A search function that actually finds things.
forums that work.
I only want one thing from the new boards. Everything else is fluff.
When I click on a thread topic... I want to be taken to the first post in that thread. Not tossed somewhere seemingly random and forced to scroll up to find the OP.
That's it. Too much to ask?
Oh and a pony.

Um, you can do that here. You see those little page numbers that appear below a thread topic? Yeah, if you click the little 1, guess what happens? You get the first page of the thread.
Why software companies have to make software to do the most common sense things for people just boggles my mind. Use a little logic.
The only thing that really lacks on this board system is the Search function, as stated above.

On the current BB, it doesn't take you to a random post in the thread, it takes you to the first unread post in the thread since you last accessed that thread.

You're not being tossed somewhere random. You're being tossed to the first new reply in the thread. If there's more than one page and you want to go to the first post, simply click the "1" on the list of pages.

Although sometimes if you haven't looked at a thread, it will still mark early posts as "read" and plop you somewhere down the page the first time you click on it.

If it marks the thread as read before you read it and doesn't drop you at the top of the page when you click on the thread, then someone's added a post since you last refreshed the post list. I assure you, though, it's not random.

Although it can still be annoying.
The new boards censor any post containing the letters AE. This has the secondary benefit of also reducing the number of posts in Latin.

[/ QUOTE ] Fixed. After a certain period of time after accessing the forum, it seems to mark everything as read, and only shows you new posts after that point in time. Clicking on a thread you never looked at before would bring you to the first new post since you were logged in, not necessarily the first new one since you looked at it.
I slightly agree with Chocolate_Bacon on this one. If I stop reading the forum and do a TF instead... after a certain period of time, it acts as if I had already read everything, and only shows me which posts are new within the last hour or so (since my last activity on the boards). Then I end up just looking at my last reply and clicking my way up, just guessing which ones I have not looked at yet.
I'd like it to "save my spot" so I don't have to rush to read everything before I go to work. Otherwise, I miss posts or entire threads sometimes.

I personally would like a system where someone can rate a person and not a thread. Sure, people might get Karma bombed, but it'd be very entertaining to watch.

We had that before. It was taken away from us because people are idiots and say terrible things. The less we get to act like 12 year olds throwing a hissy fit, the better.
