  1. Yanno...I keep trying to keep water/mc blaster out of my mind...but that blasted Arcana keeps mentioning it (right along with a dp/mc). GAH! At this rate i'm gonna have to re-roll my water/ice and my dp/elec blasters!

No. NO! I REFUSE to submit! I will NOT re-roll Tsunami Ami Yumi and Gunslinger Raiken! My will is STRONG!

...........So i'll just do all new toons instead............problem solved.

    .....ooohhh...but it's still so tempting....

Oh geez! Bad memories of that. That was back in the days that i was playing my elec/elec brute. He was pretty sturdy despite being purely SO build...but they were one of the few mob types that could melt him fairly quick. Longbow and Arachnoids...but the latter is due to the abundance of toxic damage which /elec lacks resistance to.

    Still...just......

...Really kinda have nothing else to add at this point since honestly...thread has derailed a bit from martial combat to blaster sustain powers and incarmate preferences...

Oh no doubt. That's the very reason I never did the same, myself. But we're also talking about assault sets that have DoT in nearly every power. MA only has it in like...2 powers. One of which i would personally skip (caltrops). But...that could very well just be me.

    Ah...gotcha.

It seems silly to me to spend the time making a new shiny, superawesome power, then give it to one set, and give the other set... caltrops.
Yanno...I gotta admit i'd rather see BoS in the MA set rather than caltrops myself (I skipped Thorntrops on my plant/thorn dom too)...I seriously would never concider dropping the t9 power for it. Especially for the reasoning of sleep conflict. You're basically talking about...what...2 power sets? Electric and MC. This will be slightly less of an issue with Electric as the sleep re-applies AND drains stuff of blue. MC...well...yeah...that kinda gets hosed. But honestly...in a team setting...anything that ain't you is gonna conflict with those powers.

Plus...as I understand it...the range on the "splash" is probably gonna be pretty small. Think /Poison/.

OK...first of all, stand up straight and turn around...cuz you're talking out of your butt at this point.

I mean, seriously...could you GET any more extreme on the one way or another angle? We're talking about a T9 crashing god-mode-y power...NOT armor toggles! Where in the unholy nine levels of Hades did THAT come from? Really?

If it makes you feel any better (and at this point...I highly doubt it) you can think of it in the same sense as the change the devz made to Dimension Shift (why, oh why, they didn't apply this to other powers such as Black Hole, Sonic Cage, and Detention Field is beyond me). You toggle it on...you turn it off when you want...or it ends on its own. So the tech is not entirely unprecidented beyond Hybrid. The only issue here with this is the recharge as it wouldn't start recharging untill after it goes down...as per standard toggles...but if you honestly HAVE to use that power EVERY SINGLE TIME ITS UP...then...wow. Just...wow.

  11. I just watched the TTV broadcast (in syndication via youtube, obviously) and there was one thing that did particularly stand out to me.

Quite some time ago, there was a thread in which the AS for Stalker's StJ was being discussed...specifically the animation for it that many people didn't seem to care for and would've liked something a bit different. I chimed in with the suggestion of a spinning roundhouse, affectionately known to many a martial arts enthusiast as a Tornado Kick. While there were a few people that actually liked the idea, there were of course the nay-sayers against. "Not suited for practical combat" and such were posted...to which yeah...I would tend to agree with them...in an ACTUAL fight. But being that this is a super hero MMO...it would work.

The devz actually took that very attack and gave it to MC and MA...so....YAY! I'm actually happy to see that.

As far as the sets themselves...I am defintely looking forward to them. Especially the blaster secondary.

Burst of Speed just looks like pure awesomesauce, packaged in a can made of awesome, with a code inside the can you can redeem for even MORE awesome!

The dommy set doesn't look too bad either. Though...like others, I will withold judgement on the melee cone power till I can see it in actual practice. (Damn! Now I'm gonna HAVE to re-install that blasted beta server...AGAIN!)

Completely this. I don't recall reading a single post that boiled down to "No Fade option = bad". Quite the opposite, in fact.

