  1. While I really like Dark, /Thermal goes well with demons. The resistance stacks up nicely (Ember demon with fire shields is a baby tank for alpha soaking) and all the heals make a solid combo with resistance (something I never liked about Sonic).

The debuffs at the end are a nice bonus, too. Thermal really makes a powerful support character across the board, and while my other MMs have been lolPoison and Storm, I feel that Thermal offers as much as Dark could, possibly more.
  2. Not to highjack your thread or anything, but the Roleplayers channel usually sees two to three teams formed a night from pick-up RP leveling teams to TFs and occasionally leagues. I try to organize three or four WST or ITFs a week myself in the channel, and have usually had no trouble getting to eight people in a reasonable time.

Side note: Monday night's ITF was not assembled in reasonable time.
  3. Well, this is perhaps more of a KM question than a DA one, seeing as taking nearly everything from DA is a good idea, the possible exception being Cloak of Fear. I'm more wondering what from KM is worth having, along with which power pools. I figure fighting is a must, but the rest is up in the air.

Slotting suggestions also welcome, but my IO growth is usually organic (what I can get and afford) rather than simply picking sets all at once and buying them.
  4. I recently took my Earth/Psy dom out of mothballs from two or three years ago. Unfortunately, there appear to have been major changes to doms in general and psy assault as well. Is it still a solid combination?

I'm looking at respeccing soon, currently have these powers:
From Earth Control: Fossilize, Quicksand, Stalagmites, Earthquake, Volcanic Gasses, and Animate Stone
From Psy Assault: Psionic Dart, Mind Probe, TK Thrust, Psychic Scream, Drain Psyche, Subdue, Psionic Lance, and Psychic Shockwave (much nerfed, apparently)
Power pools: Medicine (Aid Other/Self), Speed (Hasten), Jumping (CJ, SJ, Acro)
Mace Mastery (Poison Ray, Scorpion Shield)

Character is lvl 46 currently. Any suggestions on powers to swap out or pools to pick up? Fighting is seeming like a good idea in the face of Incarnate content, but doms in general seem a dubious choice against the AV and robot-heavy endgame now.
  5. Mr. Bocor, of course, rocks out to the classics. Assuming your classics include freaky hoodoo chants like this one.

    When Playing CoH

For SF/TFs, I go for dramatic classical music.

Normally I just look up songs I like on Youtube or listen to my 80s Girl Band Pandora Playlist.
  7. If I have to be something absurd, can I be a beatnik? Or at least a hippie? I seemed to have missed the opportune time to be either of those, and it seems like a shame.

Except for that part where I abhor drugs and the outdoors.
  8. Don't forget to also stock up on purified water and RadAway.
  9. *climbs out of manhole cover in the floor*

I've rolled over thirty ninja-themed characters in CoX, and have deleted all but one before 30. Any concept that involves ninjas is aiming straight for failure.

    Def or Corr?

Side note: AR's final power, Full Auto, doesn't seem to scourge unless it does so on the initial hit. So it doesn't get much benefit from it.

Ignite, on the other hand, is amazing on a Corr.
  11. As someone who has driven a forklift in a warehouse in real life, I occasionally amuse myself imagining the horror of working in a CoX warehouse.

"Yeah, go stick that in C tier on shelf 141 at the OPPOSITE end of the building which is U-shaped so it's even further away after going up and down a few ramps."
  12. This is the reason my new MM is a Thermal. If all else fails, I can rock the aura just as well as a defender.
  13. What's in the fridge?

*starts whistling Dead Puppies Aren't Much Fun*
  14. My Pandora station for CoX is named after the first band I added to it.

    "Divinyls."

If running all the Incarnate content to a playlist of 80s girl bands isn't musical shame, I don't know what is. However, if I had to name a single song from that list for raw shame, it'd be "Phone Sex" from Erocktica.

  16. Who got verdigris on my doughnut?
  17. Cheer up, it's not like you're a Storm Summoning character faced with the realization that between resistances and lag, all that slow, knockback, and repel you have is nearly useless. Which is only about... four to six powers.
  18. *comes in smelling of napalm* Who's up for some surfing?
  19. Or just run ITFs. A lot. That's basically how I push my 40ish characters ahead. They start almost continuously since they offer solid rewards in decent time, and the straightforward objectives (kill some, kill more, and kill the big dude four times) make the ITF PuG-friendly.

Side note: I love Cimerora. I can run ITFs twice a day every day for two weeks and not get tired of the visual style.

Anyway, this reminds me of a conversation I had the other day:

03-31-2011 02:00:40 [Roleplayers]KiIIerkitty: I only got the game after villains came out, because city of heroes advertising made it look like some cheesy nerdy comicbook game. city of villains seemed way more cool, still does, shame pretty much every update is hero stuff
03-31-2011 02:01:47 [Roleplayers]KiIIerkitty: mmm, for villains it's like finished grandville do RSF... now become a hero
03-31-2011 02:02:23 [Roleplayers]KiIIerkitty: RSF is *old*, seems like thye havent added anything new to the game for villains really
03-31-2011 02:03:16 [Roleplayers]The New Black: they can't, then the vocal hero players, who outnumber the vocal villains, will bark up a torm.
03-31-2011 02:04:11 [Roleplayers]The New Black: er... storm, even.
03-31-2011 02:10:21 [Roleplayers]fenrir: Which of course only makes more people go blueside which makes them less likely to add to redside...
03-31-2011 02:13:04 [Roleplayers]KiIIerkitty: yeah I don't think its peoples' fault so much as the company, the way ncsoft closed down tabula rasa completely even though it was making a profit proved they are pretty ruthless
    03-31-2011 02:13:32 [Roleplayers]Emgro: I miss TR.
03-31-2011 02:13:43 [Roleplayers]KiIIerkitty: they thought giving the servers and staff to Aion would give them a bigger profit, it backfiredo n them haha.
I like how my contribution to this conversation was a maudlin memory of a moribund MMOs.

    6 hours downtime

I'm thinking of playing Monster Hunter. MHFU, to be precise. Sign of major desperation on my part.

    Spam Thread

Is it wrong that four of the five females depicted in that picture reminded me of a character I regularly see in the D?
  24. Is it wrong that in LBP, I enjoyed jumping my sackboy close enough to fire to singe but not enough to die?

Also, for the most part, leading any team is basically this...

"You know how to play your character. Go out and kill things!"

The only real choice for the leader is "Do we stealth or not?" "Do we need to pull" (which is hardly ever) and "Pull Romi to the side or rush him"
    Well, there's a big difference.

I've had several characters who could split off the team and solo the map, but nobody splits off an Apex or Tin Mage team and lasts long.
