I'd make the line between hero and villain be decided using a BioWare-esque morality scale based on what you do. With certain contacts requiring you to be of a certain morality. Of course this would require a complete game overhaul and would make the game rather different... it'd still be cool as hell though.

Two things:

1) I'd like all hero-side story arcs rewritten so that they were as engaging/interesting as the ones on villain-side and mostly used mission doors in the same zone as the contact. To do this I think they should start by cutting down how many contacts there are blueside - hard to write mission text with colour/style when it has to be delivered by 4-6 contacts in the same level range/origin - and also if two players have identical missions/arcs it's annoying they can't auto-complete off each other's missions just because they were given by a different contact.

2) I'd like to see all Hazard Zones on CoH-side turned into either co-op zones, or into competitive PvE zones i.e. heroes and villains both doing PvE, but competing against each other to complete first (with the end of mission bonus going to the victors), with the number of mission victories each side earns in a certain period affecting the zone in some way (opening up contacts/rewards for the side that is winning).

I don't really care about farming or PvP - if other players enjoy that then more power to 'em! I would rather the Devs focused on adding more PvE content though - more powersets, more contacts/missions, more zones, etc.

I'd like that too - there'd be some contacts who'd refuse to work with you depending on your reputation.
You'd start off as "mildly good" as a Hero, and then either progress up to "fully good", or sink down to "neutral", depending on your actions - and the same for Villains, start at "mildly evil, and then either rise to "neutral, or sink to "completely evil" - being "neutral" rep for either side would show how you were right on the edge of being a Hero or a Villain.
Maybe once you'd been at "neutral" for a while the going rogue option could be offered?

Oh, yes. Turn all of them...

Boomtown
Crey's Folly
Dark Astoria
Perez Park
Striga Isle
The Hollows
The Hollows Tunnels (yes, it's a Hazard Zone)
All 4 Shadow Shard zones

...into co-op or competitive zones! Seriously, there's a few problems with this:

1) How are the devs going to make stories for ALL these zones. Not forgetting that they own have their own lore which fits in with the game.

2) You can overdo these kind of zones (co-op/competitive). If they were going to be all co-op zones then that would be 11 co-op zones. We have 3 already. 11 + 3 = 14. 14. Wouldn't that be overdoing it? Even if they were a mix I would still disagree, I believe competitive is alright but I don't want to see much more time on co-op zones atm. Full competitive zones? 11, still overdoing it.

3) Continuing on from my last point, eventually, we'll feel like we've be treated like we're the same side. Effectively, we may as well be one game. That would be horrible.

Sorry, I just don't agree with this. Rant back or keep sayin' what you wanna change.

CoV needs an area like CoH sewers.

CoV needs more GM's and GM's should give a greater reward not so much xp and inf but maybe a nice temp power for killing them all. Anyone fancy a baby squid or your very own pumpkin head

Grandville - the worst zone in the history of MMO's, not a developers finest moment. Nor was Villian Epics. It makes me shudder just to think about the reasoning behind them.

Next on my list would be the new Roman zone, I mean what is it doing in the context of this game ? Inspired by FM's 300, it still has no place.

I do somtimes wonder abot the random direction that this game is taking - look at what we could have had - Space Stations, Underwater Lairs, Research Centers and what did we get............ the fricken' Canary Islands - Priceless

I could go on about this subject for pages and pages. Restraint is called for here.
But on these points:

[ QUOTE ]
The leveling curve - it's ridiculously easy to get to Level 50 these days, so badly, that you outlevel content. What's the point in having content if you just outlevel it?

[/ QUOTE ]

Agreed. I dont know why they did this. I know there were bumps but still I don't see how they gain if we hit 50 to quickly.

[ QUOTE ]
Debt - put it back to the way it used to be. And I mean the old, OLD debt where if you died, it took ages to get rid of.

[/ QUOTE ]

Players are so used to debt as it is. I don't think that would go down well.

But still, there ought to be risk to dying, especially in a team.
What if you couldn't reenter the team for, say, 3 minutes after you were killed. That would put a much higher onus on everyone trying to stay alive cause a few deaths then would really make it hard for the rest of the team. A kind of shared respomnsibility? Wouldnt work solo but in teams it might add a certain awareness of risk.

[ QUOTE ]
Giant Monsters - the old XP they used to give. No one does them these days, I hardly see any use for them other than to make people think "I remember when people used to flock to fight <insert GM here>".

[/ QUOTE ]

The whole concept of GMs should be revisited. They should be much more of an event. They should have more damage. there should be a purpose to them being there (damage to city?) And a real risk of defeat if you take them together with a genuine achievment IF you beat them. Right now its like chopping down trees.

So what's the point of betting if you don't actually increase the money you bet?

