that it was your fault. To be trusting is not your fault but perhaps were a little naive and that isn't a crime. Most people on this game are pleasant and trustworthy, morally sound and so on, but unfortunately not everyone perhaps even here on the forums.

This person turned out to be untrustworthy and it seems like you are being punished. In turn if you are to leave the game then the good and trusting and morally sound members of the game have a casualty and in a way aren't we being punished by losing someone like that ?

I think if it were me I would accept the judgement of support and stand back and say, 'I've learned from this, now I will have to be more cautious of people'.

You need to only give people proven to be worthy of responsibility. Someone who has put a lot more into the SG/VG and over a longer period of time. If they are not happy about waiting and proving themselves then, it should be non negotiable and if they want to leave then fair enough. Hopefully not to another SG/VG with people who trust too easily. I am a member of 2 supergroups. One is where I am a leader and this is because the people that started it are good friends and in some cases the best of friends who I have met in real life on a couple of occasions. The other is also one where I know a leader pretty well but I have few responsibilities, I can invite but very little else and to be honest I'm just happy as it is.

When it comes to storage racks, Not allowing people to remove from it should not be a problem with friends as those that lead and have responsibility will get the things you would like from the rack and give it to you if it's something you need.

Yes you have been wronged but I think support can only really work within the rules that they are given. They may wish they could do more for you but perhaps their hands are tied.

I hope you will change your mind about leaving. This game can't afford to lose good people.
  7. Although the rules of conduct have a connection to the original post I would be inclined to start another thread as people may still want to discuss their views on what happened with regards to the OP. Then again, this is probably what happens with all threads.
  8. If this is the one I'm thinking of that starts outside with the sky raiders then I did it about 3 weeks ago and she came up the lift ok and when working around to the entrance into the building she started on one of the sky raiders near the entrance and knocked him over the side then went after him and never came back. If it's a different mission then she obviously just has a berserker mentality generally.

    my apoligies to?

Maybe the reason why all the villains are so naughty is because they haven't got you to put them straight.

Golden Girl we villains need you !

(sounds like a war recruitment poster but ah well )
  10. I suppose the prices are affected in some way by farming, but the buyer perhaps wins on this occasion but maybe in a couple of months it'll be back to how it was for those salvage types. Supply and demand.

If some new recipes come out that are useful and popular that require those items of salvage, maybe they will reverse and become expensive to buy and of financial benefit to the seller. Perhaps we'll see on the next update

    Oh wow, cool!

Yes there are some really good maps, maybe a little scarce that when we actually do them we appreciate it more. Would be great to have a few more or some with random graffiti on. Funny if you went into a old office and there's a 'Bridger Woz Ere' spray painted on the wall or 'Lord Recluse Loves Miss Liberty Forever'. Not true but might be funny , though the rate people tear through maps these days they probably wouldn't notice.

    X4: Evolution

This is a PvP event yes but it's not an everyday one and is organised for some fun with rewards that will mean nothing to anyone outside PvP. I shall not lose any sleep due to being without it. I won't be going around saying Wow thats an X4 champion oh my gosh.

As it's meant to be for fun I'm not entirely certain why it has to be level 50 and be an issue. I see a team effort where 5 members have to work together and should be able to overcome anything that's thrown at them with tactics and strategy and that's where the skill comes into it. Plus it probably gives more people a chance of winning even the less knowledgeable players and thus why it's so open. Perhaps it's fear that at level 40 you couldn't handle it as well and be more likely to lose ? Some of the bigger PvP Groups could have a large player base and thus may even have several pentads taking part. That would probably bring pride to the supergroup members even if it wasn't their pentad but fellow SG/VG mates pentad that wins.

I think that you should try the level 40 first hand, this could potentially have more players in a single PvP gathering on the European circuit and may even increase the population too for the future. Plus if it's successful it may even become more regular. When was S4 ? Isn't it years ago ? Perhaps it may become a half year or quaterly event or an annual one which is better than it has been I would think. If it isn't enjoyed by the majority then for a future event they work out a better situation with levels and making it an equal footing.

As I've said before I probably wouldn't take part anyway, I will always picture the bad side of PvP and I would never put myself intentionally in the situation of facing any of that. Perhaps in that case I don't have a right to give an opinion, and what I've said could be me talking out my proverbial butt anyway. It's just how I see it. I would just like everyone to enjoy the event. I may not be a PvPer but I might take a look at the event just to see it first hand and might even become some SGs number one fan.

    Out the wazoo?

Think it's a new online store similar to Amazon, sounds like a river in Africa to me. FFM is maybe a preferential customer
  14. It's a bit expensive for what it is, but I see nothing wrong with it being in the store and some may buy it. It's not like it's saying buy me, buy me. Whenever I see a break glass to set off a fire alarm I feel an urge to do it, but I never do.

