City of Farming is a GO!

Suggestion:
Remove Auto SK from AE. This might also cut down on things.
[/ QUOTE ]I'd go the opposite way and add auto-SK to normal missions. One of the big headaches putting together teams for things outside of AE is making sure everyone is close enough in level that they all get XP and inf. If everybody was SKed to maybe 3 levels below the person who set up the mission, that would do a lot to make regular missions attractive compared to AE.
Farming aside, one of the nice things about AE is that everyone can participate no matter what level they are.

3 levels below?!
This might work in an AE farm, but not in a real mission where, y'know, the enemies hit back. Just imagine a level 10 trying to do Frostfire when everyone else on the team is level 7...

alt is a known troll. He's pretty much best ignored.
He's honestly the main one behind the anti-farm, veteran "elite" and I swear he does it just to rile people.
[/ QUOTE ]
I don't think the anti-farming group has a response to this. It's something that farmers have been asking for for a very long time, and this is the only response the anti-farmers have to offer.

[/ QUOTE ]Running with pick up groups usually winds up in a bigger spread than that already in my experience. You end up with 4 or 5 players within 3 levels of each other and then the rest of the team lackeyed to them.
You act as though people didn't run real missions with a three level spread in the team before.

Nicely played - good sir, nicely played indeed.
City of Heroes didn't fail, City of Heroes was killed. If a 747 dropped on your house, you'd say you were killed, not you failed to find a safer dwelling.

My suggestion for auto-SK is to allow it to put the auto-SK'd player -1 or -2, but give a lower XP rate (i.e. they get a lower share of the team's XP), such that they can contribute to the team, but have a penalty for not being someone's actual sidekick. Of course, actually SK'ing them gets rid of the penalty. Whether or not auto-SK is trashed or proliferated to regular content...I really don't care. It's just that the current design pretty much makes it the perfect mass PL'ing tool.

A sidekicked or lackeyed character is -1 to the other character, not -3. The only reason you could possibly have to want most of the team to be -3 to the mission is for PL'ing.
I hope auto-SK is never proliferated to regular content. If anything I'd sooner see it gone from AE, because that's a major factor in making AE the farm factory it currently is.
[ QUOTE ]
Players can now fine-tune their difficulty levels by telling the game exactly how they want to be treated. They can choose to be regarded as a specific size team (even if they are soloing), and even have control over the level they are detected to be when it comes to the dynamic spawn system. So if you ever wanted to see if your Scrapper could take on a map that is populated for an 8 person team, four levels higher than your own, now you can!

[/ QUOTE ]Actually I was thinking -3 or so to give an advantage to regular sidekicks or lackeys.
I haven't played blue side past level 20, but on the red side you don't turn people away from teams because they are 3 levels below whatever the mission is set for. You'll never complete a story arc if you do that. You would be lucky to get a balanced team without going to an earlier zone to recruit a few lackeys.
Once my villains hit the mid 40s they pretty much stopped seeing teams bigger than 2. I could lackey one person to work with me, but finding 4 people (so we could then lackey another 4) was pretty much straight out. Occasionally I would malefactor down and help people in the more populous level ranges, but then I'd still need to go back to soloing in order to level or finish my stories. My regular way of completing AV missions was to take them early, then gain a level or two before doing the mission.
The great thing about AE is that it makes it easy to put teams together because of the auto-SK. It's not like there were ever 8 people my level all looking for teams before.
I don't understand what the obsession with farming is. Yeah, I would prefer not to do another "kill stuff" mission ever again, but the alternative was spending all my time soloing, and I like that even less. Auto-SK takes care of the biggest obstacle to teaming, because if you have 8 people from the same faction online at once and looking for a team, that's all you need.

On another good note, I can see purples going down in price thanks to this change.
[/ QUOTE ]
Hopefully. But that depends on how they implement this. They could very well be planning on putting in some type of limit on drops.
[/ QUOTE ]
Do you have anything to suggest that is actually the case ?
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ]
Well, at least it will get people out of the AE... I doubt the expanded difficulty settings will work in there.
[/ QUOTE ]
Even better - I hope if a character goes into an AE mission as an eight-man team it locks that character for a week, strips them of goods, and makes them level 1.
Setting yourself up as a "larger teams" is so obviously an abuse of AE that there would be no debate or not if they player was trying to abuse it or not.
Like it.

No, but the old saying "if it sounds too good to be true" seems fitting.
[ QUOTE ]
Now farmers can farm in silence... this is a good thing.
[/ QUOTE ]
How will this be any different than finding full teams with max difficulty to do farming? Now people can do it solo, but ... So what? It actually means less loot over all if they do it with fewer players... Unless of course they team up with more then it'd be just like a normal farm.. They'd still only get to do spawns set for up to 8 man teams and then play them.
I don't know why everyone is acting like this is a golden ticket for farmers. All it really does is eliminate the need to pad which they were doing anyway so they still get to do what they want without annoying the rest of us.

I didnt read most of the thread, so if this has been covered I apologize.
My buddy started play this week, and we got him to 50 and are now powerleveling his crab, but since mitos are gone I was wondering if lt's or bosses are faster, and what level I should set it to 52 or 54? Any responses would be great, I'm not good at math.
The folks complaining about this feature sound like babies with bibs.
I can't see any drawbacks to this feature.
if anything there'll be less reason for farmers to invite lowbies and can just go about their business without bothering anyone else.
As an aside, I can't believe any takes Alt seriously anymore.

This doesn't make sense. If anything it will clean up b-cast.
As I've said before those farming probably wouldn't be playing with you anyway if they weren't farming.

I think there is confusion between those that want bcast only for lft or hot catgirl ERP and those that want to stop playing with themselves..or by themselves whatever. The latter group will hate this. They still wont be able to stand on the corner and get picked up(by a team). The former will love it, the farmers didnt like having to search for fillers any more than you liked having them search.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages
This'll be good for people who actually want to do anything OUTSIDE the holodeck. Maybe you can only find a few other people who want to play the outside world game anymore (self fulfilling prophecy, that: people said MA killed the game and quit playing, thus weeding out people who don't go to MA!) instead of a braindead mito farm...at least we could pop ourselves a tougher map and have more of a blast. Naturally you're going to have idiots who want to 8-man spawn on Invincible with a small team that might not be able to handle it. Just...avoid those...but maybe not, people obsessed with watching the XP bar fly probably wouldn't leave the AE building.
And the few people who were still out there in PI and GV can just set their BM and TV maps to 8-man and till soil without having to bug people "fill plz?" until it coughs up a purple after a few hours.

I HATED ASKING PEOPLE TO FILL.
I didn't want to bother you, I want you to have as much fun ingame as I am having.
The way you play is GREAT for you, and it makes me happy you enjoy it.
The way I like to play should NEVER impede on your fun-ness. But, I like to play on maps set to 6 with just my hubby.
----- Sometimes/alot of the time we team with friends also, but thats not what I am talking about atm-----
I want to have as much fun as possible, and I hope you all feel the same.
This new option will make it so I never have to bother you. I would appreciate the same in return.
Time to go and make a new farmer and see what mish would look good with more people.