The problem with the OP is that they were arguing the fact that the I-24 blaster sustain effects were being placed into CD (soon to be FO), forcing her to take and actually USE a power (which she currently has the power but simply uses it for a LotG +rech mule) that they concider to be a completely worthless power that provides absolutely no benefit to her what-so-ever in combat. She did at least admit that it does have some built-in defense, but then goes on to state that said defense suppresses to basically ZERO while in combat. In short...it is a NON-COMBAT POWER.

Sure...she did also touch on the transparency issue of CD...but she did so in an extremely condescinding way. Actually...she was flat out rude, insulting, and touched on man-hating. Personally...I didn't find issue with her issue that she didn't like the transparancy...but I DID find issue in the manner in which she voiced it.

    Again, to quote:

Of course...this is slightly overlooking the fact that the OP doesn't just have an issue with CD and being see-through but apparently has such a blind hatred of it that it clouds her judgement and reasoning and causes her to make...well...seriously stupid assumptions.

Ugh...frankly I could quote this girl all day but...I'll leave it at this to prevent a tl;dr post. Honestly...if there's any confusion here as to why a lot of us are a bit up in arms...go back and read candy's posts again. Again...try telling that to an /EA toon. Now I WILL grant you that for a power that is built into a set...it should have at least some bit of signifigant advantage over a pool power. As it stands now...the only major advantage CD has over the stealth PP is that it has no movement penalty (pool stealth applies a -runspeed...CD does not). Honestly...I would like to see CD get a slight boost to the defense buff...even if it is only 1% or 2% higher than it is now.

It just makes you transparent to yourself, and other PLAYERS. In itself, being hard to see to other players is a DEBUFF. This power as it sits is a debuff to you, that lies and says it is helping you when fighting, that is my issue with this power.
Hmm...funny you should say that. I used to run on a 3-man team with one of the people being an ill/ troller that ran superior invisibility full time and i had no troubles at all seeing where he was. Maybe that was because i could always see his name wherever he went. /em shrugs.

While we're on the subject...i seem to remember quite a few of those afore mentioned /EA players riling themselves into an uproar when the devs made a slight change to Energy Cloak where the transparency visual suppressed while in combat. Apparently...a lot of people actually DO like being see-through.

Ok...yes...guilty. I do INDEED...have twig and berries. I would say that I'm sorry for being a representive of the male gender but honestly...I'm not.

Secondly...for me it was never so much of the "coolness" of being transparent (and let's face it...i'm a guy...i'm already pretty transparent) as much as it was FITTING. You don't see the Invisible Woman walking around in broad daylight saying "I'm invisible...you can't see me.", do you? Nnnnooope! She's actually (gasp) INVISIBLE! That is how almost ALL stealth powers in this game (and frankly...many, MANY others) are portrayed. You're transluscent/transparent. One exception to this would be Super Speed...but that makes sense thematically as well. You zip by so fast that stuff is kinda like "wtf was THAT?"

Oh...and we don't particularly dislike you because you bring it up...we just think your a dunce because even when given statements and evidence that states the contrary to your claims...you STILL hold firm to your own self-proclaimed conclusions and that everyone else is out to get you...or...something.

Synapse is putting the i24 blaster fix (regen + recovery) into every blaster secondary set, for those not hearing this before. (THIS IS IN THE FUTURE! NOT IN GAME NOW). After i24 the blaster fix for /devices is in Cloaking Device! This forces any /devices blaster to take that self-debuff to get the +regen and +recovery. Now I did not sign up to be a stalker, I do not want to be invisible all the time, but if I skip this one power, I become so weak the DEVs say I am not really a blaster anymore, I would be GIMPING myself.

No other set is being forced to take a NON-COMBAT power to get this buff.

I have 2 OUT OF COMBAT attacks already and 1 OUT OF COMBAT DEFENSE in my secondary, you people that do not play devices can just shut the H E double TOOTHPICKS up. Obviously Synapse does not play a devices blaster.
This just has so many diverse levels of "wrong" that I don't even know WHERE to begin...save for the fact that my very first level 50 in this game was an Elec/Dev blaster. Ssssoooo....BZZZZZT!!!