I won't use the option as I have respecs from veterans and trials and as long as respec recipes are available I could probably get one. I earned about 7 million inf in under an hour exemplared with a 50 on one occasion. The 5.99 respec is approx 2/3rds of a monthly subscription so about 20 days and if I had 2 hours a day exemplared with a 50 doing the same amount of missions I could probably get more than a handful at extortionate prices.

I hope they add more stuff to the store, but maybe something more collectable for our characters. I don't think adding the respec option was too hard or expensive to set up so they haven't lost anything by adding it, we haven't either. Those that can afford to, and do pay for one, probably need it more than I ever will and will be thankful that it's there I guess.

Also i was in a debate yesterday with someone claiming that IO's and Purple sets shouldnt be allowed.

The simple fact is the game has evolved and the invention system is part of the game.Locking purple sets or IO's out is like locking pvpers out of this event or its the same as not allowing inspirations in matches.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I assume that although S4 is more attractive to hardcore PvPers than anyone else, that it will still be open to casual PvPers and maybe even novices. To that end I feel that it will be hard to give everyone an advantage of a level playing field if rares or uniques are used. Hardcore players probably/possibly maxed out their builds by raising their influence income in the usual methods (no need to mention which in the hopes of preventing another off topic debate that has no relevance here ).

Unfortunately not everyone uses these methods. I had 80 million with my influence earner before the salvage invention system came into affect and mainly just to get the influence badge as there wasn't much to spend influence on back then. Even now I'm still sub 300 million and probably due to playing alts a lot and not spending as much time on the one character as I used to, but even with all that influence I couldn't easily if ever get the same amount of uniques and rares in my build as maybe the least well off hardcore PvPer.

I think if someone like me had solely standard Invention origins and was playing someone with uniques and rares, it would feel like Gary Linnekar versus Dwayne Chambers (Mr Clean v Mr Performance Enhanced), to the effect that if I were to lose I could say that I only lost because I hadn't got any uniques or rares. Not true of course as I would lose even if it was the other way round probably hehe.

I think I'd like it to be the basic IOs only allowed, if this was to take part on the test server everyone could do a respec and maybe there would be a supply of free or very inexpensive IOs for everyone and judges could check each characters info to make sure there weren't any bonuses listed.

I suppose as long as everyone playing were happy with purple sets etc. being used then it's of course fine but I feel it makes it, certainly the heavyweight category, open just to hardcore pvp and perhaps defeats some of the object of making the whole S4 open to anybody. Maybe a way around it is to have an open event outside the standard competition events where there's no limits on enhancement types, but this should perhaps be classed as a exhibition event and not a competitive one.

As I don't know a great deal about this event as I wasn't involved in the last one, and perhaps won't be this time (I'm not a competitive person), I may be overlooking something and seeing it all wrong but this is how I feel at this point in time.

    Any thoughts ?
  16. Well I wouldn't be deleting the character and I enjoy playing it, just the only way for me to play this evening is being sidekicked but as a tanker my defense will suck and wouldn't be much use, and probably faceplant more times than a blaster.
  17. I've lagged behind a bit unfortunately, with nieces performing in amateur dramatics and things so only level 21 now. Shall maybe have to call it a day and just play this character as one of my standard non thematic alts. It's been fun but when there's separate teams and different real life responsibilities cropping up for people it's hard to keep at the same level.

    Bridger?

    [ QUOTE ]
Just don't tell him about Aero

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah he transformed into a bubbly chocolate bar, new powerset I think
  19. Quite creative and humorous. Maybe should have submitted it in the creative forum.

As to fill requests, it's good that you check people search comments, even better if the others did too. Some people may want/need to put other things in their search comments so they may not be able to have room for that and anti-powerleveling and anti-bridging comments too. Perhaps fill requesters should just send to those with search comments that say 'I like to fill'. Then again if someone would bung me the influence I would have earned if I was actually in the team then I and others might be more likely to accept. Influence first though please.

Perhaps they could create a global channel like 'Union/Defiant Fillers'. Then they could fill to their hearts content be it with cement, peanut butter, donuts or beer. That way we can point them in the direction of the channel moderator for an invite or if it's open they can just add the channel. If they are the only one in the channel or there are not the magic number of members in the channel when they are playing then tough. Go and work on smaller spawns but just leave us alone.
  20. Yes I feel it is a shame that we will be getting the power that we didn't want earlier in the veteran choices, but sometimes even the veterans rewards that are totally new , aren't necessarily wanted by everyone.Personally I don't think I'll be using the boxing gloves outfit from the 39 month veteran.