[/ QUOTE ]
You're usually betting against other players and can increase your INF by winning the INF that the others bet. But the amount of money in the game doesn't increase as your winnings are offset equally by someone elses losses.

The only time you don't see a movement (gain/loss) in your INF is if you are playing both sides - which you'd really only try to do if you were trying to play the system (i.e. exploit some loophole).

This is what you were trying to do with your examples of match fixing, but the system described by TG doesn't provide the loophole that you thought it would. i.e. your problem with this is that you wrongly think it can be exploited (for effectively free INF) when ythe system is designed so that it cannot be.

When they did it I thought that the only reason to do it would be if they were developing a lot of very highlevel content (i.e. really designed for 50s) or doing something new with unlockables (like the VEATs).

The devs had said before that only a small percentage of players had a 50 (nearly 2 years ago it was something like 10% +/-5% iirc). If that was still the case then highlevel content may be seen by many as inefficient to develop, as only 10% of people would see it. It becomes more efficient if the xp curve and debt are altered so that there are more 50s, and developing more lvl 50 content also starts to answer the question "where's the end game?" that can be seen by some as a negative point for CoX.

Personally can understand them doing this, but I never thought it took tooooo long to get to 50 whereas now the levels race by. Outlevelling content is far too easy now and debt is pretty much blink and it's gone (though I still found PuGs at the weekend with people who moaned about 'dept' like it was a portent of armagedon).

Yes - for the xp and the badges, other than that it is a dead zone, it adds nothing to the overall value of the game.

[/ QUOTE ]Do you really not realise how much CoH draws from Greek/Roman mythology? The zone fits the context of the game just fine.

That’s a good point, but we are talking about the mythology here. It may have a bearing but it has no place in a modern setting. It should have remained a myth.

[/ QUOTE ]But they weren't myths. Pandora's box, the existence of gods and titans, nictus coming to the planet during ancient times, all that jazz, they were accepted historical facts in the game's setting. And since we already started with the time travel theme, why not show them?

According to Samuraikos video, and she got her info directly from devs, didn't Statesman and Lord Recluse open pandoras box to get their powers?
Or did i understand it wrongly.
It seems to fit well in with the game for me, lots of events date back to that time period. It's nice to go there and visit.

IIRC the devs have plans to put lots more content in Cimorea, but at the time I12 content was being finalised they knew they'd only have the zone itself, the TF and those trivial repeating missions ready.

So rather than keep the entire thing under wraps until I13 or beyond, they decided to release what they could. Which does seem reasonable, given that I12 was only trailed as being a small Issue.

you would make no money that way... only the money from the loosing betters would come to you, so the total net gain would be 0 under TG's set up, if no one bet on the loss there woudl be no money to win... there is no bookie offering odds.

[/ QUOTE ]

Ok, they split half betting on me, half on my opponent

[/ QUOTE ]

net gain, if everyone was betting the same amount... zero

The point is there are no odds, no extra inf is coming from anywhere; the only inf involved is the inf the players are putting in themselves.

I bet 1 inf on each of two combatants no matter who wins I come out with 2 inf. The same 2 inf that I spent on the bets.

Does that help make it any clearer?

[/ QUOTE ]

So what's the point of betting if you don't actually increase the money you bet?

[/ QUOTE ]
If you have a large enough pool of players betting and perhaps with TG's other suggested changes to PvP you might well have, then if the pot was say 100 million inf on one fight you could possibly make quite a bit of Inf from Gambling.

Also, whatever system that would theoretically support betting on the outcome of a PvP fight would not get rid of the fact that some people would fix or swing fights to swindle large amounts of Influence in return for a back-handed secret payment.

What? - If it happens in RL it sure is going to happen in an MMO if the system allows it!.

As long CoH is age restricted to age 12. NO form of betting should be allowed imho. It's a game, but a lot of kids play as well.

Personally I love the look of Cimerora, and timetravel to ancient past has been over and over in most superhero comics. I think more content is planned for Cimerora so I will be looking forward to it myself.

I have played PvP (and I'll admit i am terrible at it), but it's only 1% of my game time. So I had rather got more PvE content than PvP content.

Rewriting stroy arc is a good idea, maybe put some zones togtehr. I do like the idea of keeping contacts and missions in one zone. I do remember on my old computer it took ages to load, and I have no doubt many still have slow computers

New powersets or even AT's would be nice. I would like some sort of shapeshifting AT, if possible. Then gaian I like shapeshifters! ;-)

Moon base zone, space station zones, underwater zones would all be nice. Since we're having timetravel, maybe going to other era's would nice! ( I wouldn't mind myself) But I don't think many applaud this. Maybe a few possible future missions?
