getting shivans impossible?

i went thru took all the big outer turrents down to almost nothing then went and killed all the machine guns which ate up all 10 of my inspirations then killed all the outer turrents went inside and it said i must completely destroy them. which i did then all the machine guns had respawned with no insps i was just s o l so the info i got really had some holes in it somewhere sry guys didnt work!

Based on what you just posted, it sounds like you only weakened the outer guns, then took on all four small guns and then tried to wipe out the outer guns. It doesn't look like you even bothered to try time the respawn at all. Since this wasn't the tactic we suggested, I'm not surprised that it failed.
The info you got didn't have any holes in it, you simply failed to read it carefully. I'm sorry you failed to get your Shivan, but the method given here does work if you do it correctly. You need to weaken every gun, then kill one [u]and only one gun[u], then wait for that gun to respawn. Then and only then do you go around killing all the other guns.
I use this method on my Defenders all the time, there's no reason a PB shouldn't be able to do it. You may have to duck inside the firebase itself and rest a few times while you're weakening the four small guns as all of them will shoot at you, but this method does work if you do it correctly.
Here's a redux version, maybe it'll help you to follow it if I break it down into each step:<ul type="square">[*] Attack and weaken all the turrets. This means all four small turrets on the firebase and all the larger outlying turrets connected to that base. Weaken [u]all[u] of them. Do [u]not[u] destroy any of them.
This may take some time and you may need to retreat and rest several times while doing this, especially when weakening the four small turrets on top of the firebase. Going inside the firebase is an easy way to rest up when you need to before going back out to keep working on weakening the turrets[*] Choose one weakened turret and destroy it.[*] WAIT[*] When the one turret you destroyed respawns, destroy it again.[*] After you've destroyed it the second time, quickly run around and finish off the other weakened turrets[*] Once all the turrets are down, go inside the firebase and refine your ore. You should have plenty of time to do this if you've followed the directions above.[*] Return to the Scientist near the entrance to the zone to get your Shivan temp power.[/list]

Yeah, the Turrets respawn. So what I do, is pick one turret spot, something I can take out easy (a far outer turret, for example), and then take it out. I then bring all the others (including the inner ones) to a sliver of HP.
All the while, I'll keep an eye on the turret I already destroyed. If it respawns before I bring all the others to a sliver, I'll go back and take it out. This is where it helps for it to be out of the way, so the others don't attack.
Once you have them all to a sliver, you have two choices:
A) take them all out fast, rush to the computer and click.
B) wait for the defeated one to respawn, take it out, then rush around and take them all out.
Option B takes longer, but has a much higher success rate (and if you fail, option A will absolutely take longer).

Well written and accurate, if followed well, you should have no issue with
getting shivans ever again. Same stratagy was told to me for my stalker
over 2 years ago, and it has worked on every toon that didnt have the
offencive punch to take them down fast (like a blaster can do).
<QR> My Tank has almost no attacks that that level, and I rely on my veteran powers to take out the turrets. The above method has always worked wonders for me as well.
I am leading a Bloody Bay expedition next Tuesday.. it's a Taxibot activity. I will be on Taxibot Icy. We go as a team and usually have no problems getting the shivens.
joelandrum, if you want help, you should listen to what people have to say and not get defensive over perceived slights. There has been a lot of good advice in this thread, but it won't do you any good if you're not willing to listen, learn and act on that advice.

Not even two weeks ago I managed to take a level 15 rad/sonic defender into BB solo, get every meteor, and take out the hardest firebase I could find one turret at a time with zero help. it's not anywhere near impossible, or even close to difficult.

This is exactly how I get Shivan with my Ill/Emp controllers. I stealth in damage each turrent to all but gone and then take them all down quickly before they can respawn. I've done it numerous times and have always had success using that method. Use the same method now with any character I send in after them and have never had a problem.
Hey if that doesn't work for you for some reason.. stop trying solo and go to global channels and broadcast you are forming a Shivan collecting team. Depending on the time of day I am sure you can get an 8 man team together in no time and at that point taking out all the turrents is a breeze.

One other thing to add: when you're whittling down the inner turrets on the firebase itself, you can make it so you're only getting hit by at most two at a time if you stand/hover right below them, tight up against the walls of the firebase. This blocks at least two of the other turrets' line of sight to you, so they won't shoot.
Another thing I noticed while getting shivans on my ill/rad troller, that you have to drop stealth, for little bit, to spawn guns on the top of base.
Hi. You mentioned that you had a hard time hitting any of the turrets, and although it might sound silly, I'm wondering how much accuracy you have in your attacks at level 16. Before SO's, the only enhancements I even bother with are three accuracy IOs (or DOs) in each attack, and that's it. Damage, recharge, end redux - all that junk doesn't mean jack unless you can hit what you're shooting at consistantly. My oppinion anyway.
Larry: Owen, what the hell did you do to my wife?
Owen: Well I don't want to say on the phone - all I can tell you is that I killed her last night.

Why would a level 16 need a shivan?
[/ QUOTE ]
I would have to say that after reading the OP's responses in this thread, he needs shivans because his bad attitude makes him a poor teammate, and inability to follow simple instructions makes soloing difficult for him. At least shivans won't get disgusted with him and quit his team.

Yes, take them all down to just a hair of health remaining. You can take your chances defeating them all and hope you don't run out of time with a respawn, but if you defeat ONE of them, then wait for it to respawn, and THEN finish them all off at once.. there is no reason why it can't be done on any type of character.

If you happen to be on Infinity, then please note that Taxibot Icy is leading a team into Bloody Bay this Tue Jun 9th at 8:30pm EST. I'll be posting a notice in the Infinity forums a little later.
This is part of our Tuesday-night PvP zone teaming activities. It's not specifically for fighting villains, though we *will* defend ourselves.

Not quite in the same vein, but when Hobo destroyed Infernal with an empathy buffed Shivan, there was a bit of teasing about Level 50 Shivan looking for H34lorz.
I think Hobe got maybe 5 shots off before the AV went down.

heh after reading through this string of posts this about sums it up.
If the OP wants Shivians then he wants Shivians, regardless of what he's fighting.
As far as I can see he asked a perfectly civil question in the correct manner for these forums, except for the lack of capitals and punctuation, but this is about the norm these days.
He also got one or two very helpful replies and the onus is on him to acknowledge them in the same manner as they were given and be thankful that someone was able to help him.
Time and time again I see these forums degenerate into a slanging match between parties that have been members long enough to know better.
Why don't we all try to set a good example and be polite to each other and just get along?
