TW and... /WP? /EA? ElA?

I love brutes.
I finished my StJ/FA, now Im thinking about a new Claws/ElA.
So, for TW... as endurance hog, would be better /WP for endurance? /EA for recharge and endurance? /SR for higher defense and some recharge not too clicky?
I havent tried TW in beta so Im lost (as usual)

I hate redraw. Hate. Did I mention hate? i have no doubt i will make a TW character, already bought the set, have 2 concepts in mind. But I will want to pair it with something non clicky, like Willpower.

A lot are going with /Ela, because it combines endurance management with resists (which allow for fairly high levels of survivability combined with Defensive Sweep and Energize) and even adds a little recharge. Willpower would also be an excellent choice, though it will not benefit as much from DS because it only adds to smashing and melee defenses, leaving a lethal hole. EA and SR are good sets, but don't take much advantage from DS.

TW/Elec Optimization

I went for ELA for a few reasons:

1: Damage Aura - my TW/WP toon on beta found that he was always JUST shy of defeating massive numbers of minions, requiring me to waste another AoE where Lightning Field would've sufficed.

2: Tanking potential: Electric Armor is FANTASTIC for iTrials - capped energy, massive S/L, Psi Resistance, the whole 9.

3: End Management - TW is monstrous on the blue bar, so this is a no-brainer.

4: End Drain Resistance - To prevent Carnies and the like from ruining my fun.

That said, I haven't ruled out a TW/Fire for farming purposes, but the elec is going to be my new project.

I guess I'll be in the minority. I went /EA for the endurance management and the recharge to help make TW less sluggish. Also, it's easy to soft-cap. Even for iTrials.

How horrible on the blue bar do you think TW/Inv would end up being? I don't suppose anyone out there is running one?

That depends if you plan on picking up Cardiac and/or Ageless at 50.

I am running a TW/INV and I just hit 37. It is a endurance hog and for the first 30 levels or so I played it like a blaster....no toggles other then Unyielding on.

However, now that I am getting set bonuses, Numina,Mmiracle and end reduction slotted in the attacks it is becoming manageable.

We will see if it continues; however, I am liking it a lot.

p.s. I would have gone with WP; however, I already have 3 at level 50 and I wanted to play a set I hadn't leveled before.

My TW/Inv brute is level 22 and has absolutely no endurance issues. I run Tough AND my S/L toggle from my secondary at the same time. I don't have my attacks slotted for damage, I have them slotted for accuracy and endurance reduction, and I just let Fury do the damage for me right now. It is working just fine

This is pretty much what i'm doing with my TW/EA brute at the moment. First priorities are slotting for ACC and End Redux, THEN plug in some damage...particularly in the AoE attacks as they're the worst offenders. He's 26 right now (2 levels away from Energy Drain...YAY!) and so far it's not working out TOO badly.

Right now i'm trying to figure out how i'm going to boost up his S/L (at least) and possibly Energy defenses to at or near soft cap levels. With no Mids support just yet and just a quick peruse of some of my options...could be a tad difficult as most of the attacks in TW are PBAoE...and there's not a ton of options for that. Then again...I'm still trying to get a handle on IO's (Plus I don't have Energy Drain yet to see the impact that's gonna have on defense).

(As an aside...i'm seriously thinking about rolling up an Elec/TW tank. I'm not usually big on tankers but, with /TW...it might have some promise.)

You can do a semi-mockup using another set in Mids. I'm using Broadsword, since it seems to be the closest we can get to TW in terms of IO sets. It has 4 Melee, 3 PBAOE, so you just have to imagine one of the Melee as PBAOE.

I've got:
4-slotted Kinetic Combat in Crushing Blow and Follow Through,
Steadfast +3%,
Maneuvers and Weave on top of the three Energy Def powers,
Tough 4-Slotted with Reactive Armor,
Taunt 6-slotted with Mocking Beratement,
Scirocco's Dervish in the PBAOEs.

That gets me to 49% S/L, 50.5% F/C, 47% En, 37% Neg, and ~30% Psi if I 6-slot all the Sciroccos (I probably won't, Scirocco's a little light on End Reduction). Replacing Weave with Combat Jumping drops those numbers down to 46% S/L/F/C, 44% En, 34% Neg, and 27% Psi. Easier on Endurance, but less of a buffer against defense debuffs and then you need to figure out where to get more En/Neg. (Energy Drain will probably suffice, really; just hit it in a big crowd.) Keeping Tough whether you go Weave or CJ also means you get 31% S/L and 20-22% E/N resist along with Energy's passives, which is decent.

