I'm going to suggest you put all chat-related bugs into the *critical* category.

Why?

Because chat-related bugs are the single most visble category of bugs in the game. EVERYONE sees them. EVERYONE deals with them.

Seeing your most basic social interface bugged, in an established MMORPG, presents a very unpolished and unprofessional product.

I strongly urge you to put all reported chat interface bugs on the "critical - do not release until fixed" list.

It's not a random string.

Pay attention to them, and realize what keys you use to move/execute powers

100011500wwwwwwawwaThat's very nice, Ghost Falcon. I'm glad the development team fixed a bug that was reported during the beta test of Mission Architect.

However, I'm not talking about *current* bugs. I'm talking about ALL chat bugs, current and future.

I've had that happen. What freaks me out more is that I've had it happen while entering my password to login. I'm paranoid that I'll end up somehow accidentally broadcasting my login password to the game via this bug.

Can we get it moved up a little bit if it's classified as a security risk?

(because seriously, it is one if it has a chance of pulling passwords and logins and "storing" them for later)

I wish they'd hire somebody who knows which end of an interface is up one of these days.

The fact that we're here cheering the return of LINE BREAKS should make the devs avert their gazes in embarrassment.

I, for one, am very happy with the improvements we've seen over the years... and look forward to seeing things such as "line breaks" fixed soon.

How about a new game instead?

Here, let me get the door for you...

How about I'm comfy where I am but I'd like interfaces that don't suck and text editing options that are available on typewriters.

What is it about this game that makes so many players so overwhelmingly eager to chase others away?

"want line breaks? go play WoW, loser!" is a new low.

It seems to work, too. However... If you copy your Character Description to or from the Clipboard, line breaks still get eaten. This gets in the way of editing and saving your bio off line. At least now you can correct it.

I doubt you're gonna broadcast your login name plus your NCsoft master account info. Just be cautious of what you type.

OK, it seems to work pretty well. A word of advice, though, keep an eye on the new character count/limit display. In trying to fix up the bio of a character I created in I14, I got the counter to tell me all sorts of things. At one point I had it telling me that every space character was using 6 characters of storage. Then it said it wasn't. And if you select and delete the whole bio, the counter doesn't reset. It also has problems deciding if you start at position 1 or 0 - it told me both at different times.

My best results were from nulling out my description and pasting it in from an external editor. You lose any line breaks, but they're easy to put back, and (according to the counter) don't cost extra as if they were being stored as <br> or anything like that.

There's a layer of pseudo-HTML filtering going on *sometimes*. I'm guessing the 6 spaces for a space is the HTML code for NBSP (non-breaking space) with some sort of escaping. Why it is putting in pseudo-HTML sometimes and something much closer to ASCII sometimes, seems to be kind of a mess.

The other day, I tried to fix my messed-up character description...

It was like playing hide and seek with the bloody cursor for 5 minutes!

Eventually I had to do what UberGuy suggested.

I used Ctrl + A to clean out my description, fired up my trusty Notepad, fixed it up, pasted it back in and inserted the line breaks. It was a lot easier.
