New Global channel for Virtue Roleplayers
Whatever happened to RP Virtue ?
pohsyb: so of all people you must be most excited about the veats
Arachnos Commander: actually, I am
pohsyb: I mean you kinda were one already anyways ^_^
Arachnos Commander:
I'll be joining as soon as I log on next. I lean towards RPing in missions, and have difficulty paying more attention towards shooting-the-breeze-in-the-D RP when I'm in game; this is perfect. I'll be recruiting from here first when I gather up people for trials/task forces.
RP Virtue's great for what it is, but it's not solely devoted towards RPers getting together looking to run in-game content. I love lurking and occasionally chatting there, but it's usual function seems to be for RPers to blow off steam OOCly with wacky antics and silly chat. Maybe it's my play schedule but I don't see much recruiting going on there.

The point of this channel, however, is to put together IC teams/TFs/SFs/etc. I'm not trying to replace them or out-do them in any way. It's just a different kind of channel with a more focused goal in mind.

We've also created a Twitter page to post pre-planned events not just formed by our members, but by any other RP group who'd like to spread the word about their own IC events. Just throw me a PM if you'd like to have something of your own added or email me in game at @Lela

And now we have this one.
There is a thread in the Roleplaying area for Roleplaying global channels, might want to post there as well and I'll see about getting it added to the list for Virtue, assuming this channel is Virtue only.
There has been a recent proliferation in RP global channels.

I was a member of RP Virtue for two years, and I think I saw maybe three genuine hero teams get formed and saw around one general team formed a month, if I was lucky. So it's never been that great for recruiting. And the wacky antics tended to get either dramatic or offensive far too often. I think we need a fresh new channel for RP, to be honest. I'll have to check this one out.

But again my idea of fun RP tends to deviate far to the left of most people on the server, the response I got on RP Virtue inviting people to a RPvP event was not very warm.
The problem with too many channels on a single topic is you start to lose people's attention with too much noise. You also start to splinter the already splintered community more and more.
The thread I mentioned before for role playing global channels is:

Not to highjack your thread or anything, but the Roleplayers channel usually sees two to three teams formed a night from pick-up RP leveling teams to TFs and occasionally leagues. I try to organize three or four WST or ITFs a week myself in the channel, and have usually had no trouble getting to eight people in a reasonable time.
Side note: Monday night's ITF was not assembled in reasonable time.

A couple of friends and I were talking about global channels available to us as roleplayers and gamers, and often times, the two seem mutually exclusive. Roleplayer channels seem to focus on meeting other rp'ers and discussing rp-related issues, which is fine, but seem to discourage advertising for teams, TFs/SFs, and trials. Other global channels that focus on getting teams and the like together include both non-rp'ers and rp'ers, and therefore, the activity tends to be a non-rp or wholly ooc event.
So, we thought why not blend the two?
Let me be clear here: We don't wish to pull people from either of the channel types listed above. We're interested in seeing if we can give an alternative to roleplayers out there who would like to participate in IC teams, IC TFs/SFs, etc. Non-rp'ers would, of course, be welcome, but with the understanding that these gatherings would be just as focused on RP as on the gaming aspect of the activities.
The focus of this global channel would not be discussion, but basically an LFT for Roleplayers who wish to play with other Roleplayers on Virtue. Members would be encouraged to start RP events/teams/TFs/SFs/Trials/Raids on their own, as well as attend those scheduled by the mods of the channel (each of the 4 of us are committed to schedule at least one event a month beginning in June).
The channel is public, and we welcome roleplayers of all types and backgrounds to join. When you do, you'll find yourself silenced, but all you have to do is send a mod a tell, and we'll unsilence you. We ask that no drama be brought to the channel and discussions unrelated to the subject of the channel be taken elsewhere.
So, please, check us out! We'd love to see the channel membership grow and become a place where fellow roleplayers can find more roleplayers who enjoy playing the game ICly!
Channel Name: Roleplayers LFT
If this is successful, a FB page ( http://tinyurl.com/rplft ) and group calendar will be coming soon!