The upside is none of that relies on the defense buffs from Defensive Sweep or Energy Drain, and if you go with Agility or Nerve for the Defense buffs (I'll be going Agility), hitting Energy Drain with 10 enemies around you gets you to 56+% defense, which is spitting distance of Incarnate softcap. The downside is it's 6 toggles (7 including Tactics), so you really have to focus on End management.

Plus, it's kind of an expensive build. No purples, but the KCs and Sciroccos hurt, and take a couple weeks of tipping at the very least.

I really suggest avoiding Obliteration in TW/EA; it's extremely low on Endurance Reduction. Multi-Strike is the best for End Reduction, but it's weak on set bonuses. My plan is to 5-slot Scirocco without the Acc/Dam, then put the Multi-Strike Dam/End or Dam/End/Rech into the 6th slot.

De minimis non curat Lex Luthor.

Bosstone has a good outline above - ill prob be doing very similar with my TW/EA Brute but also including CJ for the (unslotted) 2.5% Def boost. This also allows another LoTG Proc (which at level 50 makes it a 2.86% Def boost if you dont add another Def IO).

My guy is at 21.5 and as soon as I hit 22 (SO's WOOOHOOO) will be upping it to x2 or even x3 to get more mileage out of the AoE's and more +Recharge (and also so when I get Energy Drain get more END and Def).

Mids has the code ALMOST done for TW and the new Incarnate options and should be passing it to the QA people very soon.

This is quite over the cap for s/l/e/n/f/c (still capped to s/l/e and almost to the rest if you remove maneuvers) without Kinetic Combats.

Just look at Blinding Feint as Build Momentum, the three powers with Eradication are the PbAoE and the two cones (this build would skip defensive sweep), the two ST attacks slotted with Smashing Haymakers are Crushing Blow and Rend Armor (or FT if you want, didn't need to slot one of the ST attacks).

The power order is wacky because I just clicked on whatever to give me +def and the slotting is the bare minimum (that's why I didn't put endred or etc, but you have plenty of slots left). And after I added maneuvers to softcap n/f/c I see I could've done it with less IOs for s/l and added others for e/n. Would be even easier if you dojn't care about sofcapping f/c, I wouldn't need the entire taunt set for example (although I like it for the recharge too).

Why stop there?? You could always soft-cap all but Psi instead.

I'm rehashing a DM/EA build to do just that. I didn't even need Kin Combats to do it either. In fact, as far as defense bonuses go, if you pick the right Eradication enhancements, you shouldn't have to spend too much. Just swap out Tier 9's in this build (slot like the other AoE's) and replace Touch of Fear with Build Momentum, and you're set.

I have a lvl 50 TW/Inv on Protector and have no prob with end at all. It's not fully IO'd yet but, it's holding up well in +2 mobs.
In my experience, Inv is less then a end hog then Willpower by far. So, I won't go that route.
If you would ever like to see my toon in action feel free to stop by Protector.
I have found though that 91% of all players have been taken ElA over all the secondaries but, mainly for the itrail farms.

With Mids updated with Titan Weapons here is my proposed build for my TW/EA brute.

No purples/pvp's. Not cheap.
Also note that with this update the Healing Set proc's dont show the numbers or affect the Totals (Miracle +, Numi ++, RegenTissue +).

No purples/pvp's. Not cheap.
Also note that with this update the Healing Set proc's dont show the numbers or affect the Totals (Miracle +, Numi ++, RegenTissue +).
I'd drop Recall Friend and pick up Energy protection.

Then, move the steadfast +3% to EP and move it's slot to combat jumping for the Winter's gift slow resist.

Now you've got 40% slow resist instead of 20% and some toxic resist.

Here's my TW/EA. Probably doesn't need Tactics as I've just noticed the Kismet proc isn't working in Mids. Will most likely go back to either Taunt or Overload in the 49 slot.

Thanks for the feedback Infini.
I removed Recall friend, moved LBE to the lvl 49 power (left it 2 slotted), took 1 slot from End Drain as I was heavily into the red zone of EndMod and put it in CJ for the Winters Gift proc, added Energy Prot at 47, took 1 slot from Crushing Blow and put that in Enery Prot for the Aegis Res an Aegis Unique (status resistance), left the Steadfast in Tough for more S/L Res.