If I chose a MA scrapper then martial arts gloves aren't anything like boxing gloves, and if it's for a more social reason and we had a heroes/villains fancy dress competition then I'd more likely go as Elvis than Muhammed Ali or Mike Tyson so I think sometimes we just have to roll with the punches (pardon the awful pun) and hope that 3 months later there will be something better. Maybe they are concentrating on something really awesome that for the next 3 or 4 veterans we'll be getting fairly basic ones.

However I suppose anything is better than nothing.

    Smite Icon ?

    Thanks
Yeah that is what I thought it looked like, but it was different. I only briefly used it this morning so not sure if it's intermittent or if it always looks like shadow punch now. Didn't play the character last night but there was a patch so maybe that did something, shall investigate further later.
  22. Blademan

    Smite Icon ?

I put this question here , mainly because I'm not certain it's a bug as nobody has mentioned it, and I've tried to see if there's a post on it but couldn't find anything.

Has the Dark Melee power Smite had a icon change ?

I don't have shadow punch but the smite icon looks more like that now and I did see some patch notes regarding stalkers and brutes to do with a change to the smite icon but asssume it must be to alter it to this.

Anyone know whether it has changed or not and if it's how it should now look? I suppose I could be totally imagining it but it's making me scratch my head as to whether it's just me and I have early onset of dementia or something.
  23. For me debt is not enough. Maybe when I started playing it was bothersome, but even then wasn't a great issue and this was of the higher debt, lower xp times. Trying to get your first 50 it was maybe a thorn in your side a bit, and people often got angry with other players if they felt it was their fault that they got it, but once you get to 50 it's no longer a burden and nowadays it is a bit laughable to me. At 50 your attention may go towards getting badges more and debt badges are one of them, so you just go out and kamikaze till you get it.

So no, debt isn't a punishment. What I would like to see, slightly different to games like WoW and the repair costs for equipment usage and damage, is that when we get defeated and sent to the hospital or use awakens, then our powers are degraded slightly each time we lose so we don't damage as much or heal others as well, or perhaps we lose a random power each time. To gain full powers we need to pay money to a scientist instead of the hospital and this is for a serum to bring us back to normal. If we can't afford the serum immediately we can play weakened or maybe the degradation is removed after a couple of hours playing (the more defeats the longer the recovery) or a week offline (now that's a slap in the face).

I think we need to have a penalty that hurts a bit more, No I'm not a masochist but something that will make us aware that getting beaten is more than a slight niggle. It's still not game stopping but I personally would not want to be in the position too often, whether it costs me influence I don't really want to spend, or I'm not taking down a bad guy as quick or efficiently. Not sure if this idea is one others might think is ok or not. If so it could be worth putting into suggestions if it's feasible.
  24. I pay the subscription, I play the game how I like is a standard and I suppose to some extent it's true. This is more relevant when your soloing really because what some may not realise is that it's a massive multiplayer game, so it actually has real players from all over. Some don't seem to realise or care about this.

A team of 8 playing the game how they want to play may be good fun and nobody gets hurt, and they may enjoy it when the tanker is chasing the foes repelled by the grav controller.Empathy defender healing the powerlevelling blaster and nobody else, or kinetic defender speed boosting the scrapper and ignoring the stone tanker, yeah they are playing the game how they want in a group that enjoys that. They pay the subs, it's their right and that's fine.

The factor that should come into it, is that it's not a multiplayer game like ones with 4 controllers plugged into the console and sitting around with your mates having beers and having a major laugh at each other misfortunes. It's people from all over the continent and world, with different emotional levels and feelings that can be hurt or maybe no feelings at all. This I think brings limits to the 'play how you want' philosophy.

People play the game for themselves but it shouldn't be that way with this type of game. The only my mates matter credo isn't fair either. Like some that have their mates game client login and log their own and their mates characters in, and invite strangers unaware of this to farm , what they don't know doesn't hurt them, but basically they are being cheated from rewards. These are people who probably think that every character other than a mate is an npc. Others remember this and are there for fun enjoyment and social interaction and are more generous with it. Never intentionally cheating people of their fun and knowing that there is flesh and blood controlling that weird looking green, pink and yellow coloured hero/villain.

If it's farming and filling and talking spam - spiced ham/clogging channel (take your pick), or being foul mouthed, then I say create a global channel, invites only to the foul mouthed one and if you want it join it. That keeps it away from anyone who doesn't like it or agree with it and doesn't want their game experience ruined by it. And if there aren't enough people online and you need your filling experience then don't pester people unless they are in your filler channel or they state they accept fill requests in their search comment.

This is of course just how I feel and my mood may vary but to me the 'I pay the subs and will play the game how I want as long as it doesn't hurt the feelings of another player' philosophy is better for this type of game.

Then again Tainted Greeks jello idea is pretty tempting.
