I delved about seven pages back and didn't see anything so I figured I'd make a new thread.
The title of the thread really says it all. Has anyone played a Titan Weapon/Dark Armor toon? Is it fun, is it viable, is END usage manageable on it while still being survivable?
Thanks. -
Quote:The all lethal damage and average to low DPS of Broadsword might slow you down a little bit pre -Res procs. The lack of a real AoE also puts you behind Stalker primaries like: KM, Elec, Staff, and, to a lesser extent, StJ.I'm combining my days of paper D&D and made a BS/WP stalker. I normally play a scrapper, or brute.
Anyways, I'm wondering how the combo on a stalker is level 50+.
Any advice or comments would be appreciated.
thanks!
You will burst damage like a god, however, and WP combined with Parry will make you incredibly hard to kill.
It should be a fun, solid combo if you're looking to make a thematic character and min/maxing isn't the number one priority. -
How horrible on the blue bar do you think TW/Inv would end up being? I don't suppose anyone out there is running one?
-
It'll come out on a Tuesday, if it does. Maybe next week or the week after? I think the person that said they're going to try to bleed some of our points on the LIMITED TIME ONLY HALLOWEEN CONTENT! before they put out Titan Weapons.
It only makes sense. -
So this is mostly a concept build and I was hoping to get feedback on a couple things:
1. From the first 25 levels I know that StJ is a total end-hog - do I have enough recovery built in to sustain the character solo/on teams/on trials?
2. Hover. How is it for a melee character? I remember there being drift when I used it on my blaster, which didn't matter horribly because I was ranged and if I coasted past my target nothing was really lost. That was... over three years ago, however, and I know the power has undergone some changes. Anyway, does anyone have any experience with Hover-Scrapping?
3. I'm soft-capped to S/L with one person in range and sitting at about 35% to F/C and 30% to E/N. I figured this was good enough.
4. I was hoping to hit at least 300% regen, but I can't seem to get up there. Any suggestions without sacrificing too much?

Also looking at a StJ/Inv Brute. My planned build is below, might not be the most optimal, but I was trying to blend concept and performance. Comments welcome.

