The Ultimate Slap in the Face
Because you got worked over by an AV?
Um, no.
Because of the ET change, which made it hard to justify playing my EM/EA over my SS/EA.
I just thought that death was ironic enough to post.
At least someone still gets to play EM and have fun- too bad its an NPC.
It's amazing how such a simple change to a single power takes a set from being fun to being "meh". I've shelved my EM/EA indefinitely.
I think the OP is annoyed that Citadels ET does not have the same animation as the new EM set's..... a bit like Valkyrie and the Paragon Protectors get the old MoG.
Just a symptom of whats good for the goose not been good for the gander....
Devs...get with it, equalise the playing field

Turning TF into a mag 3 stun instead of mag 4 didn't help either.

Yup.. EM was all about getting Energy Transfer for me. Having that one fast devastating attack made it all worth while. My EM is also perm shelved.

I have a handful of perma-shelved EMs. There should be a support group or something.

Totally should be. Or we should have been listened to when the changes were in beta. I'm one of the few people that really likes the ET animation, it's unique to melee toons. However, I'd have preferred it replaced TF and that ET would have remained with the same animation, just with the damage toned down a bit.
That or give Whirling Hands a buff, but I don't honestly see it helping the set a whole lot.
Gotta love it when a set gets over-nerfed.

I don't even take both Total Focus and ET on my Brutes anymore, simply because I can't STAND how long it takes to animate just TWO attacks...it's especially aggrivating on teams...I have kills stolen right out from under me almost all the time thanks to those two powers...it's really bad.
These days, I just skip TF entirely and simply stick with Barrage, EP, BS, and ET. I get decent damage out of the chain, AND I don't have to deal with two long animating attacks...

I think its funny that one power will make people stop playing a set... and that, apparently, not being the best = teh suck.

Considering ET, TF and BS were all it had going for it, it makes sense that a lot of people shelved their EMs.
So sad... playing a newer WM/SD Brute today and one shotting freaks with the new Clobber as they try to rez really reminded me of my also perma-shelved EM/Ela Brute.
ET had such a mystique about it back in the day.
Now the only mystery is, "who is going to kill me or steal-kill my target while I animate this crap?"
my first toon was EM/EA and yea Et was better but i adapted. that extra second that you're waiting for the power to activate can be used to quickly convert an insp or find your next target.

Solo EM is still pretty decent. On teams you end up either saving you major attacks for bosses or spend alot of your time up in the air or looking at your hands while eveyrone else kills the mobs in front of you.
You do know there are bosses when you play on a team, right?
I shelved my EM characters as well due to the changes. It went from a fast punchy set to a slow clunky set overnight, even considering only that one change.
But that's my opinion. There are plenty of others who like Dragonball Z just fine.

lol kill stealing lol wow
I know ET won't ever be what it once was, but it was the power that really made the set for me-barrage, energy punch, and bonesmasher are all fairly standard, and total focus was just like KO Blow / Seismic Smash. Being able to tap ET and completely smush a foe in a second was the feeling that kept me going with those pom poms.
What I want is to see Stun (and Cobra Strike for MA's sake) get the Clobber treatment, since 'control' powers have been buffed lately-Clobber, then Dom power push and telekinetic thrust.

I'd rather see stun be an AoE with, at least, the same radius of whirling hands. There are plenty of single-target attacks in energy melee.
Besides, when knockout blow and clobber had their damage changed from negligable to extreme/superior/whatevertheycallit, the sets didn't already have an attack that did total-focus-damage, and energy melee has one that exceeds that.

That was not the only change. IIRC the change to the animation time on EP went in at the same time and that further slowed down the set. The mag on TF was reduced as well.
So for the first time in a long time I hopped on my EM/EA. I noticed I had been running GW's arcs, so I just set the mission and teleported there.
I was on relentless, but I tried it for the hell of it. It was the Dr. Crow mission, so I ended up running into Citadel.
I was excited, because although I'd never finished the build, it's /EA, so energy was soft capped.
I hadn't prepared at all, but the fight went pretty well, until I got him down to about half health.
I wound up ET, and while it was animating, Citadel pulled out ET and killed me. Apparently he has the old animation. Damn. Made me remember why I never finished his build.