But I suppose that I will also echo that CD does have DEFENSE while IN COMBAT. Minimal as it may well be...IT IS THERE. And as anyone that is scratching for +defense numbers via IO's will tell you...EVERY PERCENTAGE POINT COUNTS! This one detail in and of itself negates your claim that this is a NON COMBAT POWER!

    Mmmmmmmmoving on!

So I am gutting all my purples out, selling them etc, I don't care. These blaster fixes, the snipe, the nuke, those are all for OTHER archtypes more than for a blaster, only this regen/recovery boost is the 'blaster' fix. I know he will put that on the damn cloak. I made up my mind my first character is done. I wonder how long the fun will last for my alts.
    Can I has your stuff?

Um...ED curb-stomped everyone. Yanno...in case you missed it.

And now that I have finally made it to the end of your seemingly endless rantings of WRONG...let me just say one last thing. If you wanted a blaster secondary power set of IN COMBAT ATTACKS...you SERIOUSLY picked the wrong secondary. /Devices has never had, nor most likely never WILL have these things UNLESS they devz were to DRAMATICALLY OVERHAUL a fairly SIGNIFIGANT portion of the ENTIRE set (you know...typing all the capital letters is kinda fun. I should really do this more often. Is that why you do it?)

Of course...my saying all of this is ultimately pointless as you're not going to bother reading this anymore. But honestly...why did you bother to even MAKE (yay! I did it again!) this thread if you were just gonna throw a hissy-fit temper tantrum simply because everyone here did not bend to your will and jump aboard your delusional band-wagon and storm the dev's office with pitchforks, torches, and picket signs that read "This chick is crazy...but yeah...what she said!" and begin DEMANDING that they do...whatever the heck it was you were trying to lobby for.

    ....Eh...whatevz. I'm done.

If I'm reading this right...I fail to see where there's a disadvantage of "having to [not] be in the middle of a mob to avoid scattering them all over whenever you want the buff".

However...if you happen to have made a grammer goof (which I sometimes do as i get multiple versions of a statement stuck in my head and sometimes end up melding them when typing) and are talking about the new LC having to hit something for buff...it doesn't, last I checked.

Either that or.......yeah, I'm lost. heh.
  18. my Water/Ice blaster Tsunami Ami Yumi has been a joy to play. As Chris said...certainly a thrill to play on teams...but have done a smidge of solo work. Actually soloed a +0/x3 freakshow mission last night...which is saying something for me since i never try that on blasters and i'm not an IO specialist (read: i have jack for defense). Did fall down once...but all in all handled it pretty well.

The irony here is...I've never thought of Cloaking Device as being an unpopular power. Most every /Dev blaster I've ever seen (including mine) HAS cloaking device. Hell...if you were to ask me...CD is one of the major reasons TO take up /dev...to say nothing of Targeting Drone.

I'd say that if there is any general "unpopularity" with it...it would be in the area of slot devotion. Most folks (short of min/maxers, perhaps) may just leave it at the default slot and call it done...which in and of itself isn't really bad. CD can be a good default slot power choice...for what it does. But it's flexible enough to help someone squeeze a little more out of it via IO slotting and set bonuses. I-24 is just gonna expand that even more-so....and even then could still do quite a bit with minimal slotting. Like say...the LotG +rech and the Numi's +regen/recovery? Maybe?

  25. Haven't gotten to Shiver level just yet...but getting there. Kinda on the fence about taking it. Frozen aura? Now THAT i plan to just forget it even exists. I'm playing a Water/Ice'r...AoE Sleep (meager in most every way conceivable as it is) + Lotsa AoE hurtage = Why in the unholy 9 levels of Hades did i even bother USING that friggin power?! So...yeah...CERTAINLY wouldn't mind having THAT replaced with ISC.

...Or the adding damage to FA option, too.

I'm kinda liking /ice on my blaster as it offers some pretty good mitigation (for a blaster anyway). Lotsa slow...some tasty -rech...and lovely, lovely ice patch (i'm so loving that power). My one and really only complaint with it is the lack of any extra damage...AoE or otherwise. Shoot...even DEVICES has more in that respect...even if some of it is a bit....hinky...but then that's just /devices.
