Players can now fine-tune their difficulty levels by telling the game exactly how they want to be treated. They can choose to be regarded as a specific size team (even if they are soloing), and even have control over the level they are detected to be when it comes to the dynamic spawn system. So if you ever wanted to see if your Scrapper could take on a map that is populated for an 8 person team, four levels higher than your own, now you can!

Well, at least it will get people out of the AE... I doubt the expanded difficulty settings will work in there.

No, now people wont have to spam for fillers or HAVE to make an 8 man team. Hopefully, the amount of spamming will subside.

This doesn't make sense. If anything it will clean up b-cast.

As I've said before those farming probably wouldn't be playing with you anyway if they weren't farming.

Yeah. This is actually a good thing. No more random "Can you fill for a minute?" tells. I'll actually be able to take my level 50 characters out of search hide.

I'm not trying to make waves here but, how does spamming for fillers bother you?. That aside I do enjoy the farming this will bring, easier badge collecting (if thats your thing) and even easier solo levels(if that is also indeed your thing). I just hope it somehow does'nt get nerfed to oblivion. And I know what your thinking, "How could they possibly nerf something like this", been my question since I5.

It's not just broadcast spam, it's private tells. And, usually, if I get a /tell request, I will fill or pad if I can. I don't overly mind doing it, but it does mean I sit and wait for them to load the entire map. Soon I won't get the requests.

Dual-boxers and other two-person farming teams will now have no need of fillers. So that's a good thing.

Lowbies who hope to get on a Farm team will be less successful because they are not needed to increase spawn size. That's also probably a good thing.

AE farming will become teams where everyone is needed to actually defeat the enemies (as intended?) and duo Farms where the damage dealer is limited by the damage he can withstand.

The auto-SK feature is still an awesome leveling tool, so between that and tickets, AE will not be abandoned by farmers completely. But I do think that purple drops in regular content will move MANY farmers away from AE.

I'm not sure of the Devs' rationale for this as it SEEMS to discourage teaming, which is contrary to anything they've ever done before.

Exactly.

The only somewhat good argument against farming, imho, is the spamming.
No spamming, no reasonable issues.

Hopefully. But that depends on how they implement this. They could very well be planning on putting in some type of limit on drops.

I was thinking the same thing. Making the drop rate adjust by some ratio based on real vs 'fake' teammates.

If you're only interested in rewards, it never made sense to team anyway. You get much more XP, inf and drops solo.

I'm not a big advocate of farming, but this is going to be a good feature.

One of the biggest negative side effects of farming is that it unintentionally (or intentionally) PLs inexperienced players. This feature will, I think, cause a reduction of this by allowing people to solo farm if they choose.

[/ QUOTE ]Well, to be honest, one big change under Posi's tenure from States is the approach to teaming.

Yeah, a lot of this game is about forcing you to team. Most of that came from Statesman, who had an approach to "encourage" teaming by creating those gosh darn SUPER FUN "3 team members must click these bombs at the same time" missions.

Statesman's approach to encouraging a gameplay behavior was always basically murdering Timmy's parents and then threatening to do the same to little Timmy unless he joined a team and started playing the "Right way" immediately.

One side effect is while lowering the spam looking for anchors and padders, people who CAN'T run the 8 person difficulty spawned missions by themselves for whatever reason (low levels, weak powersets, just not good at playing) will start whining on broadcast for someone to help them with their farm mission.

Well, it is risk vs reward correct? Upping the spawn size adds a substantial risk in my books. More risk = more reward.

Hopefully they see it the way I do
