Just because the AE became popular for farming, doesn't mean the devs will accept that. If they could delete every single farming mission and feature from the AE without hurting storytelling content, they most likely would.

They can just run a ban script to target any and all missions with "farm" in the title, temp ban the accounts for 3 days, pat themselves on the back and move on.
No, I am not campaigning against AE...Yes, AE is annoying as it neigh impossible to get a team for old school mish's, including badges and accolades. Thats the realy annoying part. To me atleast.
And no, I am a blonde and proud to be one. I dont know numbers, they give me headaches. I do farm. But from what I have read and from what I understand, AE was supposed to be different from the rest of the game...Yes, it is different in the fact that you get no drops...And that you can continously farm them without having to worry abotu completing them....Thats all fine and dandy...I guess...
I dont know, it just realy annoies me that you cant find normal teams anymore outside of AE. And when you meet the n00b 50's who only know AE and nothing else about the game, but they are running ITF's, raids and other good thing, but end up making comeplete team wipes because they dont know their toons, Now, that realy gets my panties in a bunch. For the past few weeks, I have made it a habbit to check for vet badges before I do anything with a team...Anything under 3 months and I quit the team...No point when my main already has the damage and debt badges...
Well, I guess my idea of having fun and playing the game are alot different than most other peoples...
I hate all this terrorist business. I used to love the days when you could look at an unattended bag on a train or bus and think to yourself.... I'm going to take that.
Where are all the like minded people you ran with prior to I14? I don't get this I can't find a team thing one bit.
The development team and this community deserved better than this from NC Soft. Best wishes on your search.

It was sarcasm regarding how devs dealt with fast PLed toons.
Isn't tone of voice a strong component of recognizable sarcasm?

at least someone got it.
I can tell you one thing: this idea that the majority of the playerbase was against the fast xp farms is a complete fabrication.
There was so much proof of this it's practically laughable to read Positron's comments that it was the opposite.
Don't turn this into a morality holier-than-thou argument.

The idea that the people who expressed their concerns to Positron at the virtual meet and greets were the only reason for the crackdown is equally laughable.
This was presented as a justification, but not the only reason. I believe that one of the responses Posi gave to one of those players was that the Dev team shared their concern. This means that the Devs were wondering what to do about it before the first meet and greet.
Easy powerleveling in low level zones is bad for the long term health of the game. It gives new players the impression that City of Heroes is a "begins at 50" game. Most of us can agree that the endgame of CoH is anemic at best. New players, who get powerleveled without a plan in mind, especially if they came here from a "begins at <level cap>" game like WoW, see that there is a lot of "not much to do at 50," will quickly get bored and leave the game without ever experiencing most of it.
I have no problem with experienced veterans powerleveling to get past the parts they have decided they don't like or to get to certain milestones (Travel Power, Stamina, Tier 9 of Primary, Tier 9 of Secondary, or PVP, to name the common ones), but new players should be allowed to experience the content and make their own decisions about whether they would like to skip it.
Powerleveling used to be confined to Peregrine Island and Grandville. If a new player found it, it is because they were looking for it. Post Issue 14, it was almost impossible for a new player to not get sucked into AE power farms.
In the end, City of Heroes is a business venture, anything that could reduce the life of the game by even one month needs to be smashed immediately (Anything that is under the Devs' control, obviously. They can't simply crack down on the Economy or the competition). The real crime on the Devs' part was that it took the Devs three weeks to start the smashing.
New story arcs coming soon (ARC IDs will be aded when I finish the arc):
So, you want to join the Hellions? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)
Sparks & Steel (level 5-20 Heroic arc)
and
So you want to join the Skulls? (level 1-14 Villainous arc)

Perhaps. However, the idea that the majority of the playerbase was FOR the fast xp farms is just as complete a fabrication, however.
Most simply didn't care either way.

Yes, this is completely true. Look at all the proof:
Obviously "vocal" = "majority"!
Those who are loudest and most persistent obviously represent the largest group!
Spamming broadcast makes you representative of the entire playerbase by default. Everyone knows that!
Ideas presented without support can be rejected without support.

People at the MA doesn't mean that everyone was Farming at the MA. Broadcast does not represent everyone in the zone's team-finding ability or even actions.

Agreed.
The majority of the people complaining about the smashing of AE farms are not looking long term at all. They are looking at "I WANT MAH 50 NAO!!!!"
I've said as much in other threads. CoH does not have a whole lot of advertising out there. Most people I know who play, started playing because a friend recommended the game.
If the devs had never cracked down on the AE farms you would have people saying to their friends (who might have tried the game) "Don't waste your money on that game, you get to the level cap in 2 days and then there's nothing to do."
If someone told ME that, I would be much less inclined to spend my money on that game. I'm sure at least a good chunk of the playerbase would agree with me there too.
As the game gets older, the veteran players start spending less time in game, and gradually start leaving for other things. Not quickly, but eventually (if there were no new players) the subscription numbers would drop to a point where the game would be shut down.
If all the new players know is AE farming missions and don't even know where Cimerora, RWZ, Peregrine Island, or Grandville ARE, let alone know what there is to do there, they are going to get bored really fast and tell their friends the game sucks because you get to the end in hours and there's nothing else to do.
The devs aren't trying to punish people, they're trying to protect their game and their jobs in the long term. Because what seems harmless now can do a lot of damage over time, and the devs are very likely to be fully aware of that.

The simplest and easiest way that the Dev's could put a stop the farming AE (And I am wholeheartedly for this idea) is to put a complete stop to gaining xp for individual mobs, and drops ticket output as well, But only to this point; Finishing the AE mish/Arc will give a set amount # of tickets plus a set amount # of xp for how difficult the mish/arc is.
personaly, this makes sense to do. it would definately put a stop to farming AE, which I am ALL for!

I farm, i always finish my farm story arcs for the ticket boost.
I dont get your point here.

That would be because this person doesn't understand how the AE is used for farming. There is no downside to finishing an AE farm mission, and in fact, they're designed to be finished in record times. You can just grab it again and again to keep doing the same mission over and over. Your fix that you're so wholeheartedly in favor of will fix nothing.
I do like the "Flame on" bit at the end. Real cute. I suggest learning about the thing you're campaigning against before trying to suggest fixes to it. You're not the only poster I've had to make this request to, mind (name withheld because saying it would be pointless).
