New Boomtown.com Interview with Posi
Villains get free Inf? Sweet.
Though if Infamy is now money, they really add a massive bonus to those bank robbery missions...
Always remember, we were Heroes.
Your title is so misleading... I assumed 'Boomtown' meant the zone, not the name of a website

Merged Markets?!
Pretty weak interview.

Well, when they ask about things he can't talk about yet, what do you expect?
Kind of reminds me of an interview during the first Gulf war where some of the reporters didn't get a clue (not saying that about the Boomtown person.)
"So, where are the troops going?"
"For security reasons, I can't talk about ongoing or planned operations."
"So how many troops are there?"
"For security reasons, I can't talk about ongoing or planned operations."
"So will you be attacking..."
*exasperated looking general, speaking more slowly*
"For security reasons, I can't talk about ongoing or planned operations."
<QR>
Nothing exceptionally interesting except a bunch of broad generalizations about potential future updates. Ah well.
"One day we all may see each other elsewhere. In Tyria, in Azeroth. We may pass each other and never know it. And that's sad. But if nothing else, we'll still have Rhode Island."
That's what happens when you let a destroyed city zone conduct an interview. Honestly, I'm impressed it was able to ask any questions!

Let's see... I'll give 3 points for the tone.. Another 3 points for saying what you had to say and getting out... Aaaaaand 3.6 points for humor...
All in all you get 9.6 out of 10 points... Sorry, no rounding off...
My mind wanders so often you've probably seen its picture on milk cartons. - Me... the first person version of the third person Steelclaw
Wow, I like this addative point systems! They make my posts look half decent

Why even do interviews about Going Rogue if you're not going to reveal anything? More and more convinced it'll release 2010.
I like how he put it...
[ QUOTE ]
As for content, these new games need to remember that they are not competing against what City of Heroes was at launch, but the five years of content and systems that we have added to the game since. Everything from playable Villains to the Invention System to Badges to Pact Leveling and the innovtive Mission Architect system are examples of features that weve added over the past five years that have enhanced and grown an already solid game. Moreover, weve got an amazing community that only comes with time and experience which is key to the player experience, especially in a MMO.

Pretty much, we are at level 5 they are just starting out, not even level 1 yet. Makes sense to me, one of the reasons I'm not going to switch to any other new superhero MMO, they won't be able to match what we have with the quality as well.

First quarter 2010, AT THE EARLIEST, is my guess. My spider-sense is telling me this thing is a very long ways away no matter how you slice it.

The comment regarding having not scoped out all the costume pieces that will be available with GR in particular has me agreeing with you.
Sounds like it's earlier in development than I initially believed with the first announcement.
On a totally different note: kinda thrilled about the travel power designs that were back burnered. Nice to know they have at least given a little drafting table time to the stuff.
Yeah. I truly hope that someday, we'll have grappling hooks and "ice slides" (or other slides).
But I prefer that they work on more important stuff first, like they've been doing.

If you are talking about the comic-book inspired genre, I can tell you that that we are working on something we think will keep City of Heroes on par or better than our competition.

This sounds awesome! Unfortunately it does appear more and more that Going Rogue isn't coming until next year, bummer that.

It's just the end of June now. Six months left in the year, they've been working on this for how long now? Long enough to get some preliminary screenshots, mention that I16 is not the same as Going Rogue and some of the plans involved...
Other than chronic pessimism, I see nothing to say it's *not* going to be sometime this year. Late this year? I'd believe that, sure.

This issue has been cooking since Issue 6 at the latest.
I expect to see it fall or Winter.
-Rachel-
I said it from the beginning, my guesstimate is in the June or July 2010 time frame. I'll be tickled pink if it makes it before then, but realistically speaking, it sounds like they're putting a pretty heavy-duty development effort in, much more than adding some city zones and GUI candy.
Theory o' Tony is also that they're not just adding content and game mechanics, but rewriting (or seriously upgrading) the graphics engine as well. I mean, everything that I've read so far is pointing to that. There's no escaping the fact that if they don't update the graphics engine, the competition is going to beat City of Heroes over the head with that. Whether or not you care for the style of graphics in CO, by the time it comes out, it will look more polished.
I'll be excited to see where this goes.
We've been saving Paragon City for eight and a half years. It's time to do it one more time.
(If you love this game as much as I do, please read that post.)
To be honest, I found this the most interesting:

Boomtown: In the 5 years City of Heroes has been on the market, weve seen many new powersets. However, we havent seen a new major travel power. Is that due to an engine limitation or is that a design decision? After all superhero lore is full of various travel styles.
Matt Miller: Weve designed and back-burnered several new travel powers over the past 5 years. It seems that there has always been something more broad to do with that development time. Someday! We have a lot of other work to do that our players are going to love.
[/ QUOTE ]
Never realized that new travel powers were being considered at any point.

Crap. Anyone managed to copy this interview? Link won't work for me.
The Abrams is one of the most effective war machines on the planet. - R. Lee Ermy.
Q: How do you wreck an Abrams?
A: You crash into another one.
Can Posi just NOT do the interview next time and save us all the time to read:
"I can't talk about that yet"
"we'll make an announcement about that soon"\
"no we're not working on that at the moment as theres more interesting things i can't talk about right now that we are working on. but i can't talk about them."
Not when he's asked things he can't comment on, no.
Besides, we DID get some information out of it.

Mostly "Can't answer that" answers, but some info:
Like Praetoria will be multiple zones, GR will have new difficult things for 50s to do to make themselves more powerful. Also,