Quote:This.This ^ .
And I was laughing a bit last night when I was seeing people complaining about the end cost in help. I started watching carefully and a little adjustment took care of that problem for me... open with a knee to the rib to knock down their res a bit, follow with a couple belly punches, don't use a finisher even though it is ready, knee 'em in the ribs again to knock down that res and then finish 'em off. Obviously not needed on minions, but I was ripping orange/red bosses to shreds doing it this way instead of a paper best chain (without sucking for air) Of course, this is at low level... things may evolve as I get up to higher levels.
I love Initial Strike, I have it set to auto-attack as a fury builder over brawl and it's complete boss. -
I'm curious if anyone has run the numbers between Martial Arts and Street Justice. How do they stack up to one another and which is one "superior" in terms of DPS/Burst/etc?
Which is the premier Scrapper kicky-punchy set? -
Quote:And even those two, as long as you're hovering fairly close to the ground, you still get some benefit. Don't you?Electric Aura
Fiery Aura
Those are the two that I can think of off the top of my head.
Go to www.Paragonwiki.com.
You can read all of the Scrapper powersets to see if there are any others. -
Quote:I just leveled with you. Loved the ink bleed look. Also, Poison Harlot sounds like something you'd pick up at The D on Virtue. I type of fever and rash.Sadly Negate...We could start a cult, build a compound and make some koolaid and no one would pay attention to what would benefit the power...especially to make it on par with others.
Oh...by the way. If you PVP...Poison is pretty darn good. I tested it...and well, it pretty special.
On a side note...My toon was just given 45 mill for looking hot!
Has nothing to do with poison, but I spent some of my points to get neat new stipper like things and well...now Im a toxic harlot! AWESOME!!!
Yay Poison! -
Been rolling a Fire/EA toon for about 20 levels and I love it. It looks great together, the damage of Fire is remarkable, and EA has been tweaked such that the ride to 20 has been very smooth. Seems like a very strong combo.
-
Quote:So he'd be vulnerable to one or two psychic melee attacks, pretty much? Almost everything else in melee has an S/L component to it which his armor would cover.Well, look at it this way. An EA scrapper who is softcapped to s/l/e/n/f/c already is vulnerable to the following types of melee attack: psionic and toxic. I'm not aware of any toxic melee attacks, I believe they're all ranged or aoe, so additional melee defense is protecting you from melee psi, pretty much. A snarky poster might say, "and good luck finding any of those!" but that isn't my style so I'll admit that you do actually run into melee psionic attacks on incarnate trials. However, at this point you're taking, slotting and using DA specifically for one type of enemy that appears in one type of content. Why not just use lucks?
The other case you could make is that the EA scrapper probably will only reach the 45% softcap to all types, at best. In this case, DA helps you reach the incarnate softcap without even slotting it for defense. The problem here is that it does not help you reach the incarnate softcap to any type other than lethal. The melee defense doesn't contribute to the kinds of defense you already have. I-trial enemies do indeed use lethal attacks but oh, so many more types do they also use. Again, why not just use lucks? You'll probably need them anyway. -
Quote:This is so not true. Psi generally kills your recharge which generally kills your /Regen.
Plus /regen's biggest benefit is that fact there are no major holes in its mitigation. Psi damage, the biggest killer of the main armors (stone, invuln, SR, etc) is much more common and a much bigger killer of the other armors then /regen. All damage is treated the same with /regen, and nothing really cuts it down quickly.
You have to remember that 0/1/no/no on SOs is the metric, and the main question is can the armor run on that difficulty successfully. /regen not just runs on that, but does it with ease.
That being said I really love my Regen on Beta and I'll be rolling a SS/Regen when it goes live. How is a Regen best IO'd out once you get to 50? Do you folks build for +HP, +Recharge, or +defense? -
I imagine Katana will be quite fantastic if someone is looking to make a more tanky-brute. The fast attacks lend themselves very much to building fury and Divine Avalanche is always just that amazing.
-
Brute claws tends to be a lot of fun. I enjoyed the hell out of my Claws/Inv brute, very sturdy, lots of killing, fast paced grinding, and fairly straight forward. Same can be said for Claws/SR.
For better minion munching Claws/Fire of Claws/Elec would work well.
Quote:Well, I want to make a Claw character, and I've found there to be an -extreme- lack of guides in that regard.
So I wanted to ask a few questions.
First and foremost, what secondary (Aside from Willpower. I've got 5 already) would one recommend?
And two, scrapper or brute?
I want something durable, fun to level, and reasonably powerful that isn't Willpower. (I love Willpower, and I'm sure Claws/WP is amazing, but between SS/Will, MA/Will, Dark/Will, Kin/Will, and Mace/Will, I -seriously- need to branch out.)
Also, I don't particularly care for IOs or set bonuses as a core part of the build. I don't want something that only comes into it's own after you fill it with set bonuses and LotGs. -
Quote:You also had to teleport to move and have mez protection.Aww yeah. I'm so in there.
This is a moment where I put on my curmudgeonly-old-man hat. Ahem... I remember when it were all trees! You whipper snappers have it easy, back in 'day you could perma unstoppable, aggro whole outdoor maps, and you ruddy well LIKED the colours of the powers as they were, thank yew very much. Kids these days... pfeh...
Good times, man. Good times. -
Some follow up questions:
How required is Aid Self on a Shield tank? I'm having trouble melding concept and functionality on what I'm in the process building.
I know Fighting pool is a must. I want Flight for a travel power (which only requires on pick thanks to my vet badges), and I want Hasten. So either I sub out Combat Jumping for Hover or leave the Medicine Pool out of my Tank's build.
Any suggestions? -
Quote:Doesn't make it any more ridiculous that the game pretty much is crossing over into the F2P amount of micro transactions while still charging us all for a sub.Now I think you're missing the point. CoH isn't a charity; it's a BUSINESS. A "cynical" cash grab? Gee, I thought the express purpose of a for-profit business was to make money. Silly me.
Because, like you said, we all will pay for it. Because we're suckers.
I certainly am. -
I'm actually having problems even getting a SS/Shield brute soft-capped in mids. Anyone want to post an example build?
I'm thinking I'll probably go with an off-tank, scrakerish monstrosity. Because the tank is so easy to soft-cap it looks like it's a lot easier to focus on the more fun stuff (+recharge, regeneration, etc). -
So I'm looking at rolling a SS/SD or a SD/SS character. Probably casual play, mostly PUGing, and I was wondering: does the loss of damage on the tank make up for the added survivability and ease to hit the soft-cap?
I actually kind of like tanking with my /WP brute and I wouldn't mind doing so with my Shield character, however, is that pretty much impossible on a brute without a super expensive IO build? -
Hey guys, I'm sure similar threads have been made before, but seeing as I didn't find one on the top 8 pages, I felt safe to go ahead and make one.
So, I remember a flurry of information about KM when it hit a few issues back but now I'm having trouble finding information on it. Where does it fall in comparison to other scrapper sets? For that matter, aside from Shields, does it have any strong synergies with Scrapper secondaries? KM/DA seemed like an amusing concept, as does KM/Regen and KM/SR.
If you had to choose between KM and Claws, which would you say offers an all around better play experience? -
Quote:No, no you don't. I mean, you COULD, but you're ignoring all the lore of the VEAT's story missions. The VEATs that we play are soldiers of Recluse that are so fed up with his **** they continually break rules to get themselves put on the Destined Ones list to just get out from under his thumb.-Those who are as blindly loyal to Coles rule as Arachnos soldiers are to Recluse (We get to play one of them, after all)
That's not a shiny happy soldier, it's one that's damn near close to mutiny. -
Why not? The wolf tail in the Mutant Pack was taken from the Animal pack ahead of schedule to appease people. I assume the rest of the "wolf" parts are in the animal set.

Hi guys,
My computer recently crapped out on me. I bought a fairly nice system from BestBuy (never again) with the intent to upgrade the video card in it for better gaming quality.
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Asus+-+E...&skuId=1243364
So that's it there.
Now I would like to buy a:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130562
Which also means I will need a better power supply which is where I fit a snag. Is there any easier way to know if it will fit in your tower outside of opening the case and measuring the current supply with a ruler?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-088-_-Product
Is what I'm looking at, though I have no idea how big it is.
What do you guys suggest?
