What was the time length...

For you to get your first 50. I'm asking this out of a somewhat self-pity because a month or two ago I got my 12 month vet award and my highest level toon that I had was a level 21 that I will scrap as soon as i get a toon to the same level. If you plan to ask What my play time/style I usualy only got to play on weekends for about 5 hours at a time. So back to my original question how long did it take you to get your first 50.

Bill Z Bubba was created back in Sep of 04. It was Jan or Feb of 05 when he hit 50. Around 4 months. There was a LOT of soloing during that period.

Be well, people of CoH.

I think hours of play is far more relevant then calendar days.

Some people play 6 hours a week, just on weekends, others play 30+ hours a week, spread out everyday. I think the data you want.. and should use.. you will get from talking to any random citizen with a name beginning with the letter "M."

My first 50 was a DM/SR Scrapper, I think I took 456 hours more or less.
I enjoyed every single hour... slowly.
I urge you to do the same.

I had about... a year and half maybe, 700+ hours of playtime.

My first 50 was very similar to BillZ's. Created mid to end of September '04 and hit 50 about a week before Issue 3 came out (February '05?). Took 420 hours.

Hmm. My empath was RP-heavy. and took about a year and a half to get to 50. She was my first.
My controller, Radi, was my original character, but I did a reroll on her. Let's say about a year.
Bennu, my second controller...about 8 months.
iMaid, my MM....let's say 6 months, all told.

Time to fifty tends to go down the longer you play - you learn the game, figure out the stuff you can do quickly and the stuff you can't....

I rolled him in August or so of 2004, and hit 50 sometime in January 2005. Think I had about 700 hours logged, but a lot of that was RP and such.

Cat's right. Altitis seriously draws out the time.

I've been sitting on a character that's at 49.8 for about 5 months now, and haven't gotten Accelle to 50 yet because my most recent characters are so fascinating.

Took me about two years to get my <currently> one and only 50.
Number of hours wouldn't work for me since I Alt a bit. In all honesty, if it weren't for the introduction of VEATs I probably still would not have a 50.

I just had to have a widow.

My first 50, Call Me Awesome, an Inv/Stone tanker hit 50 in roughly 250 hours back in issue 3 (technically issue 4, as he made the ding on day one of issue 4).

Really, hours played is the only way to fairly measure the 1-50 time; someone who plays 6+ hours a day, 7 days a week will obviously advance faster than someone who plays a couple of hours a week, and someone who focuses on one character will move faster than someone who plays a lot of different characters. On a straight time measure I think it was probably roughly 3-4 months after I joined the game before I got CMA to 50... he was the second character I rolled up.

Since that time I've gotten 11 characters to 50... and they've taken from 400 hours (the longest, on my Dark Defender) to 75 hours (My Archery/EM blaster on a SG team). I expect that record to change shortly as my Broadsword/Shield scrapper is currently sitting at level 45 with 40 hours of play; nearly all of that with a superteam of 4 Shield scrappers.

Over the issues there have been several changes to XP and leveling speed; today it's MUCH faster to level than it used to be even without using the Architect missions. 1-22 is easily doable in 12 hours for a good player with a decent team, even faster running some of the Architect missions.

Nightshade hit 50 close to the end of my 4th month in the game - the first 42 levels or so being done in a single month, and mostly soloing. All in all I think it took just under 200 hours.

I had a lot of free time that month

First character created a couple days after City was first released in 2004, hit 50 early August 2004. Three, four months or so.

I think it took me 3 months and about 250 hours of mostly soloing to get my namesake Scrapper (Umbral Fist) to 50 back in 2004. I "took it slow" mainly because I wanted to complete all of the content. I distinctly remember finishing all of it at level 47 with no upper end TF to help top me off (and no auto-exemping either!).

I can't recall exactly, but it was something like 2 years or more. I'm alao altoholic.

Now if you want to ask about my second 50 - that one will be five years, give or take, since I have 2 characters who were in my first batch of alts now in their 40s and lkely to be my second 50, probably before the end of 2009, unless I get distracted again.

My highest villain, rolled on pre-start weekend, is only 41.

If you are enjoying the characters, 50 is just another number you eventually reach. Don't sweat it.

A bit of advice - don't scrap the level 21. One of the level 40ish characters I mentioned above almost was scrapped because she ended up being a WinterLord baby (in the mid20s when I had no idea how to play her). I kept her around though until I got more used to the game - and she has all the anniversary badges and is now tons of fun. The same thing might happen with your poor level 21.

I think my first 50 was around 400 hours. It would have been longer if it weren't for the Sewer Trial's massive XP.

This

I leveled up my scrapper and empath about evenly, and it took about a year, with lots of alts in between. It took me another year to get my next one, a kin defender on a different server up, and I've only recently gotten my 4th 50 up. I do have about 6 charcters with xp locked down at about 44-45 though. I don't want to outlevel some stuff.

Well, it was not the first character I made, but one of the first. Maybe a month into the game. I got my first 50 about a month after Kheldians were implemented ("ooh, more alts!"). Guess when my first villain hit 50.

About a month (dec '08 - jan '09), with 93-94 hours of play. Which, if you do the math, shows I played an embarrassing number of hours per day.

It's taken me from my reg date until a few months ago to actually take a character to 50.

My first 50 was around nine months to get him to 50 and i played maybe a couple hours a day six days a week.

Minor Correction, was just UNDER the year, I trawled the level 50 thread on Triumph to find the date. 8/24/05

My 3rd 50 was 27 months from creation to getting there (emp/elec)

Wow I think it took me about 4 years... not because of difficulty but altoholism that made me reroll characters all the time.

Right now i am close to have my first 50 villain and yet again I am deviating to a lowbie one... I guess i suffer from ADD...

19 months for my first 50, I think he had about 250 hours on him, I teamed quite a bit on him.

Psyonico hit 50 just a couple months back, almost 3 years, but I solo'd him quite a bit, and was always frustrated because I couldn't find teams, he probably had about 350 hours on him to 50.
